Thank you for producing this. I was blessed to fish in Iceland last year with my sons (with guides from Matthias’ company by the way) and I wish I could go back again and again. A magical, wild place with wonderful people. I hope they are successful with their conservation efforts…here in the U.S. fly fishing is almost synonymous with catch & release
You make my eyes tear , this is future of fly fishing , we have to belive in each other ! Videos like this show me that im not alone with my way of thinking about fishing , thank you guys !
I really enjoyed this film. With so many fishing videos being fast paced and always only focusing on catching lots of big fish or how cool the latest gear is, it's refreshing to find a film about the underlying allure of fishing and the love the anglers have for these creatures that bring us so much joy. It really brought a smile to my face.
Epic viewing regarding management ..C&R the key to sustainability..A real pleasure to observe timed recovery & release..A credit to those depicted in this footage!
You are COMPLETELY right there!!!!!. If you wet your hands before handling the fish, it will not harm the fish. I myself always have a pair of thin gloves that I soak in the water before handling the fish !! The pike is the only fish that can take damage from it as it has a slimly layer that keeps the cold away in arctic waters. But with gloves that are soaked in the water you fish in, it also works well, You never wish a fisherman good luck where I live, we say crapy fish to you. 🙂I have been a fisheries management consultant for 38 years
In Canada we have been doing catch and release since 1973 and it works great, the angler has to be careful when catching, landing and releasing the fish but it is a great way to reduce pressure on certain species while still allowing fishing in that specific lake or stream.
There is an absolutely absolute purity to Iceland be it water, fish, nature in general, politics, way of life... and the Icelandic language itself .... a most beautiful language to listen to when being spoken by a native speaker. x
Wonderful, inspiring are just some words that come to mind . So good to see the dedication of these men in their personal commitment to the preservation of this precious resource . May it continue for generations to come . I am blessed here in British Columbia Canada to have unlimited access to untold lakes rivers and streams with abundant fish populations. Some of the worlds largest runs of salmon come to the area I live. May it always be so.
Great video pictorial guys , the country and the rivers are just stunning. Thankyou for sharing this I love the catch and release message ………..those fish are just too precious to catch once. Tight lines from all the catch and release anglers down here in Australia.
Amazing video! Had chills running up and down my spine the entire time, beautiful place and some even more beautiful fish. Also get a thumbs up for Green River Ordinance @11:37!
Was für ein großartiges Video und welche wunderschönes Land, bin schon am Raussuchen, wie man dahin kommt....ich will jetzt dahin....ich will - Macht weiter so schöne Filme, dann können die Reise sich hoffentlich selbst finanzieren....
From MA US - Well done guys! Great cinematography choreographed with excellent music. Good to see the awesome stewards of the environment & fisheries. Thank you.
I always come back to this video. Reminds me of me and my good freind going on adventures in the wild. Good music too. What's the song at 10 minutes? Very soothing.
Ooooh my god!!! Well done brothres!! It was amazing, really amazing. I love the miusic in this film. This film remenbered me the situation in Sapin about catch and release, and all things that we will need for getting it. Well done! Oooohhh Dios mil! Buen trabajo hermanos! La peli a sido muy buena. Me gusta la musica de la pelicila. Este video me ha recordado la situacion en España sobre la pesca de captura y suelta, y todo lo que nos queda por recorrer para conseguirlo. Bien hecho!
Lovely film and the message re C&R rings true. I'm from Colorado and C&R is standard practice amongst fly fishermen and the evidence for C&R is abundantly clear - C&R is good for fish and fisheries and with care (barbless hooks, don't overtire the fish, don't pull the fish out of the water for more than a few seconds, especially when they are recovering, allow the fish to recover in the net (and always use a net) before releasing them) the fish will do well and go on to lead happy lives and create more fish. Anyone who says different simply does not understand how to take care of fish. Good on ya for promoting C&R!
Excellent! Catch and release is just not controversial here in Ireland or the UK. The professional quality of your film is outstanding and the content is compelling. Thanks for sharing.
Fished the myrarkvistl with Matti's outfit for trout in 2016 and had a wonderful week guided by Maddi. Caught tagged trout, c and r is the way forward for wild fish.
