    Girlie, BUY THE COLOR CATCHERS . You can get smaller boxes at any grocery. Frankly I use them in almost every wash w any colored item & it has been a life saver! They do not go bad, so they aren't a waste. Plus your skirt is much too precious. I would use 3- yes THREE- sheets in the soak for a garment that size. You will see the color in the sheet afterwards & I promise you, you will absolutely be grateful when you see what bled in soaking. I promise you.

      I agree. I use Color Catchers ALL the time. They are so worth it.

      100% I've would do both color catchers and vinegar.I used to dye yarn and I found that often manufactured yarns would bleed more often than my hand-dyed ones.

      Get the color catchers! You should put at least 3 in the soak. I quilt a lot and throw at least 5 in for a quilt. (More on larger quilts.) With knits I use 3 for the first few times you block it. Look for a small box but I buy those big boxes 2 at a time.

    My favorite way to remember front and back vs right or left. Who left the front door open = bring the stitches front for left leaning and I'll be right back = send the stitches to the back for right leaning.

    • @JoJoSXMGyal
      @JoJoSXMGyal 2 місяці тому

      Lol... Nice. I just memorized the BRB as a right leaning so when I'm ready for the left leaning I just do the opposite of BRB... Hasn't fail me once!
      I should mention I'm a "lazy" everything.. I look for shortcuts in everything. When I learnt multiplication I would multiply everything to 10 and go from there. My classmates were always shocked by how quickly I solved math problems but even though I explained my process they just said they didn't get it 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I love the cardigan! It totally has a bomber jacket feel to it. If the round neck is itchy, you can sew a ribbon along the collar edge where it touches your skin.

    I love your Beatrix cardigan 🤩.
    For me, when picking up stitches to knit the button band or for any other reason, it's about getting the right proportion between the stitch gauge and the row gauge. Not always is 2 stitches every 3 rows. So if we do the math, you come out alright-not too tight, not too loose.

    On the skirt, you could make a swatch and try different methods of blocking with the color catch, vinegar, etc. You should be able to at least get an idea on how it will bleed or if it will. I absolulty love you videos and your excitement about all of your projects!

It’s very helpful to me to listen to you talk things out because quite often I have the same issues with what I am working on! I don’t have a local yarn shop to go to when I have questions so I just wanted to say a big ol’ THANKS! I have always steered clear of boucle yarn but depending on your experience I might give it another shot with this pattern! We shall see!😊

    Hi Nora, I can certainly understand putting some of your knits on the back burner because you are so excited by another knit. When knitting button bands, I learned (and you might already know this) to divide the band up in half, then half again - putting stitch markers in those places. Then dividing the total number of stitches to be picked up by 4 (if you divided the band into 4ths) - and placing that number of stitches between each marker. But maybe your pattern didn’t give the total amount of stitches needed. Anyway… just thought I’d share that. 😅

    Hi Nora! Here with you from day one! I did right now a double knitted button band and I just found that, in order not to have the effect of an additional row with a sawn bind off, I simply bound off in the row where the last "knit two together trough the back loop" occurs. Like this everything is perfectly aligned. I hope it made sense 😅 (I'm italian, so excuse me if not!) Kisses from Italy ❤

    Personally, i LOVE the contrast of the collar with the body of the sweater! I think they complement each other very well, and it helps the boucle pop! BUT, if you dont love it, then find a yarn that will work that you DO love. Its a very simple construction, so why not give it a break, try to order something else, and start one of your other time restrictive projects?

    Can you talk about the setup rows you reference for binding off rib? I've always just done a sewn bound off as is and am wondering what the advantage is

    • @akaNoraKnits
      @akaNoraKnits  2 місяці тому

      When knitting in the round, the set up rows are two rows that consist of k1, slip 1 and then the second round is slip 1, purl 1….then sewn bind off. When knitting flat, it’s two rows of k1, slip 1 then sewn bind off.
      As far as I know, the set up rows help to keep the hems from flaring and keeping them snug. I’ve done it both ways (with and without set up rows) and have not seen a huge difference at first, but I’ve noticed that over time, the hems and cuffs with set up rows hold their shape longer!
      I hope that made sense and was helpful!!

    GIRL you KNOW you aren't happy with the color of the test knit. Like yeah you will see when the project is further along. But it seems like you really know that you're not happy with it. For how much time you spend on these projects, you deserve to be as happy as you are with the Beatrix cardigan. Sometimes it takes a little longer or a bit more money, but thats just what it is. While waiting for the yarn to come, you can get started on your other time sensitive projects. And you've made progress, but really not THAT much progress. As in, its not going to be too heartbreaking to rip back what you have now as opposed to being almost done or done and not knowing what to do with a project that you aren't quite happy with.
