just got the ruined city set last week - which has a lot of plastic in the box. I absolutely share Mel's opinion: you'll get tenfold out of these sets if you not just use them as the cube-shaped builds they are supposed to be, but integrate them into your projects mixing it with all the other stuff you have.
I'll use the set for Necromunda's ruined gang zones.

I bought their Starship Doors set for £10 on ebay, always looking out for auctions for the good stuff. They work well with various Heroic Maps sci-fi tile maps. Looking at getting the Mantic Starship Scenery set as well.
For gribbly bits I have some of Maelstrom Edge's terrain sprues(3), plus other resin pieces. As well as some 10 count plastic mesh(thinking of using for windows), some insect mesh, craft sticks, popsicle sticks, and matchsticks. To add to my foamcore structures to give them more character. Starting with simple builds, square and rectangular shaped buildings.
I am excited to see what you build, looking forward to the series!

Mel your enthusiasm is contagious, but as someone who has had a mantic terrain crate before (not the sci-fi)I offer a friendly warning the plastic is crap it warps in the slightest heat and arrives boxed up but all bent and twisted.Mine might of been a one off but I’ve spoken to other people who have ordered similar crates of mantic and their experience is very similar to mine.I understand you’ve been given these things free of charge but fares fare. This is based on my own personal experience.

Those look like so much fun to just sit and *build* !!! Like Lego, but for adults :)
always been tempted by the GW scifi terrain in the same way. The modularity and the possibilities just make me want to get my hands on a literal heap of the stuff and see what awesome stuff i can make! Unfortunately though, money is a thing XD

I have a load of the essentially similar Mars Attack scenery - brick buildings for a 'current day' battle. They don't seem to have expanded that range, but there's quite a bit in there for 20-21 century gaming.
The annoying thing about it is that the windows - quite a lot of them - are solid sheets of the same plastic. It would be a LOT of hassle to cut them out...

Mantic makes some really good stuff. The customization options of their sets put the games workshop stuff to shame. Only issue I have is the connectors can be a pain to set in right, and other times they are extremely frail and the pegs break off during dry fitting.

  • @Hobbyrepubliken
