I have a clothing rack with the extendable arms, I use that to measure, and cut the cord. I slide the arm off and insert a dowel to hang the cord on. That way it just rolls off the spool without running around the room.
So happy you mentioned the fabric stiffener! I literally tried my first macrame yesterday and my second attempt was a feather. It worked out really well, except I wondered how you can get the feather to stay in place! Now I know. 😊
Thanks for that . I have the dressmaker’s scissors it’s a game changer . I will get a clothes rack though I haven’t tried wall hangings yet . Just some pot holders and small stuff . Your videos are the best on UA-cam . I feel I have a real grasp of macrame now because of you thanks ❤
That's so nice to hear 😊 If you want to try a wall hanging first before buying the clothes rack there are certainly ways to do that - I was hanging mine from the curtain rods for the first two or three pieces...
I use the metal macrame comb from Hobby Lobby and its worked the best for me so far! Metal slides right through and has enough strength to not break. It has two widths so you use the wide one to start and the thin one to finish. Best part, it doesnt damage the cord like a dog brush will.
On the sewing scissors, it is a real hand saver if you get the good ones with a spring so you don't have to open them each cut. Relieves so much stress off the hands.

Hi from Mumbai India just want to compliment you for all your macrame but the best part is the way you explain everything so clearly I am happy I found you
Thank you once again for such a clear and helpful video. Have you had luck using the stiffening spray on longer fringe? I like to unravel my cords sometimes for a soft wavy fringe. But they like to recoil.
I use the stiffening spray on shorter fringe - like when I do macrame wreaths or mandalas. There is works like a wonder 🙂 But on longer fringe I usually don't want the stiff look, I want it to be more wavy so I leave it be. I will actually be posting a new video in a few days of a wall hanging that has quite a long fluffy fringe 😌
Thank you with the list. I need to buy the clothing rack and the brush. Even I’m a beginner I’ve already had a problem with the long flower hanger as it was so long and I didn’t have any hook on the walls which I could’ve keep it and I had to go to our toilet to make it. I already have a great glue gun as I’m doing a lots of things where I use it and good quality seamstress scissors as I need them when I make clothing stuff.

Hey Nadia, I know this may not be relevant anymore but I like the pointy ends because if I am taking my piece off the rack and then back on again it's really easy to slide the pointy ends in between the cords if they are a bit tight. But I haven't tried using any other S hooks so maybe any S hook would work just as well...
That would be really nice too but I haven't seen any that would advertise that kind of a feature. I think not many people are after that as they will usually have the clothing rack out more permanently...

Hi Anick, I've had that one for a couple years now and I unfortunately don't remember where I got it from 😔. I was able to find the exact same one on the German Amazon though amzn.to/3DJDPoN. Well maybe now is a good time to start 😉 I do sell my pieces but I don’t put that much time and effort into it so only a few get sold here and there. If you are asking because you would like to buy one then you can reach out to me either through the email uzliky@gmail.com or on my Instagram @uzliky. And if you want to know more about how I make money with macrame I talk about it in this video ua-cam.com/video/s2VtSvNfnBE/v-deo.html
I know I am answering this kinda late so you may have already found this but I have a video all about beads and that's where I talk about that needle more ua-cam.com/video/W21d_GpFaUA/v-deo.html
That's great! 😊 I don't have any experience with adhesive spray but like with any spray I would say test it out on a small piece of fringe separate from your project and you will see...
Can you please let me know the time of the video that you are asking about? I don’t remember when I was talking about a chandelier…I use a hot melt glue gun 😉
What do people who are left handed do to making it easier when it comes to trimming the chord. At the moment I am working on doing feathers when it comes to trimming it I find it hard because I’m left handed.
The clothing rack in the link you provided is sold out.. I've tried looking for a similar one (single bar at the bottom, adjustable height) but cannot find one...
Your storage rack looks like the one i have and the top bar does extend, there are tabs on the ends that move and the bar extends out. Maybe yours does
Hmm, I looked at it again after reading your comment but unfortunately they don't, the black plastic at the ends is a solid piece. But it's okay, it's not critical that the bars don't extend out...Thank you for your comment 😉
Does anyone have a suggestion or maybe even a hack for hanging pieces while working on them besides the clothing rack? Macrame is a hobby for me, creating pieces for my home as I need them, so a clothing rack is a bit of an overkill in my case . At the moment I am working on a pendant lampshade and am struggling with a place to hang a hoop horizontally. TIA for any suggestions! 😊
So for wall hangings before I got the clothing rack I used a hanger that I would hang on a curtain rod and then on the hanger I would attach the dowel with some string. For chandeliers I always use a tyre rack (you can check it out in one of my chandelier videos) so maybe you have one of those at home...?
I live in New Zealand and have been unsuccessfully trying to find fabric stiffener spray. Could you please tell me the name of the one you use and/or where I can purchase it? Amazon may not ship it to NZ but maybe there is another supplier? Thanks :)
I actually switched to a regular hairspray a few months ago. I ran out of the fabric stiffener spray (it was a Czech brand) and I thought I would see if the hairspray works…and I think it does 🙂 so find one that is strong enough, test it on a piece of cord and you should be good 😉
I will repost my answer from another comment here: I actually bought meathooks (kinda gross, I know) because I couldn't find bigger S-hooks either. I have all kinds of sizes, between 10 - 20 cm
So this might be a bit weird but I am actually using meat hooks...I found those in many more sizes than regular S hooks and I do appreciate the pointy ends especially if my cords are really tight at the top and I need to squeeze the hook through. Here are some on Amazon that look quite similar to mine amzn.to/3GR9acd

