Explains a whole lot about why I am not seeing on my projects that burnish that I am seeing on UA-cam! Understanding that alone increases my confidence, and I hope that these kinds of videos can keep being pushed out for other aspects of leatherworking!
I bought some of the live oak from traditions because I am new to leatherwork and didn’t want to throw away Herman oak when I messed up. I love the live oak or Texas oak. It is so good to work with. Been trying to stock up on it so I got a couple double shoulders of each weight. Glad to know there is another place that is selling it now.
It's always a fun discussion about how our American leather has brands scraps and scars not seen in import leather .. We just RE registered our brand . As a leather worker I always think man some one will buy this hide and make a project with our brand on it someday . Stay Safe and have a Happy New Year . See y'all in Prescott.
Enjoyed your video.. something I was hoping to see.. liked your no non- sense approach to your leathers!! Great info!! Will be subscribing... and going to look at ya'll site, for my leather needs.. THANKS
Sup Aaron thanks for the deep dive into leather and telling us what types of leather there is Aaron and amazing tooling on The leather coasters keep up the good Aaron and Janie Sue and Marsha and doc have a great day today Aaron!🇺🇸
Great video Aaron. Herman Oak panels is what I first used to make things, which was a blessing and a curse lol. Wickett and Craig and Herman Oak burnish so nice. I have tried some Italian leathers that were nice looking but still didn't burnish as nice as those two brands.
How do you get the burnishing look on the decorative cuts??? Thanks for this video. I've always felt the type of leather made a big difference on the burnishing but others insisted I was doing something wrong.
Thank you for the comparison. I am new to leather craft and found it very informative. You touched on something briefly that I've noticed with my leather. It appears to be drying out and becoming more difficult to get a clean cut on the flesh side. I have resorted to dampening the flesh side slightly before cutting to improve the cut. Is this ok? I'd hate to toss the leather out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I enjoy your videos and find them very helpful.
So I drove a truck for 20 years I used to actually haul the green hides to the border and trade for empty trailers talk about stink…. Ohhhhh by the way a good cattle prod
Question?--- would a lighter weight , Sepci leather [ if you had some left over ] , would it be good for liners in holsters and sheaths, that your going to tool and mold??? Thanks for great vid, again!! Lol
Thank you i dig the informative detailed comparison Very helpful Ill order some stuff from you guys soon. i live a few blocks from SLC spfld leather i do love the crew there and its nice hand picking ,but i like your prices Does your site give shipping cost for a 9-11oz side

Deeper cuts will have a more prominent appearance.

There's no issue with that if it helps you cut :)

W&C is in curwensville, PA❤️
You may not have understood me, I have an accent... ha ha ha... dangit.
Awesome video Aaron, thank you. The only thing you missed was the relative stiffness of the Texas oak. Good for holsters?
It is about as stiff as Hermann Oak. It would work well for holsters.
Thank you!
What’s that stamp and size or sizes used if it’s 2? Thanks man it’s well done 👍
@@RoyHamblen-ps6hk I pretty much use the middle sizes of most tools on a 2" flower, flower centers, thumb prints, bevelers, etc.
Sorry, I should have been specific, on the tri fold wallet in russet you held up . Thanks flowers are nice too. Thanks again
@@RoyHamblen-ps6hk I honestly do not know which size those stamps are.
