425 because there's no way in hell the 430's $180 higher pricetag justifies any gains you might see from it.
Golfers are such babys about sound of a driver. I have a g425 and honestly it doesn't put me off. Nobody in my group has ever made a single comment about it sounding awful. yet golf reviewer after golf reviewer seems to harp on and on like it's the most ear piercing noise known to man kind... you are whacking a golf ball with something metal... and it sounds like it. Idk. I have only been golfing a few years but some golfers have the strangest hang ups.
“It’s the best driver I’ve ever owned” … proceeds to take it out of the bag for something else. I don’t get it either.. first world problems I guess or maybe the need to give the latest and “greatest” a stamp of approval. A driver can sound like a school bus fire as long as I’m hitting fairways consistently I couldn’t care less. I took this opportunity to bag a 425 at a discount.
Agree. Most guys I play with love the louder sound of the 425
Agree. I’ve used G10 G30 and now the G425 and they all make a louder sound and I’ve never cared nor has anyone else except for UA-cam guys that do club reviews!
Sound and feel are very much connected and highly subjective.
Slower swingers often get a lot of confidence and a sense of power from a louder sounding driver.
Many faster swinging players prefer a more muted sound from their driver.
Most reviewers on UA-cam are in the last category.
Hearing them complain about the sound being too loud can actually be an endorsement for you.
@@roykullick5273 the overwhelming vast majority of golfers don't give a shit. I have asked so many people in person and they almost always say they don't even think about how it sounds. UA-cam is just an echo chamber.
I’ve been using the g425 for the last year and a half. The driver has been phenomenal, I think you learn to live with the sound when the results are so good.
350 yard drives with my ping..I can live with that shotgun sound
Fitted this morning against my 425lst, gained everywhere and feel / sound and the new tour black shaft a massive improvement, ordered 👍👍
I’ve compared the 430 to my current 425 and I actually got a little bit more out of my 425 and also felt it was more forgiving for me so even tho I love the 430 I’ll be sticking with the 425 for now.

I've been contemplating switching from my Cally Rogue ST Max LS to the G425 Max as I didn't think there would be THAT much difference for the extra cost of the G430 Max... then I find this year old review! I've tried out the 2024 drivers from Callaway, Taylormade and Cobra and none were a big enough leap in distance and dispersion for me to consider switching. This has me wondering whether I should save future added spend and find a used G430 max. Time to think about a Ping fitting to get a proper comparison done. Really useful and well crafted review vid gents. Thanks!
Ping fan here, loved my G420 & G425. I got a Sim 3 wood and found it went as far as my G425. Was fitted this week for a G430. We Compared the G430 with the G425 & Sim on the Trackman. The Sim & G425 were very similar for distance. The G430, once we’d found the right shaft, was 15/20 yards longer with a lower piercing flight and no loss of forgiveness, absolutely love it 👍👍

Great showdown lads. I like the comparison from new model to previous, it really shows the improvements that ping have made.
I had a G410 that was stolen. When I tried out the G425, it just sounded like I was hitting the ball with a wok! I didn’t need to rouse the attention of others with it as I really didn’t hit it that far. As a result I found a new (old stock) G410 and played that. If the G430 is quieter AND adds distance, I shall have to give it a try.
G425 LST hands down the best driver I have ever owned. After watching this I’m more than excited for the G430 LST I have ordered to arrive!
Absolutely love my new G430 max driver and fairway wood. More consistent on miss hits, longer carry, better dispersion. Has changed my driving game and the fairway is alot easier to launch off the deck.
Relatable speeds for general population to show real gains especially in indoor setting. Great Review.

Brilliant review Dan and Lee. I reckon the best one online by some margin. I am looking to go from a G400 to G430 …. With big expectations!! Previous new models haven’t shown big changes and sound of the G425 was terrible.

Looks a nice club, I use the G425 so will be probably staying with that for now and wait till next year before looking to change.
Great show guys, really enjoyed this one. I have always been a Ping fan, even though I have never owned a Ping club. My current driver is the Cleveland Launcher XL, bought last year. I t does the job well, and if I haven't bought it only a year ago, I would have bought the G430 Max.
Bit of a taylormade fan myself I tried the newer stealth 2 (own a stealth atm) I'm a very low spin but higher speed player and my misses with the stealth are dead duck hooks diving out the sky as low as 400rpm at times.
I averaged 250 yards carry and 13 launch with my stealth 1600rpm spin
G430 I averaged 274 yards carry and 16 launch with just shy 2000rpm spin. The difference I flight was amazing.
Ball speed was pretty much the same which was amazing aswel as the stealth has been the fastest ball speed for me when testing other clubs.
Needless to say g430 was ordered
Tried all the other drivers too tsi range tsr range rouge st etc. Hated the sound on the g425 hit it twice and couldn't bare to hit any more when I tried it.
Wow! Your distance differential is a lot greater Han all the other reviews. Will look at the 430 for 10 yards. At 5 yards not worth spending the money. Thanks for reviewing👍
Out of all the reviews I've watched it would be between the Ping and Callaway
Saw the 430 the other day in the pro shop and it sits beautifully at address. Definitely want to try it even though my Mizuno is only 6 months old

