Very interesting comparison. I’ve just spent my money (84k) on a Polestar 2 RWD LR with Pilot but not Plus as I didn’t want the sunroof etc.
It just arrived in Melbourne and will be delivered to me in on Kangaroo Island a couple of weeks. Prior to that I put my name on the EX30 interest list but was very disappointed when I found out no instrument display, also it’s not due until next year. I was also looking at the C40 Recharge.
I want my Polestar to road trip around Australia with just me and the dog with some camping in the back along the way. Its range, sportiness, style, infotainment and practicality is perfect for me!

EX30 simply because of the size, performance, and ability to max out on a reasonable budget. Most people see small and slightly impractical as a hindrance - it's exactly what I want. Just practical enough. And besides, is a P2 really a P2 unless it has the performance pack? Mine would spec out so much higher and then I'd be in trouble.

Recently saw a 2022 Polestar 2 with performance, pilot, plus pack in Houston 10k Miles for $35K. I live in Austin and I told the sales guy on Wed that I would drive down on Saturday to check it out. Well he lowered the price on Wed night to $33K and it was gone on Thurs.

@@usconceptschannel An order was made with the Volvo salesperson and the paper and names were filled out. The car is paid for only when the car arrives here, not before that👍.
And then, after the order, I received an email from Volvo congratulating me on ordering a new car.

Looking forward to actually seeing the EX30 in Oct at a US dealer roadshow. Hoping the vehicle is easier to get in than a Tesla 3 (too low to the ground). Back seat room not a concern. Considering RWD since the 10 years I have had my BMW X3 have only needed it a couple of times. But final pricing will determine that. Being retired and driving less than 5000 miles a year range in the EX30 should be just fine.

It would be interesting to compare the Polestar 2 with the new BYD Seal. Spec a Polestar 2 to match a BYD Seal and you may be paying 20K euros more. It's a similar story if you compare the Polestar 2 to a Tesla Model 3, to be honest, but to compare to something new.

People are flipping out that it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. In reality they're very similar cars made by pretty much the same company with many of the same parts.
I also pre-ordered the Volvo EX30 and I'm going to get the maxed-out version which is going to be about $47,000 when it's all said and done. However, after seeing Chris's video now I'm thinking of comparing the brand new EX30 maxed-out version with a slightly and lightly used Polestar 2 with leather and sunroof and dual motors etc.
This to me is a more interesting comparison. If I can get an almost new P2 with

EX30 (Twin Ultra) for me as will be our second car that we will use mainly in town/short journeys. It may also be a “one trick pony” (will be interesting to see views after test drives) but what a trick…😀

I wish Polestar would make a Polestar 2 wagon which would improve the practicality of the limited trunk capacity. It wools be great to have an electric wagon on the market and extends the tradition of Volvo performance wagons. Given that the structure of the Polestar 2 is rigid enough for a large hatch opening, the additional engineering for a wagon would be limited.

I love the look of the EX30, but not having a drivers display would probably put me off to be honest, I'm puzzled why they have left out, probably will introduce it when the EX30 upgrade comes out in a few years from now, interesting video though Kris, can you do a video of all three Geely models that will be using this same platform ? that would be of more interest to Volvo fans like myself ?

    • @keegan854
      @keegan854 Рік тому

The lack of driver's display is simply cost cutting, especially since manufacturers need to make left-hand and right-hand drive versions of a vehicle. The fewer parts need to change between those versions, the cheaper it is to make the car overall. They see that Tesla gets away with it and they bet that even people who don't like this design decision (like myself) will mostly get used to it.

EX30 is a good Cars in its base trim, but in the performance trim it is an expensive one trick pony. The P2 is the more complete package as a one car option, the EX30 is either a budget option or as second car.

  • @bernardrr

They start at the same price in Canada ($57K vs. $53), so maybe the EX30 is overpriced here.
I think the P2 should handle better on rough roads because of its wheelbase, but the Volvo has more attractive interior options, especially the wool blend.

How are these cars even compareable?
One is a small city suv and the other is on the same platform as xc40 so bigger car. And same 50k price?
Fully spec xc30 dual motor ultra costs around 60k euro in sweden, fully spec dual motor performance polestar 2 costs 75-80k.
So fair comparison would be should you buy ex30, smart #1 or zeeker model, alt polestar 2, xc/c40 or other cara in simular size/class.
Its as stupid as calling the xc30 the tesla model y killer as many people on youtube do. Its like sayin a Golf if a killer of bmw x5…….

There are 2023 Polestar 2 FWD on sale in Dallas under 6K miles for $31K and 2022 Dual Motor under 15K miles for $30K so I am sure how I could justify buying a EX30 the way I would want it for $50K.

I just bought a barely used MY23 polestar 2 and cancelled my ex30 I had on order. The quality of the polestar 2 is very good, the interior is very high quality compared to the ex30 and it’s a more practical car despite not being an SUV

I'm trying to figure out why so many people are selling the Polestar 2s. I think it looks like a great car but there are a million of them on the market with very little miles. I'm trying to decide between a new ex30- i currently have electric vehicle c40 or doing what you did and getting a lightly-used Polestar 2 with leather but I can't figure out why so many people are dumping them.

EX30 Core is the most interesting one I think because 5k less than Model 3 and 10k less Model Y. For 48k euro Model Y makes more sense because of greater lagguage space + more autonomy + faster recharge. Instead at 35k EX30 Core has no rivals right now (Jeep Avenger costs 2k more and with almost no ADAS and no premium finitures)

Got to 20 seconds .. there is no choice here and nobody has driven the EX30 yet.
You have to go Volvo. The Polestar 2 is a 6 year old car with a facelift. By this I mean it's an XC40 on the inside and under and it looks like an even older car inside. And the software, despite update is old .. no real change in the 3 years I've had.
The Volvo is designed ground up to be electric. The Polestar is an XC40 with Polestar optimising ..

  • @Krejstrup

The 30 in EX30 indicates that this is a small car. Like the smallest in any of their types. Compare the classic models V- and S- 40/60/70/90 and you will understand this.
So is it a fair comparison? I lean to not so much. An EX40 or EX60 maybe, if these where an option.
Nice presentation either way, thank you.

One question for everyone. Exterior Design only, not price, not driver display, not range, not motors, not interior finishes....just exterior design, which do you feel is nicer.
Like you quickly glance over and you have one car to your left and one car you're right and you can only see both of them from the outside which do you prefer not knowing anything else.

Not a good choice of model comparison as the driver who wants the performance of the Ex twin motor would never consider the much slower polestar single motor. My comparison would be with the Ex single motor which has comparable performance and range to the Polestar. Unfortunatly I would not buy the Ex30 anyway as it has no drivers display. I f I did buy a car without drivers display the 2024 Tesla model 3 is now not a lot dearer than the Ex30 and has better performance than the dearer polestar plus all the know advantages of superchargers and Nav linked charging.

Well, honestly, for the Norwegian market, I think they're both overpriced. If I had 50k to spend in these financial times, I'd want as much "bang for the buck" as possible - and design would ultimately lose to the likes of an MEB platform car with 4 wheel drive. Same price, improved drivability and space.
