Yes. I have Core Space, the Gothic core kit, and I plan on getting much more. It still amazes me how a flat piece of cardboard can look so convincing. They are the perfect solution when it comes to human made buildings.
I have the Core Gothic set and plan on grabbing the Frontier Core set very soon. The mats/terrain itself are gorgeous, sturdy, and totally worth the price. Works well with the new 40k 32mm size and it is simply immersive as hell. Also, I bought my set directly from Battle Systems so it took a few weeks to arrive in the US. However, there are plenty of online shops here that sell the sets for similar price/free shipping!
for some reason, this brought back a wave of nostalgia from the 90's, heavy metal minis and heavy cardstock terrain in box sets. Thanks for the vid Mel!
Totally. Being from GW stock I always looked out in white dwarf for a free building or bit of terrain that you would punch out from the card inserts, this stuff is sturdy as heck though and the next level by comparison. I watched the battle systems video on their city/ apocalyptic range and it was strong and durable. That fantasy range just looks immense.....
@@TheTerrainTutor are you saying they have stopped making the urban range? I was 50/50 between Battle Systems or (my eventual choice) TT Combat. As an avid model maker TT have given me a great base to work from, but the quick assemble and play aspect BS is appealing (and the ability to pack down flatter for transport)
I've been watching videos on architectural model making, and decided to throw a test piece together last night. Just a little booth with a simple roof and base. I was honestly shocked at how easy it was to work with, and how sturdy the final result ended up being. Making grebblie bits and details out of card was a little trickier, but practice may sort that out. Barring that, there's always balsa and styrene. There are also plenty of sources for architectural models where you can get pre-made windows, wallpaper, flooring, siding, and stonework. Put a picture up inside your bunker-just because they're space marines doesn't mean they wouldn't like some flowers! The Battlesystem kit looks pretty interesting, and I may have to take a closer look at their stuff.
That paper terrain looks very nice. Some dark brown or dark grey on the edges will go a long way to removing the toy look. Even edging with a felt tip pen would be good and take minimal time.
I definitely think this mixed with some plastic or resin terrain decorations and nice trees and other interesting scatter terrain would be the bee's knees.
Yeah, sorry. I made my comment while watching the video. I used to play a game called "Race Day" that used credit card sized cards to punch out and make NASCARs. I used markers to cover the white edges.
does the shanty town come with a 3x3 matt? I thought it was 2x2. Really liking the battle systems kits, definitely thinking of buying some of it, just not sure if I want to go cyberpunky or apocalyptic just yet. The sizes of their 3x3 mats may be a factor....
just had a look at their site, if your into scifi urban decay etc they are great but very limited fantasy stuff there' not a lot on there but it they add more to their stuff I will buy it
I know you did this video over a year ago, but I have some 3D stuff, but not really sure how it "looks" Next to the 2D card-stuff! Is there anyway you can do a mash-up of Battlesystems and 3d trrain on a table to compare? IMO, I doubt be much different really, just the thickness of the walls on standing terrain. It SHOULD!!! look pretty-OK!, but wanted to ask my Terrain-goto Guy first! Incase your wondering, I am already ordering this set, and 2 other Core-sets! Lke I said, just wanted to see it on the table before I got it built and said "Ohhhh! Thats not going to work! lol Thanks Tons' Melvin! Bottom of the Glass to You for any Help, You Sexy-Beast! lol Scott E.
Have you used Battle Systems kits? If so, what do you think?

Can you do a video on how to make a sunken Road?

@@margaretgordon7481 No, he's talking about the old GW cardboard terrain from years ago.

I have the all the sci-fi stuff that came with their Core Space Kickstarter and not only is the game great but the scenery is superb too.

Haha. If youd have to do all edges that would be mindnumbing and tedious.
Yup! I'm buying this! Thanks for the review!
cardboard and corrugated cardboard is usually my go to for creating terrain.... its light and durable and low cost
I definitely think this mixed with some plastic or resin terrain decorations and nice trees and other interesting scatter terrain would be the bee's knees.
Really cool Mel...cardstock models have come a long way...
If you don't like the white edges, you can color them with different colored markers.
He does mention it at 9:40 ish

Man that set comes with allot of really useful scatter.
Superb, cheers. That fantasy stuff looks immense too
The Mat looks really cool. I wonder if we can paint on a canvas mat.