Have seen this compared to the new calllaway and stealth on other channels not quite as long but more forgiving which is what always do

I switched from Ping to Calloway in 2016, but this 430 could get me back.
Really enjoyable and informative review. Is it a big leap from what the G410 offers?
Not huge to be honest
I Love my G425 SFT and had no thoughts of changing. After this test though I have to test the G430 to see what it does for me. Thanks for a great test. I would have liked to have seen the dispersion circles (means more to me than sq yds.

I personally prefer the look of the 425 driver, having just the black and grey color scheme rather than adding in some green. Just never really liked having green on a golf club head, always thought the Rapture clubs from way back in the day were rather ugly because of that lol.

Just purchased my G425 Max less than a month ago. Keep hearing how bad it sounds in reviews. I’m a ham and egger golfer so I’m sure my swings aren’t strong enough to notice. Still curious though to hit a G430 to able to say I did. But so far I’m enjoying my G425 Max.

I bought a G425 during the 2020 covid summer with no fitting, just a demo club that I tried and liked. It had the 40g shaft in it (Men’s Senior shaft). I just went to a Ping fitting recently and he decided that the best shaft for me was the Alta CB 55 g shaft (SR, soft regular or senior) with the new 430 head. I then had him put that shaft on my G425 and I hit that the best. So, decided to just get the counter balanced shaft and keep the 425 head for now. My carry distance on a good drive is about 180 yards - pretty good for a women in her 60s. Very forgiving for off-center hits. Sound doesn’t bother me.

Have a g410 3w and a g425 2H very tempted to move up from callsway xr16 to the g430 love the (rare) sound of a middled ping
Hi Dan & Lee Great test 👍, Delighted to see the 430 beat the 425👌, Last Feb changed from G410 to Rogue Max D, for better Distance & Ball Speed, had changed the back weight in the Ping from 12grams to 6grams for extra swing speed, Will test the G430 in the light weight version against the Para/dym X, Thanks Dickey 9hcp 75year Senior Golfer
I have the G410 and didn’t see much difference with the G425 but will definitely look at the G430 along with the Callaway Paradigm as soon as testing becomes available.. I didn’t like the turbulators until I got my ping now think they help frame the ball so love them.. 👍👍
Likewise … I currently play a Ping G410 driver. Will be testing the Ping G430 and Callaway Paradym drivers. I am including the Callaway driver since I hit the Callaway ST Rouge fairway woods better than any other fairway wood I have ever tried. By the way, the Ping G430 hybrid looks great as well. Currently I am playing a Ping G425 5-hybrid.
I thought my sim2 would never leave me but this seems to tick everyone's boxes , last ping was the Rapture V2

I play Ping G710 irons…..when I went for a driver fitting last spring, I tried the G425 and did not love it……I ended up with the Rogue ST! It certainly sounded much better than the Ping.
I won’t be shopping for a new driver any time soon, but I think the G430 could have been a winner for me!
Good review and might go back to Ping after this review as the G30 driver was the😰 best I have ever owned until the hosel/ sleeve split Grrr

I’ve always been a Callaway gal but just got a driver fitting and the Ping G430 Max was the best driver for me. I was honestly surprised and a bit disappointed the Paradym driver wasn’t for me, but I happily switched to the Ping
Play with a pal that has a Ping driver always sounds terrible took them years to sort this out, now to get him to buy the new one so I don’t need ear surgery after each round!

I turned 70 this week and I'm treating myself to a new full bag and want the Ping G430 irons (I'm 1st out with wet grass)and will try the Ping G430 driver. I'm interested in how it compares to the Callaway Paradym! I currently have the Mizuno ST190 HL at 11.5º.

I purchased a new driver at the end of last year and did consider the G425 as I heard so many good things about it (In the end I went for the TSI2). You would expect the G430 to be an improvement but isn't always the with later models. Sounds like Ping have done a good job with the G430
Had the G410 and loved it. Unfortunately I broken the screw for moving the weight and had to send it in for repair. The didn't repair it but instead sent me back a G425, which I couldn't get used to, mostly do to the sound. I wound up trading it for the TM Sim2. I can see myself going back to Ping with this newest version, at least after watching all the reviews so far.

