I installed one on my 04 jeep tj 4.0. Off a ford thunderbird, which is basically the same m90 but comes with the outlet piece already. Once u change the injectors to a 36lbs, a high flow fuel pump, and dyno tuning, and it runs beautiful. U can feel the torque right away, and without breaking ir driveshaft.
You are on the right track!! look into a m62 off of a Mercedes SLK 230. You might be able to put a really little pulley on it and get the same amount of boost. The m62 is much shorter and might fit better, at least it fits well on my 4cyl.
It's open is why it's loud. Should quiet down after the rest is hooked up. I would run an intercooler because 4.0 run hot as it is and a oil cooler adds a quart to the capacity of oil .
Omfg this is awesome! I'm building a new 4.0l to swap into my XJ when it's ready, but now you have me wanting to experiment with the old motor once the new one is ready to go in. Subd to see how this progresses 😎👍🏼
So did you finish it? That's a pretty solid way to super charge a 4.0. Did you add larger injectos/fuel pump and tune the ECU or just run the stock setup?
Just a little update. I have an Eaton M90 from a Buick 3.8 V6 on its way to me. The mounting is going to be a lot harder for me though, as I plan to keep my AC since it works well still. It'll take a while collecting parts but I can hear that lovely whine under my hood already! 😁
Thanks iv been thinking about it. Check out the video supercharged jeep test drive and watch towards the end I make a new plate and it's so much nicer cause I had a big enough piece to do it.
No any Thunderbird supercoupe blower will work. However I believe it's 94 and up that have the squared off inlet that flows better and Teflon counted rotors for better efficiency.
@@thomasbeyer The PO installed a 3" body lift so Ive got plenty of room for it. I was mainly concerned with running fuel through it. Ive only ever seen one other guy with a draw through setup on a Jeep 4.2 and Im sure he's dead by now unfortunately :/

Im planning on a top mount intercooler and a hood scoop. And an oil cooler is probably a good idea.
With how that engine scoots on a supercharger it's not unwise to add a transmission cooler. Plus a pillar cluster gauges look cool.

One video down and others to go! Can’t wait to finish up this series. Just bought a ‘96
Sweet you'll enjoy it

Awesome job! Would love to do this to my 2003 WJ!
Thank you

Wow this is bad ass!!! You should sell the plates to people!

Im looking for this plate and cannot find it. I have a mill at work, but dont have the time to do it
Blower bearings sound shot
The paint isn't pretty but the blower had new seals and bearing installed not very many miles ago. These blowers are just loud.
Is any specific year on the 🚗 u get the supercharger

In the process now of making an adapter and/or manifold for an M90 going to my carbed 4.2
That'll be cool. Blower before or after the carb?
Was trying to do a draw through as I had seen just one other Jeep have it in my life, but I couldnt ever get in touch with the guy
@@jeepingeo that would be cool. I wouldn't think it would be too hard with the gm m90. Hood clearance might be a problem

The last 4.0 engines had a distributorless ignition from the factory.
coil packs
How’s the tuning been for this thing?
Not bad IV tuned mine and have been remote tuning others with turbo and supercharged jeeps since.
Can the engine handle the boost? Is it reliable?
It's Been running 7psi for months now. So far it seems fine.
How much extra do you think your getting with 7psi
What did the blower come off of I want to do this to mine but I'm gonna try to keep the air

If you want to keep your ac I would consider a Buick style M90 and mount it on top of the intake manifold instead. Iv considered it myself.

Will this work on a WJ?
Yes but the supercharger would need pushed to the passenger side a little more to clear the coil pack I believe.
I'm wondering the exact same thing. I'm also wondering what else needs to be done. Is there a second vid?
I get annoyed when the pay and spray does not have green tire cleaner. Like bro I came here for just that !!
