The FP cost on incantations other than beast incants has is WAY too high in comparison to the damage sorceries are doing for way less. I’ve found a few buffs are worth it, catch flame is great for PvP, a few boss cheese spells like rot breath, but for the most part incants aren’t worth the FP over using it for weapon arts. It’s why I think str/faith using beast incants is the best faith build. 60 str/25 faith and use the dirt cheap beast buffs and heals and buff your str scaling weapon with a str scaling beast seal.
Try a dragon cult build. 30fp to do anywhere from 2-10k damage on a boss is pretty good. Especially if you are going strength and have poise. I have 25 mind and only need 2 blue flasks and i can buff and take out a boss with spells. Plus part of strenght faith is that you have a weapon for damage cause you are also going strenght where mages have lower weapon damage and more spell usage.
I think the idea for incants was an inbetween of being a physical damage character and magic user. Most of the incants have low int requirements with a tad of faith thrown in them meaning more physical damage focused players can invest a little into int, faith and arc with some and have some magic options. Unfortunately as of now most incantations are a cool idea but impossible to practically use in combat.
agreed, something like the canvas talisman from DS3 (weapon art to increase poise for casting) would be extremely helpful, if not necessary, to make close range incantations more viable
Black Blade is a decent incantation to use at the start of the fight since it chunks away max HP and causes a DoT. Otherwise, you're better off using buffs and affinity infusions.
Incantations need a serious buff. Duration needs to be increased on support incants and damage needs to be increased on offensive incants. Compared to magic, it really is underpowered.
I think damage is probs going about it in the wrong way, sorcery is kinda all about damage while incantations are more utility and variety. I just think giving any of the longer cast incantations natural poise would make using them more viable even if the damage was the same. Half the reason they aren't good is cuz anything that does alot of damage can get easily stopped by an arrow or a rock or something before they even do anything.
@@sevirakalau2171 agreed, I don't believe they need buffs, just some poise to back up what they do, hell I fought against a few players using some of incantations and it has nutty damage.

Hey love the vids I highly recommend making a god parry build, faith and Dex mainly using a parry shield with golden parry and misericorde dagger with lighting on it, also flame of Redmanes can break poise really easily so maybe something good to use with it
@Top Lobster I went with godskin apostle. The magic seems to compliment a melee build quite well and I can dump my stats rather than having to spread properly which is nice since I’m quite new to souls games. I think once I get a grasp on building I’m going to try a faith caster using a mixture of incants.
Niiccceee absolutely love the magic in game although I noticed quite a hefty lean towards faith casting; in my opinion the dragon and erdtree casts were the more varied and strongest and solely relied on upping faith which any class can do without sacrificing physical points which is badass
Thanks for putting this together. I notice you didn't showcase firing two magma breath shots in a row by pressing LB twice (though you did show it for the other version later).
Every time I try to make a pure faith build, I end up drifting away. I really wish most casting incantations felt better. The ancient dragon series and the rings incantations especially.
And late-game bosses never give you a great window to use dragon spells unless they're focusing on your summon/cooperator. Even then, it's so easy for them to swap back to you that you can't cast it without taking a hit. The only dragon spell I ever maintained was Exzykes because it's Scarlet Rot is off the charts. After applying Scarlet Rot, I usually settle into throwing Blackflame or chucking Lightning Spear.
I REALLY wish there was an upgraded version of Lightning Spear that does more damage but also uses more FP. The dragon lightning spells look cool, but they're not very practical except for taking out large groups of weaker enemies. Really wish Ancient Dragon Lightning spear was thrown at enemies, rather than slamming it into the ground.
A couple of notes for the unaware: Elden Stars creates a projectile which travels forward, shooting many smaller homing projectiles as it goes. Inside the enclosed space of that church it hit the wall and ended early, so we couldn't see its full glory. The Fire Monks' spells share a lineage with the Fire Giants' spells (same symbol when casting) for a reason. Notice how the Erdtree and Two Fingers incantations tend to display their symbol on the ground, surrounding the caster, instead of being projected next to the sacred seal.
I have to say, incantation feels way more varied and overall more useful than sorceries. Sorceries lack variety in shapes/areas and damage type I feel. (and some straight up unusable lol) Glad I make an hybrid, best of both parts !
Seems that way. I don't have very many of either, tho I have more incantations than spells and I am building for faith/str. This video definitely makes it clear that incantations have lots of utility. I DO think that the sorceries have some really really gorgeous spells (that giant full moon one is so hypnotizing to me) and a lot of em are just downright powerful. But you're right, i think the only other damage type I've seen under INT/sorceries is frostbite. And it's pretty rare on weapons and spells, it seems.
