    SHOOTING PORTRAITS on CANON REBEL T5i in 2020
    In this video, I make portraits on the CANON REBEL T5i DSLR camera. This beginner juggernaut is often slept on, but in this video I highlight it's photo making capabilities, and feature the camera's video capabilities as well.
    I break down the photography features offered by the CANON REBEL T5i, the video capabilities, and retail prices for this camera as well.
    If you're new to photography and not sure if you're going to stick with it, then the CANON REBEL T5i is a camera you should definitely take a look at because it's on the lower end of the pricing spectrum and it has lots of features to make learning photography easier. Plus, since the camera's been on the market for a while, you'll be able to buy one for a easily as this camera is always available on Ebay.

    About 5 or 6 years ago, I worked as an assistant for a college photography instructor, and one of the cameras we had for checkout was the T4i. I fully expected it to be a dud, but I found myself shooting with it often. Still seriously an underrated time in that series. Great shots!

    This video really helped!!! 🥺Thank you so much I appreciate it 😊🙏🏽 you inspired me to not make excuses and just go shoot with my canon. I didn’t think I can take amazing portraits like that with the factory lens but clearly I am wrong and have slept on my camera for way to long 🥴 thank you again

      Talya Adams just like you said, it’s my first camera. I dj and do radio in Florida and had to learn to use it. Records amazing video but i know there’s better out there. I been having a staring contest with the cannon M50

    • @TalyaAdams
      @TalyaAdams  4 роки тому +2

      Dj Spaceship 😂 Not a staring contest. I would wait for Amazon day, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday to try and catch a deal on the M50. Or try to catch a desperate seller on eBay looking to get some quick cash by selling at a low price.

      THEDDTinc. LLC you really don’t need another lens w that kind of zoom. Didn’t even know that was an option. lol.

    It's a good camera if you got the lighting. Because if you don't or have fast glass, having to crank up that ISO setting is where this camera is flawed. But for $300ish for an used one, you're not gonna get a camera that can handle low light that well. Investing into good and fast glass helps camera out a lot. I've gotten some really good shots on my 100mm 2.8L Macro. For budget the 50mm 1.8 is pretty good with this camera too. I've used this camera for a couple of years and I like it, but it's starting to become time for me to upgrade a camera to where I can crank up that ISO and not be disappointed in my quality.

    • @TalyaAdams
      @TalyaAdams  4 роки тому

      Totally agree with you. I used to have the 50mm for this camera too and it made my images significantly better. If you’ve had this camera while I’d agree it’s time to move up. But as a beginner camera this T5i is a gem. Thanks for watching 😊

    Great! Very good, Talya! Congratulations! How do you do the slow with t5i and export a 1080...?

    • @TalyaAdams
      @TalyaAdams  4 роки тому +2

      Hey Brunno! So, the slow motion shots you saw in the video weren’t recorded on the T5i. I used a different camera for those. However, last clip of the video when I talk about the camera was filmed on the T5i. The max quality is 1080 at 24fps on the T5i. Still good, but no creamy slo-mo action sadly.
      Thanks for watching!

    Can you use the 18-55mm lens to create portrait style pictures? I'm just starting out with DSLRs and looking for a lens that'll help me get that aesthetic.
    Keep up the awesome work

    Why I shoot film? Glad you asked. I'll give three reasons:
    First, I’m a fine-art photographer whose subjects don’t talk back to him, and is not on a schedule. Therefore I can slow down and concentrate on my work.
    Second, film is a “time capsule” for me. I recently reviewed film images I took in Brooklyn back in July. I can recall those days that are permanently preserved on negatives (or Instant).
    And third, the digital equipment “arms race.” It seems like every time you turn around there is a new camera out promising to make you a better photographer. You see ads for the zillion megapixel - full- frame, ion-powered camera that can run you a few mortgage payments. And with AI creeping into photography, how long will it be before the photographer is no longer the creative agent, but a passive one as “perfect” images flood the internet?

    What setting in camera you set up?

    • @TalyaAdams
      @TalyaAdams  2 роки тому +2

      I think I had my ISO around 200/400, f-stop 5.6-8 depending on light, then shutter speed was more than likely 250 for this shoot. Hope this helps.

    how is this compared to the canon eos R?

    • @TalyaAdams
      @TalyaAdams  2 роки тому +1

      I would compare the two systems. The Canon R series is far more advanced. I use the Canon RP and even as an entry level mirrorless camera, it still delivers far more than the T5i.
      Still, I maintain, if a photographer has a handle on the basics and is creative, making photos with the T5i is fine until you save up for a better camera.