Very good to see a factual representation of how catch and release benefits the fishery. I hope this will eventually knock some sense into the politicians. I’ve caught the same brown trout (with a missing caudal fin) out of the same hole on at least three different occasions over the last 5-6 years. Thanks for the excellent as well as informative video.
Hello from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Great Film, I really enjoyed it. Positive proof that catch and release works and in this day and age should be the norm to conserve the resource.
Excellent film guys. Watched it with great pleasure. Perfect recording, picture and sound, make this a first class film. Left you a subscription. Good luck in the future and tight lines🎣 from the Čech Republic 🇨🇿.
Hello from North Carolina, US. I was lucky enough to come across one of your videos and now have watched everything you have on UA-cam. I can appreciate your vision and passion for fly fishing and just spending time in the outdoors with friends and family. Keep up the great videos and of course tight lines.
Very interesting, great video! Being from the United States one thing I found very interesting is the lack of catch and release. In the United States catch and release is normal and has been for many years. In fact for those that fly fish close to 100% of any fish caught are released. This has been the case for probably 25+ years and applies all over the country. A trophy fish is landed with a quick picture and quickly released. Iceland is a place i have been many times, though I have never been able to fish the country. It is on my "bucket list" of places to fish, I hope to make it someday. Well done!
Beautiful Film, amazing production values. I fish for Sea Run Steelhead Trout (O. mykiss) in Northern California and Oregon. These amazing fish run large in the Smith and Chetco rivers, up to 20 pounds. On these rivers wild Steelhead must be released unharmed and we use barbless hooks. Their biology is amazing and they fight like no other. I am humbled, and sometimes brought to tears as I hold these in my hand and set them free.
I lived in the United States from the beginning im thinking of moving to iceland or visiting i know it will be a big change thanks for this video 🥶🥶🥶👍👍
I fell in love with Iceland when we went 5 years ago, sadly I didn't get to fish and this video is showing me yet another reason I need to go back. It surprises me to hear that a majority of Icelandic anglers need to be convinced to catch and release, the Icelandic people already do so much to preserve their way of life, I just assumed it would extend into wildlife conservation. Amazing video!
Nice video, I want to go there - here in Victoria Australia you can't see that kind of scenery. Most serious fishermen here catch and release, no matter the size. Thanks for uploading
Would love to make a trip from the states and fly fish for 2 weeks straight! My fishing buddy and I have been fly fishing together for 7yrs. Last 4 yrs we've been targeting the great lakes tributaries for salmon, steelhead, and brown trout coming to spawn from the lakes. This video is a beautiful example of the purity where its just you and nature. So jealous but also excited and happy for you to have had the opportunity to experience that!
"that's Atlantic Salmon...they're not for everyone...sigh...let's have a cigarette" - I cannot count how many times I have had the exact feeling fishing them in Canada. Great video.
Very nice location and nicely done. You are not alone when it comes to practicing Catch and Release Trout Fishing. I do it and countless others as well. We cannot stop others from enjoying the waters we fish but rather we should be practicing good Conservation so that Others can enjoy it as well. dON

What a beautiful movie. Great country. Great people. Great fish. Inspired.

Best fishing video I've seen to date. Stunning scenery, gorgeous fish, life at it's best. Well done

Thank you from SW Colorado! Second time watching this one, great photography and entertainment. Adding Iceland to the bucket list.

Beautiful job filming and editing this, thank you for sharing all of this with the rest of us.
All of those fish were in magnificent condition ......... just beautiful
Definitely one of the best fly fishing videos in the world. Really. Amazing. Glad that it's free and everyone can see it.
Kalaveljet Corporation by far one of my favourites too. Can't understand those "unlinke" buttons...
Thanks very much, means a lot. Check out our newest project, also focusing on fishing conservation: www.unatheone-film.com

Great video. Thanks for sharing! Salmon are super fun to catch.
Wunderbar !
Thanks for the upload. Iceland is so far away from Australia it's almost a dream.

Thank you for sharing it and thank you for doing and showing the beauty of fishing.
