    Your strobes were off, that’s probably why your engines gave up ;)

      This varies with different airline SOP’s. Some leave the strobes in the AUTO position whilst other turn them ON when entering an active runway. When left on AUTO, the strobes turn on automatically when the main gear strut is not compressed, i.e. after rotation.

    Brilliant video. Be amazing if you would talk also. I think after all these years of flying I’m still amazed how an plane can fly with only one engine. I know it’s obviously a fail safe that all twin engine plane have to pass regulations to sustain flight with one engine. Technology is a wonderful thing. I love what Fenix have done. I’m an Airbus pilot myself on a320 and a330. Airbus are fabulous machines to fly. Any tips just ask me

    Hey! What's your opinion about the Fenix single engine performance? For me if an engine quits after the calculated V1 speed the plane is totally unable to achieve rotation speed within the runway, let alone clear obstacles, even with some good 7-8 tons under MTOW.

    Hi! Why u not consider ENG failure with out damage case?

    • @georgeb6909
      @georgeb6909 2 роки тому

      Engine failure with damage:
      - No N1 and/or N2 rotation
      - High EGT
      - Vibration + noise
      - loud bang during engine failure
      Engine failure without damage:
      - you still have N1 and N2 rotation bcz of windmilling
      - EGT is slowly decreasing
      - no vibration or weird sounds

    • @LorenzoGiordanoGomes
      @LorenzoGiordanoGomes Рік тому

      T.O. Inhibit. Airbus aircraft are some smart pieces of metal, they know when they're in critical phases of flight and won't bother you with unnecessary alarms. An engine failure during takeoff is a pretty obvious scenario and an alarm won't do much more than increase stress. So a single ding is enough to make sure you're aware. Same thing applies during landing.

    Amazing. Could you add a PTU failure to this so we have no G HYD? We should loose gear retraction (if no already retracted), some spoiler, the autobrakes and the main brake system. It should be very interesting to see your handling! Thanks.

    Thank you for this video! Can you please tell me how you program an engine failure at a specific time in the Fenix? I only found a way to make it happen right now, or as a random failure. Is it possible to set an engine failure at takeoff at a specific speed?

    • @LorenzoGiordanoGomes
      @LorenzoGiordanoGomes Рік тому

      It is. In the MCDU menu you can go to Config > Manual Failures, select the category you want, switch the activation from "immediately" to "conditional", find your desired failure and then click on the failure you chose. A menu with some criteria will pop up. IIRC those are speed, altitude and time.

    You didn't Trim the rudder before engagement autopilot

  • @airborne971
    @airborne971 2 роки тому

    Aren't the rudder and the ailerons trim included in this kind of failure ? I want to know why you didn't use them...

    • @Nicholas-vq8fj
      @Nicholas-vq8fj  2 роки тому +2

      I did actually trim the rudder as required but it was cut from the video. Generally in normal law the aircraft flight control computers automatically add in a little bit of rudder to keep the flight path stabilised. But this deflection of rudder is not sufficient enough to fully compensate for the asymmetrical thrust so I did manually apply rudder trim.

      @@mr.andrex228 The failure prevents the chances of a relight so although the procedures from the QRH include an attempted relight as there is no confirmation of permanent damage, I decided to secure the engine and proceed to land single-engine.

      ENGINE CONSIDERED DAMAGED
      WHEN:
      • High vibration prior to flame out.
      • Loud noise, explosion.
      • Repeated and uncontrollable engine stalls.
      • Abnormal engine indications on ECAM (such as
      N1 or N1 ~ 0).
      • Damage visually detected by the crew
      In this case we had N1 = 0 => Engine damaged, no relight mate :)

      @acspectre3130 2 роки тому

      @@doanbay919 How usual is it to have no rotation of the N1 fan? With that much airflow, wouldn't you expect some form of windmilling? Even a tug pulling an aircraft forward at 5kts gets the blade to rotate!

    Beta target indication is absent

    • @Nicholas-vq8fj
      @Nicholas-vq8fj  2 роки тому +2

      One engine above 80%N1, 35%N1 differential between the two engines (CFM56) and a stage of flaps, the beta target indication will be visible. On the approach phase and fully configured for landing (flap full), power setting is generally around 70%N1 so there will be a side-slip indicator on the PFD, not the beta target indicator. If I decided to go around, which is obviously to be avoided with an engine out, the beta target indicator will be visible on the PFD. Either this logic is incorrect or the Fenix simply hasn’t modelled it yet ;)