I mean for pvp many incantations are worthless but quite a lot of sorceries are good as most have fast cast time so even if fp to dmg ratio for some sorceries is bad they have fast enough cast time to be at least more viable in pvp. many flashy incantations are so slow the person your fighting has already ran off did emote and started walking back before you finished the cast ;D, some spells like moon for sorcery are slow but they are quite decent in pvp as they start moving slow and you can chase the invader with the spell trying to catch them in a roll or off guard as they try to avoid the blast. I prefer incantation and my faith build is a lot of fun we do have versatility but in terms of pvp or even fast bosses faith can be very limited to just a tiny amount of spells which will usually be lighting strike as its fast and good dmg of course I still use slow incantation in pvp just its much harder to pull off without getting hit let alone actually hitting anyone :D the biggest hindrance for pure faith build is weapon choices are horrible, for pure intellect build you actually have a good pick of weapons and styles with very small requirements like dark moon great sword, its not the best but as great swords go it just needs 16 str most others need 20 or same amount of dex and str which is a bit of a punishment in stat allocation.
@@Julian-rt9qs A lot of high level sorceries are absolutely gorgeous indeed. Tbh i wish we had some other gravity spells doing AoE stuff, like with the gravity stones
Sorceries do WAY more damage for the FP. I have yet to find a justification to use a dragon breath spell over using most weapon arts. Edit: with the exception of cheesing certain bosses with rot breath.
@@kevinc8955 Some sorceries do, but a lot of high level ones really aren't that good. Magic shower or crystal release and such really aren't that good.
It looks cool, but they're all pretty useless in combat. You get hit by anything at all before the long animation is finished and the spell is cancelled and all your fp is gone
I wish you had taken the time to show off the damage numbers or something, there are already like a million videos out there, that are in this exact same format just in a different location
honestly you don't really need a weapon if you go full faith/arcane. You can clear out trash mobs with something like lightning bolt, black flame, flame sling etc. and then for boss fights melt them with dragon spells. I still use a weapon though because Katana's and bleed weapons do so much damage with arcane you might as well save that FP for the boss
@@AlphaDwg Faith/Arcane is dragon priest. Pure faith, I agree with the OP. 60str/25 faith and a non faith weapon you can buff is really powerful since the buffs scale off strength with the beast seal. However, buffs are annoying to use, and it’s dubious whether the FP to cast them is really worth the opportunity cost of using the FP for a weapon art instead.
Why no timestamps for every single incantation like in the sorceries video? It's a real nuisance to regularely search for a specific incantation like this 😠
Dragon Cult Incantations look interesting, might have to try to get those for my 2nd character. And there are some incantations that only use INT??? Might have to look into those for my main build.

This is awesome I got a new magic/arcane build n mind this gave me more ideas and a direction to go. Keep up the great work!!!
Hey love the vids I highly recommend making a god parry build, faith and Dex mainly using a parry shield with golden parry and misericorde dagger with lighting on it, also flame of Redmanes can break poise really easily so maybe something good to use with it
Exactly what I was looking for! Now I know what incantations to go hunt down.
Perfect timing I just started a save with a faith build and I wanted to dedicate to one “school” but wasn’t sure which. Now I am!
@Top Lobster I went with godskin apostle. The magic seems to compliment a melee build quite well and I can dump my stats rather than having to spread properly which is nice since I’m quite new to souls games.
I think once I get a grasp on building I’m going to try a faith caster using a mixture of incants.
I want my future house to be built from whatever this Church is made of
Niiccceee absolutely love the magic in game although I noticed quite a hefty lean towards faith casting; in my opinion the dragon and erdtree casts were the more varied and strongest and solely relied on upping faith which any class can do without sacrificing physical points which is badass
it is because incantations are solely focused on faith casting. If you are searching for intelligence that's sorceries
@@PlaXer not entirely, some incants also use INT
Thanks for putting this together. I notice you didn't showcase firing two magma breath shots in a row by pressing LB twice (though you did show it for the other version later).
I’m so enamored with this fella because of his guides and such. Lord help me, perhaps I’ve been subjected to the flames of frenzy?
The merchant just chilling 😳
Thanks!
Every time I try to make a pure faith build, I end up drifting away. I really wish most casting incantations felt better. The ancient dragon series and the rings incantations especially.
Same ended up going more strength than faith late game so I could still buff but mainly just bonk stuff
Dragon spells scale far more off arcane than faith just fyi
@@vamperic not the ancient dragon incantations though, which is what I am lamenting
i like how some of the incantations require either a balance of INT/FAITH or just all INT. im very curious as to what implications that has lore-wise
The ones that do are Golden Order incantations. Golden Order specifically is associated with balance in the natural order.
Radagon studied magic when he was married to Renala, and incorporated it into his golden order fundamentalism
A couple of notes for the unaware:
Elden Stars creates a projectile which travels forward, shooting many smaller homing projectiles as it goes.
(and some straight up unusable lol)
Glad I make an hybrid, best of both parts !
I prefer incantation and my faith build is a lot of fun we do have versatility but in terms of pvp or even fast bosses faith can be very limited to just a tiny amount of spells which will usually be lighting strike as its fast and good dmg of course I still use slow incantation in pvp just its much harder to pull off without getting hit let alone actually hitting anyone :D
the biggest hindrance for pure faith build is weapon choices are horrible, for pure intellect build you actually have a good pick of weapons and styles with very small requirements like dark moon great sword, its not the best but as great swords go it just needs 16 str most others need 20 or same amount of dex and str which is a bit of a punishment in stat allocation.