I saw in one of your videos a needle type tool. Can you tell me more about that and where to get it?
Thank you
I know I am answering this kinda late so you may have already found this but I have a video all about beads and that's where I talk about that needle more ua-cam.com/video/W21d_GpFaUA/v-deo.html
Your video's are great and I have a clothing rack but not the right one I see, so I go to invest in an other one :-)
Thanks 😊 well but if the rack is working for you then no need to buy a new one of course 😉
I love your videos and tips. One question, is Adhesive spray as good as fabric stiffener?
That's great! 😊 I don't have any experience with adhesive spray but like with any spray I would say test it out on a small piece of fringe separate from your project and you will see...
What kind of chandelier? Can you show what you are talking about please. Lots of great tips! Do you use low melt, or hot melt glue in the glue gun?
Can you please let me know the time of the video that you are asking about? I don’t remember when I was talking about a chandelier…I use a hot melt glue gun 😉
Gracias!!!!!!
Muy útil!
Thank you!
Have you had any luck yet? I wasn’t able to find a good alternative either…
@@annabaginova01 Sadly, I have not. I have one that is only height adjustable until I can replace it with one that is height+width adjustable
Hi Anna! 🤗 just a question. Have you ever dyed your own macrame cord?
Hey Lisa, I have not but it is definitely on my list to try! Have you tried it?
@@annabaginova01 no, not cord. I do my own fabric for crossstitch tho.
@@TxgrlnGa oh, that sounds really interesting too! Well if you would have any tips that you think could be helpful for dying cord I’m all ears 😁
@@annabaginova01 next time I dye fabric, I’ll do a test in cord and let you know
@@TxgrlnGa Awesome! 😊
I ran out of the fabric stiffener spray (it was a Czech brand) and I thought I would see if the hairspray works…and I think it does 🙂 so find one that is strong enough, test it on a piece of cord and you should be good 😉
@@annabaginova01 Thank you, that's a great idea! Really appreciate your help :)
Mem plz share video of jute material wall hanging piece
I will definitely share here if I ever make one but jute is not the best material to work with so I will have to see…
What size s hooks do you have?....I can't seem to find ones that are large enough!
I will repost my answer from another comment here: I actually bought meathooks (kinda gross, I know) because I couldn't find bigger S-hooks either. I have all kinds of sizes, between 10 - 20 cm
What S hooks are you using and where did you get them? Yours are larger for hanging a larger dowel
How do you clean macrame with yellowing?
I don’t know that you can…I’ve had this happen to me once or twice and I never managed to get it off.
Hi from Australia. Thank you so much for your brilliant videos and easy to understand instructions. I’ve been trying to work out your accent 🤔
I'm glad you like them! 😊 Well I am from the Czech Republic but I've spent some time in the US so that might explain the mix...
@@annabaginova01 Arh yes that will explain it ha ha. I thought you might be Canadian or something. What ever it is, it’s a nice accent and it makes your tutorials more interesting :) thanks again from Australia 🇦🇺
Which brand of spray
Since publishing this video I have moved on to using just regular hairspray, any brand will do I think as long as it's strong enough.
Rack, scissors glue gun BRUSH!
You got it 😉
THERE IS POSIBLE TO USE INSTEAD OF A STIFENER LACA FOR HAIR
Right, that's definitely an option too, you just always need to be careful that whatever you are using doesn't damage the cords.
I do not see your supply list in the comments. Did I misunderstand?
You might need to click on "show more" to expend the entire description section where you will find that list of tools 😉
Please open translations for Arabic
I want to add more subtitles eventually once I can spare the money...
@@annabaginova01 Thank you very much for your interest, and I wish God's abundant sustenance for you
No
I am not sure what to respond here...
Анна, вы русская? Ваше имя и фамилия.. Вы свободно говорите на двух языках? :)
I am Czech 😉 So Czech is my native language and if you consider my English fluent then I guess I am fluent in two languages 😌
