    Best tip I ever got: Always pick up 1:1 and then correct the number of stitches on the first row you knit! That way the pickups aleayd look perfect! I usually go down a needlesize for the pickup and then change back directly next row. (I’m Swedish - in case you think my English is bad🤪) /Maria

    Nora don't stress about having a project on the needles for too long, my longest is...well I started it when my nephew informed me that his girlfriend was pregnant, baby great niece is now 9.5 yrs old, Yes that is YEARS. I also have a shawl/blanket since January 2023, a sweater that I started in November 2023, in the meantime I have finished about 11 projects that I have kept track of besides sewing some projects bags (6 in 3 different sizes s, m, l), sewing curtains for my dining room.... I love that you have taken that some projects will get done when they get done! It does stress me out to have so many projects on and not having to finish anything but I work on which ever I have a mood to work on and that has been so soothing and all of a sudden I find my self finishing two or three within days of each other.

    Something I've started doing when picking up is pick up all the stitches, and make decreases in the first round to get the desired amount - I find this leaves a really neat result!
    So excited to see the final skirt, I'm thinking of getting yarn for one once I've made a dent into my stash for gift knits!

    Try using stitch markers to mark every 10 or 20 stitches on the Boucle so you can take a quick glance each round and make sure you haven't added an extra stitch

    Nora, the cardigan is stunning! I’m in love with deep browns and cannot wait to see the Osi sweater. As a New England girly I want to recomendé the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival. I went Saturday and it was amazing! It was my first wool festival and I loved every minute and it was a beautiful setting. Happy knitting

    I had fallen down the Ravelry rabbit hole trying to decide what to cast on next & feeling paralyzed in my decision! Seeing you knitting up the Beatrice cardigan has motivated me to try it as well - maybe even in the same color! Yours is beautiful! I also have some boucle in my stash that I’ve never known what to do with, so now I’m anxious to see how your Artemisia test knit works out. Love your videos!

    For anyone looking to figure out a pickup rate for your own numbers, use a calculator app (or Google) and divide the # of STS you want to pickup by the # if STS you have and reduce the fraction. The number on top is how many to pickup and the bottom number is in how many. Sometimes it takes some fiddling to get the nicest numbers possible. I prefer this method cuz I don't have to visualize it at all, the numbers just tell me what to do 🤣

    Good Morning! Hoping to finish my Storms and Saints shawl and then move onto finishing my 1st Florrie Scarf so I can start on my 2nd Florrie scarf! But then there might be a small bump in the road as I just found out the yarn is in the mailbox! So there may also be a cast on! The knitting world is my oyster! And what a great day! My Nora is on! Curious how you’ll find knitting with the bouclé - I happened to be eyeing some this evening and wondered how it would be to knit, and if it’s tricky to count stitches. It makes a lovely texture and will look comfy but still put-together as a sweatshirt!
    Osi stole the show 🤎 🐾

    One quick tip on the waistband elastic. You probably know hhis already, but make sure you buy the "non-roll" elastic, especially since the 1.5" regular elastic would roll easily and become uncomfortable as well as funny looking. Ok, i absolutely adore the chestnut boucle yarn. That sweater is going to look incredible on you. Congrats on your progress so far, on reaching 11k subscribers, and your Fall knitting plan which i watched yesterday. I have to catch up on last week's video, since we had no power until Tuesday. Happy Knitting!

    The boucle project looks good. I have a lot of rust colored boucle and matching plain mohair, unraveled from a thrift store UFO, but I am in a warm climate and could not get much wear out of your project, sadly.

    Sufficiently coherent! Did you see the below comment about putting in stitch markers for boucle (check every 20 rows or so, and go back without having to ladder down--which is a bitch in boucle!). On fixing mistakes: I'm in the camp that says: a) catch them early by pausing frequently to admire your work [also good for wrists]; b) fix them if you catch them fairly soon--in fixable places; c) fix them or even tink or rip back, when they are just unbearably wrong; d) leave them if they are in hidden places, or if you decide they are an emblem of your own originality and creativity (like your imperfectly perfect idea).

  • @vindeljay
    @vindeljay 3 місяці тому

    With your Beatrix cardigan and the "mistake fixing", I'm not sure if you said you TINKED back to the row that had the wrong stitch in it, then laddered down to fix it, then of course re knitted that row. If you did, I have a hint that may help in the future. If you are not continuing in the round so you can come back to the offending line, then use your barber cords and just rearrange the needles to the offending line, then ladder down, fix, then rearrange the needles again. No tinking required.

    I honestly would sew down the waist band and leave a couple of inches open and use a safety pin to feed the elastic through. I think it would be easier. Obviously I could be wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