Great vid helped alot
I was looking for this video yesterday on the channel 😅😂😂
Scarlet aeonia is so cool, but the whole golden order incantations won my heart
I would love to see a tier list of all the spells/incantations/weapons.
It would be good content
Kinda funny to see the effects of other things you where testing there still up lol.
That golden boomerang is clean
damn faith looks so fun. I went int.. next play through going faith arcane build
It looks cool, but they're all pretty useless in combat. You get hit by anything at all before the long animation is finished and the spell is cancelled and all your fp is gone
congrats you made this whole video in a place that prevents us from understanding the range or spread of most of the spells.
Man i was so excited for flame of the fell god
It must be good with such a high faith cost And then it sucks so bad wtf is up with that?
That's pretty much every incantation unfortunately
You're better off running a melee-focused build with incantations that buff you rather than focusing on a caster build. At least for now.
You summed up my Faith Build experience... 😭
ooo I can shoot lasers from my eyes
They really spoilt us with spells and incantations I'm so glad
Whats the robe your wearing called? Thank you so much for your content.
for me lighting looks best, together with its sounds
what’s the name of your outfit/armor?
I wish the cast times weren't so long. Especially since a lot of these incantations don't even deal lot of damage.
Super useful vid thank u
Never knew the lightning incant spells were dragon related lol good to know
I would love to see a Wolverine style build.
unendurable frenzy looks so dope
litany of proper death sounds so bad ass
What armor is that u have on?
Wheres the one that you sprinkle some golden dust and it gives you and your teammates a one time damage reduction?
Liking because you left timestamps
All of these are sick
Question. What are fundamentalist incantations?
I wish you had taken the time to show off the damage numbers or something, there are already like a million videos out there, that are in this exact same format just in a different location
Not gonna lie I low key want to make a cyclops build around the frenzied flame incantations
Dragon communion are the bests for me tbh
I could be wrong but placidusax ruin isn’t technical a dragon communion spell because it dose not receive the buff from the dragon communion seal
Sorceries are so cool (Especially Loretta’s) in this game… But incantations WIN.
What stats and item use in this video. Casting speed seems very fast! Also FP seems very high too
The distinction between the Dragon Cult/Communion and Fire Giant/Cult seems weird tbh.
It’s very simple lmfao. Dragon communication turns you into a dragon and dragon cult is just lightning
what is the benefit of healing longer? Does it have more potency?
It’s to wait for Allie’s to get in range so they can also get healed
Is Scarlet Aeonia good, should i duplicate my remembrance?
Those Fire's Deadly Sin ankles...
Meanwhile Kalé is sweating through every pore scared shitless of the Tarnished going crazy just a few meters away
Can you make a 100% guide checklist video of all the items in the game scrolling though your inv
wow who wants to be a spell caster after seeing all that!!
i think faith is better paired with a weapon enless you do a dragon priest. i think sorcery is better for pure damage with spells.
honestly you don't really need a weapon if you go full faith/arcane.
That set is kinda lit
Can you use Poison Armament on Reduvia Blade? If yes will normal attacks deal blood loss and posion? I don't have the skill yet so I can't test.
And here I thought astrologer’s have got powerful spells than prophets
Death lighting for when regular lighting just can’t get it done
....I never knew about Poison Mist or Darkness! Why did I never come across those?!
I believe in stone of gurranq supremacy
definitley missing some incantations, but still good job
Kale was found fearing for his life in the corner
I remeber a guy using an incantation where he made a seal drop on bosses that staggered them for a couple of seconds, I don't know which one it is
That's not an incantation, that's Margit's Seal, a reusable item you get from Patches. You can use it in the Margit and Morgott fights
Who else thinks the law of causality incantation is another reference to Berserk?
Damn Theodorix's Magma is broken. It just does Magma Breath when I equip and use it.
Most of the lightning likes to com from the sky...wheres my great lightning bolt and stuff
I feel like most of the high faith and fp incants are just never worth it
As a hard faith main, can confirm I basically only use Giantsflame or rotten breath
the rings of light incantations are amazing, anybody knows if the dmg on them are worth the investment ? 😃
What are your character sliders? PLEASE
Why no timestamps for every single incantation like in the sorceries video? It's a real nuisance to regularely search for a specific incantation like this 😠
I wish there was an incantation that can make you vomit scarlet rot like the cleanrot knights do lol
Dragon Cult Incantations look interesting, might have to try to get those for my 2nd character.
And there are some incantations that only use INT??? Might have to look into those for my main build.
I think just Law of Regression, which is a defensive/utility spell.
Can’t help but feel like this video would be cooler if you were using the incantations on an enemy
If anyone needs it (im bit sure if its 100%) to weild it all you need 37int
50fai
17arc
ok my incantations are memorized already into 3 slots but menu appears faded out.... what is going on? is it just me passing truh this?
I mean this is a great video but it would've been better if you SHOWED us where you got the spells and incantations.
Kale should be pretty nervous at this point
