this is well done tech
Nice Drones, can't wait to use them!
Very nice
I liked the tilted rotor unit that used rubber to control the tilt of the motors. The saying of simplicity is the best way cannot be stated more clearly. Nice video Tech Planet and look forward to more great things from you Sir.
The military drone was neat. I think they can be made more sloppily and less expensively for many situations. Often, they don't have to be perfect.
1) toroidal propeller look a little less dangerous since if something approaches at a parallel plane it'll be bounced off instead of chopped by the blades
I'd like to see the toroidal propellor concept on a swamp boat or hovercraft? Noise reduction, increased thrust, better fuel economy?
Nice video, as always! 🚀 Your ability to simplify complex tech concepts makes learning a breeze. Looking forward to more of your insightful content. Thumbs up if you're eager for the next one! 👍📱
ive long thought coaxial is the way to go. thats my pic for coolest design.
Sadly, the toroidal fad will be short lived. Many have now reproduced the MIT "results", and it boils down to less noise = less lift and less rpm. Just a novelty and perhaps a way to stop as much damage from prop hits, however wouldn't fix the problem of the weight falling from a height or a strike from something going >50 mph.
Are there any known orb shaped drones, size of a larger medicine ball, orange/copper looking very shiny metal, closed casing with different parts but no visible rotors or anything? Because I saw this from my desk, just casually flying aroud the neighbour office building at noon last week and I thought, what a fancy looking drone. But I tried to google it and can't find anything like it?
Hmm... I wonder if one of those drones could be used to automatically deliver a beer to my husband when he's watching ball games on TV? It's kind of inconvenient having to interrupt what I'm doing to run and get him a beer. It would be super if we could offload that task to a drone. Attach an automatic door opener to the fridge, and with a drone which has the entire house mapped out, he could tell the drone to step and fetch it instead of me or the kids.
I almost made it to halfway through before my brain broke.
Ive seen a coupke videos that did independent tests of the toroidal propeller, and it doesn't seem to deliver on MITs claims according to them.
Why not have a chain of drones each connected with a wire so they can transfer electricity and share the weight of the wire? then this chain could fly down tunnels.
When Azl wake up
The MIT propeller is not quieter. If you look at the data in the patent they claim the frequency is "less annoying". It is the exact same db. Also these props are heavy and take a long time to spool up. So they are less efficient and have worse stability.
