- After winning virtually every international tournament including FIBA invitationals and the Red Bull King of the Rock, a group of guys from Novi Sad, Serbia have established themselves as a force in the world of 3 on 3 basketball. The VICE Serbia office went out to Novi Sad to see how the guys live, train and the fanfare (or complete lack thereof) that comes with being the best in the world.

3x3 ain't meaningless. For 2 reasons 1. It is the largest urban team sport in the world. 2. It is now an Olympic sport making its debut in Tokyo 2020.
I played against them back in 2013 at the official fibo 3x3 in Switzerland and even got to meet vlade divac ... they destroyed us, never lost so badly. was a nice experience though, they deserved it
Bs. The game for 3x3 are online. The quality isnt that great. So i doubt elite basketballs player would struggle against similar competition

I've watched this guys here in the Philippines, man they're fundamental and basic, such a beauty to watch them.
To everyone comparing these guys to the NBA, streetball is a different game. Yes top NBA players might be able to beat them, but they're not going for rings here. And NBA players aren't going for streetball titles. It's really a meaningless comparison, just show respect where it's due, these guys are doing what they love and are pretty good at it.

It’s not “might” be able to beat them, any team of 3 would get destroyed. When they play the US it’s a close game, and the guys that are representing the US are just G league guys at best, some even just straight out of high school.

There is a very touchy Serbian movie "Skyhook". It's about people building a basketball court in ruins and playing basketball, while Belgrade was under bombing campaign of NATO.... I recommend it to you and your friends, just find english subtitles, it's a very good and also sad movie....

I hope some NBA players and execs get to see this.... It would be great for someone to start basketball Clinics in Novi Sad.... They have the perfect enviornment to build a basketball powerhouse.... people tend to take sports more seriously when there are less opportunities in their area.... Its a great coping mechanism and it is a great metaphor for life.... These guys wont be able to play forever, and it would be great if someone got together with them and helped them build a world class basketball clinic that they could run by themselves

Well there's also a number of very successful serbian baskteball players (both former and current) that had/have their own fair share of million dollar contracts up their asses so they should be the ones to have a more broad-minded approach to do something about this. You can't expect much from the government and even less so from the NBA. Those players in the NBA have their own neighbourhoods and communities waiting to be taken care of, basketball facilities in Novi Sad is something nonessential to them and understandably so. First you need to do something for your own community, if you wont do it, who else will?

well there are enough videos on youtube to do that. just search for 3v3 basketball serbia. There is ton of content for you. This documentary is about them and their environment.
Wasn't really about the skills but rather their lives and how basketball is used as a means to living

I am baffled by the stupidity of people. These guys are not pro, they do not play basketball, they play streetball so stop comparing them to pro basketball players. They are street players, and in their sport, they are the best. Soo STFU and respect their success.
So many people on here claiming these guys would get destroyed. I guarantee these guys are legit and will hold their own in any 3 on 3 tournament. I've been playing basketball for almost 40 years and I see it every day. Guys who are hungry beat guys who are more talented almost every single time. But these guys are hungry AND talented. Plus they work together. That's a tough team to beat. I would put my money on them in a heart beat!

The Balkan nations are unique in terms of producing great athletes. Serbia,Croatia,Slovenia and others.They have world class teams in basketball, football,handball, volleyball you name it.

Serbia has 8 mill people . The USA has 318 million. These Americans need to stop big noting themselves.
This part of Europe(Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Slovenia) has possibly the most talented batch of Basketballers in the world per capita. Players like Petrovic, Cosic, Rada, Kukoc, Stojakovic, Bogdanovic, Divac, Krstic, Danilovic, Dragic, Vucevic, Mirotic,Teletovic, Nurkic. This region of Europe has approx 20 mill people , but a combined team even today would give the USA a good run for their money.

Some people say that Street-ballers don't belong in the NBA, but their style of unorthodox play keeps the game alive. These guys are dedicated to their game, and I wish the NBA would do more to scout players from areas like this. One of my favorite players of all time, White Chocolate, was a street-baller from small town West Virginia and he tore it up in the NBA. Imagine what the NBA would be like with more players like him or these guys.

So many dumb comments. Read the description. These guys have won virtually every 3 on 3 tournament in the World, so they are in fact the best 3 on 3 team in the World. It's irrelevant to say NBA players would beat them, because 3 on 3 on the blacktop is a different thing than 5 on 5 indoors, you shouldn't compare them. They have repeatedly beaten teams from every corner on the globe and they are the holding World Champions of 3 on 3 basketball. Period.

There's 280 000 people playing 3x3 basketball in the World and these guys are the best in it. Sport is under FIBA and is a professional sport, not amateur.

I played a lot of pickup basketball with serbian people and I can say those guys were focusing on fundamentals and to be as effective as possible. No flashy moves, no behind the back passes or jacking up 3s. Just the basics, and they were really good at that and difficult to stop, even when you know their move set. Those are guys you want on your team to win.

A little short on actual story. I was hoping for some narrative. Not trying to troll. We met three guys, heard they were the best, some lady who didn't recognize them and went to the doctors and to sell clothes with a girl and the film was half over. Then we get random tidbits about how depressing their lives are. The camera work was nice.

what if i told you that rules and style of play in 3v3 is whole another sport than standard 5v5 ball.. i met some players dominate 3v3 and be just average in 5v5 game. im sure that those guys can beat some nba boys just because of the style and way it is played.
Sure but these guys are not beating a 3 man team composed of either KD, Giannis, AD, Lebron, Kawhi, Steph etc. even in 3v3. Theres a reason NBA superstars make 20 plus million and theyre not.

Some of you are missing the point...they are basically still amateurs and not professionals...of course they would lose to a trio from the nba at least if you put 3 teammates from an nba team together and they dont even need to be all-star level, the key is just to be well teamed up and know how to play with each other, so even if you take 3 average players from a team like the 76ers they would probably still beat these guys...just like a chess hustler from washington square park would hardly stand a chance against any grandmaster in a fair chess game.

You see Dusan Bulut, pure Serbian, Dinaric gen, best genetics in the world, like Mexicans, Mediternians, but much higher and stronger. That are Serbs. People from Dinaric area(parts of Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro) are tallest on the world, and not just that. Brave, and fearless. Nikola Tesla was from this area, pure dinaric genetic.
