I just ordered a Imovr based on your review and because I happened to order it on New Years day, got a 10% coupon. I will definitely use the trial period.

Well done, and focused review. It helped me tremendously with my decision to buy a standing desk converter for work (they weren't going to buy it so I bought one).

The problem with ALL of the Vardi-Desk platform top units is that they keep the keyboard higher than the desk top- (the keyboard sits on top of the platform raising the keyboard above the desk top by at least 3/8 inch) A good sit to stand platform should allow you to type with your shoulders at neutral (under your elbows)- your elbows should have at 90 degrees of bend- for most people a 29" desk top (industry standard) is too high to achieve neutral upper extremities. The second most glaring non UN-ERGONOMIC thing about Vari-Desk is the height of the monitor increases by 5 or 6 inches making every one who uses it left their chin - extend thier neck and look up- if you are a bifocal user you will develop neck pain from this. I work in a 3000 person company as the ergonomic expert- I have outlawed these in my company.

The weight capacity of the Varidesk single and dual monitor arms are 19.8lbs per arm.
The groove on the keyboard tray isn't for looks, it's there for ergonomic purposes. If the groove wasn't there, you would sit/stand further away from the unit itself. This groove allows you to get close enough the desk so that you do not have to hunch over when elevating the desk.

Hi Georgeos! I am happy to see someone from VariDesk address the groove on the keyboard platform. Is there any other reason for this groove? Or, is the sole purpose to get you a couple inches closer to the unit? Thanks!

I'm thinking about getting some sort of standing desk. I'm interested in the z-lifts since I can still use my desk at work while being able to stand or sit on a whim. What I am most worried about it weight capacity though. I'm using a 27 inch 2011 iMac and 2 external monitors. I was thinking I could fit the iMac and one of the monitors on the surface while using a monitor arm for the other external monitor, but this will go over the weight limit of 35 lb by quite a bit considering the iMac itself is 30 lb.
I use a cube like setup so the amount of desk surface depth would fit the products in this video but not z lifts by varidesk that are bigger and support 45lb without the feet sticking out.
Is the 35lb limit on these a hard limit or do you think my planned setup could work. The Ziplift sounds very appealing to me.

Hi! Thanks for the post! You can get away with a little more than 35 lbs. on the ZipLift, but once you start talking 3 monitors and a monitor arm, we think it's best to upgrade to a full standing desk. There's just no converter on the market that can handle that kind of weight. When you add all your items together (30 lb iMac + 2 monitors + monitor arm), you're probably over 60 lbs or so.
That being said, if a new desk is not an option, a work-around might be to put one monitor on the ZipLift for when you stand, and leave the others down below for when you're sitting (not sure how much width you have on your desk for doing this, but could be easy way to get standing time in during the day).

Thanks for the reply. I actually did end up getting the ziplift. It works well enough with the iMac and one monitor on an arm well enough if the heavy iMac is in the middle of the riser. A third monitor on there would definitely be too much though. Would be more comfortable if the iMac was a newer lighter model, but it works great right now. The arm base can actually take another arm, so if I switch to a laptop or something then I can have 2 monitors, one on each arm plus the laptop on the riser. Pictures: imgur.com/a/Qjj2B

Most of these I've looked at are way over-priced. I can buy a whole IKEA stand/sit desk for a little extra

If you buy it for home use or are allowed to use your own furniture at work: sure. But if you have to work with what your employer provides, a full standing desk may not be an option.

A standing desk is just way better.
I can only see people who already have a hand made regular desk buy these, as it makes no sense for them to change desks, when all they need is something to raise the height of the monitor, keyboard and mouse.

400 dollars for this junk?? for that price you can actually get a proper desk!

If you get a "proper" standing desk, you trade that for no drawers. The converter allows you to keep your own desk and all your drawers