Interesting that in every video I've seen the spin of the G430 Max is significantly higher than the G425. This video it's 32-33% higher.
Ok Lee….have a G400 wife that I love very much & I think if my testing of G430 is anything like yours then I am going to be filing for divorce soon. Quite excited about this one.
I have the G400 max but my irons are older -2014 or 15 . I have already gained yardage and improved dispersion through improved technique this last year so I am more likely to see better gains from new irons
Just upgraded irons from G25 to i525’s. Will be getting custom fitting in next few weeks to upgrade my G Series Hybrids, 3 Wood & Driver all to G430’s. Hoping to see improvements in both distance and dispersion.

I'm still in my Ping G400 max currently but this is the year for an upgrade. Can't wait to get a test of this along with the Callaway Paradym but I'm a huge ping fan at the top of the bag, driver, 3 wood and hybrid they are just all provide so much help. Anyone who buys a new driver and hasn't at least tested a Ping has missed out
It would be nice to see on course testing, does the extra yardage seen on the simulator actually give extra yardage on the course.
That’s why you only really look at carry distance. That way you know if one is longer than the other as roll is alway subjective to course conditions.
When you’re testing you’re better off controlling as many variables as possible.. you wouldn’t know if one shot hits a gust of wind or pitches into a an upslope or a wet patch etc
With the Ping G 425 the loud turns into music.
Great content guys n showdown. I'm opposite to lee. Love me cobra but just can't stand looking at the turbulators on top of the ping.
Only downside of the 425's is that they sound just like the Cobra drivers from the mid 2000's, where you could hear someone strike a ball on the course with these things the next town over LOL.

Ive grown to love the 425 sound.
Looking at diferent videios comparing the G430 and the G425 if the difference is only more sound dampening on the G430 I will stick with my G425 Max, I like the loud sound it seems all the other statistics are the same, I would not bother to upgrade JMO
Just tried the g430 against my 425 the upshot was the 425 performance was as good with a new chrome 2.0 shaft fitted
Great review. I am currently gaming the G425 and have been for over a year. The frustrating thing for me is that my ball speed is 4mph faster with the Stealth, however can't keep it in play enough, therefore I stuck with G425 as it is so forgiving even with the loss of distance. I really wanted to know if they fixed the slow ball speed with the G430 and it sounds like they have. If that is the case it may be the perfect driver even over the LST. Seems as if the LST is not much faster than the Max just a bit more roll and less forgiving?.

I have the 425 LST and love it, except for the sound. Seriously considering trying the 430 LST, but can't justify a purchase if it doesn't out perform the 425. We'll see what happens at the local Ping day.
I have the G410, and some have told me its better than the G425, I'm definitely going to try the G430 when I can

I personally like the added colors. I find it odd how a lot of reviewers complain in the past about color on drivers especially when cobra came out with f9. Reviewers seem to always want black finish and same look at address. I like what Taylor made did with colored faces.
I started golf late In my life. I recall walking into golf store first time and being drawn to nike yellow and cobra colors.
I will never understand golfers objections to different colors.
I did find it funny when cobra changed the f9 shape a lot of reviewers had negative feed back.
Now taylor made first, the Callaway, and ping took on a look more like cobras. Now everyone is ok with this shaped head? Actually I think pings head might of been closer shape to cobra when f9 came out?

I’m still using an sft g400, which has been a great club for me. I think though that I’m going to change my irons first, from ping karstens to the 430.

I'd love to see a Ping 430 vs Cobra Aerojet head to head. I play a Cobra driver at the moment and up until now would never consider the Ping because of the noise it makes. That's changed.

The sound of G430 is sounds like my G400.
I use the G425 and will not be changing due to price. The G425 does what I want and there is no reason to change other than distance. I haven’t had an issue with the sound (mainly because I have a hearing issue😂😂)
How can you do a comparison without club data?
As I was only fitted for my titleist near the end of last year I’m not going to test anything else in case it is better lol
I had a good season last year with the G410 LST. Wasn't fitted. Just a 55S CB shaft. Got from 17 to 11 HC. Treated myself to the G425 LST a week after the season finished. Played some bounce rounds, and OMG the sound of the G425 would wake the deepest sleepers 10 miles away. Horrific. Instantly hated it. I genuinely had no idea how different they were, and just walked in and traded the G410 in for the new G425. Big mistake. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. I haven't tried the G430 drivers yet, but considering just picking up my old driver for this season. Won't trust that process ever again.
Going to have to give it a hit. Would never have considered ping on the old sound alone. That's changed.

Good review - the turbulators / dragonfly does not work for me, but I can see many upgrades for Ping users on the acoustics alone - time for Ping to offer a special trade-in allowance?

I never mention price because it changes from Country to Country and times of the year. If I mention the price it will be out of date within a month
I play the the 425 LST it works for me , do I want to spend that extra $ for the 430 probably not maybe a year from 😁
