  • I've had lots of comments on my videos asking about the tools on my walls. Here I explain what many of them are and what they do.

One of the best parts about leatherwork for me is the tools. Especially old tools. I'm constantly buying rusty "vintage" leather tools just to see if I can clean them up and put them back to work. I build saddles mostly so I've got a bunch of over stitch wheels in various sizes. Use them just about every day. I've watched most of your videos and built off several of your patterns. Although thin leather is still a little strange for me...

Where did you get your Army Veteran swivel knife? It looks really nice. I am a retired Navy Chief and would like to get a similar one.

It was made by Sergey Neskromniy. He has an Etsy website www.leatherstampstools.com

Hey great video ,interesting to see the tools that ill never see or use as in just getting into the craft lol but i got a small kit from my daughter at Christmas and aside from the wax thread and edge grover , and a tool similer to your over stitch wheel and not doubt as good quality as yours but it also came with one that had actual pins on it and its so cheep that the wheel part flops its like it need a spacer on ether side to keep it from flopping .anyway would its prepuce be for stitching spots as well ya suppose?

As I progress through a project, that’s how they all end up. Ha ha h

I actually just found a nice little solution to that problem. They make these fairly small stacked 3 by 4 cubby desk organizers that were designed for artists to keep pens and markers in They sit on the back of your bench and are just about the right size to stick one or two tools in each spot. I've stated keeping the tools I'm actively using in one so they're still right at hand, but not all over my bench and getting under everything. Seems to work a lot better for these types of tools then the stamp and tooling holders.
