    Thank you to everyone for their photos and videos of Shippersea Bay.
    Please use extreme caution when visiting any beach, especially those with treacherous access routes like Shippersea Bay. Pay attention to tides, weather, and know the local phone number for emergencies. Stay safe!

    I'm going for a look there tomorrow afternoon. Usually go to Blast beach, just around the corner, this look less accessible, and usually that means better finds :)

    I paid a visit here on Sunday, that trail is steep, slippy with sand and gravel, I decided to slide down on my bum as I didn’t want to fall, be very careful and wear good footwear, if you are unsteady
    I wouldn’t recommend it. You will find the trail down around 6 feet to the right of the signpost between the bench and the wooden post, do not attempt to get down where those green rails are. I collected loads of glass including a lot of boaty blues, which can also be found further down the coastline into North Yorkshire. I found one piece of glass with aqua swirls and yellow spots. This beach has some of the most stunning beach pebbles I have seen, agates, jaspers and red coloured flint which I shall be tumbling, if you love beach pebbles the next best beach I can recommend is spurn point, a huge variety including plenty of fossils

    Wow 😮 me want to go , this is absolutely beautiful spot, maybe you should do a hiking meet up there! What are the tides like my lovely ? Are they worse this time of year, do you know the tides at all.
    I have been looking at doing this sort of thing for ages now and following a few mudlarkers. Would be good to go with people who actually have been or know the area.
    Many thanks 🙏 for your wonderful work and research, well inspiring and beautiful, the planet we live on , Amazing 😉
    If you could give any advise I would Very much appreciate it truly 🙏😊

    I am planning a trip late summer early Fall. When are the best times to go? I took my sons years ago in the summer but did not find this beach. We found a "Ravenscar" brick....the Town that never was!

    • @Beachcombing
      @Beachcombing  4 роки тому

      Ooh that sounds interesting: The town that never was! Very cool. I think winter/spring is good after things are churned up. But you never know when you'll get lucky!! Shippersea beach is really hard to get to so you need a local to show you the way. And, it's slippery when wet so not accessible all the time. Have fun on your trip!

    Hi New subscriber here, really enjoying your videos, quick question at the 2:07 part of video there's a square looking thing, just curious as to what it is, I've found one of them at the beach In my hometown before and still have it, I kept it because it lntrigued me but what is it? Is it part of a game or something with you talking about abandoned toys etc, if anyone can tell me what I have I'd appreciate it, thanks 😊

    • @Beachcombing
      @Beachcombing  3 роки тому +1

      Lucky you! The one shown there is a chuckstone. The game was also called knucklebones and was similar to the American game of jacks. You can see some more from Shippersea collectors at around 2:00 at ua-cam.com/video/u8XOa7iwIzw/v-deo.html. Thanks!

    Are there any articles in Beachcombing Magazine about Seaham and if there is who contributed them? Would it be Paula Newman ?. Looking at your seaglass festival speakers ; this is the only name I see for this area. ?

    could the mystery glass be of a natural origin, such as a meteor impact or lightning strikes in sand that washed into the sea?

    • @Beachcombing
      @Beachcombing  4 роки тому

      The glass is most likely waste glass, as much of it has the telltale "barnacles" that happen when glass is cooled too quickly. There actually isn't much sand in this area!

  • @MadisonHarvill
