  • The Air Force MQ-9 REAPER drone will live to fight another day, or thousands of days, due to a clear service plan to employ the platform for at least the next fifteen years. The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper (sometimes called PREDATOR B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of remotely controlled or autonomous flight operations developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems primarily for the United States Air Force.

    • @kiabtoomlauj6249

      I think it is completely the opposite: it's way too slow and vulnerable to fly against super sonic & agile fighter jets & major radar sites (which has much faster & more powerful defensive missiles than the smaller one carried by fighter jets) ...
      But two of these things, with high resolution cameras --- ultra cheap killer & surveillance machines, compared to the $100M to $130M F-2=35 B and C they're protecting ---- could float nicely above US Navy battle groups and US ships 24/7, in a 50-100 mile radius concentric circles & it'd be next to impossible for enemies to stealthily fly past them on their way to bombing aircraft carriers and the billion dollar jets parked on them. They basically serve as "trigger wires."
      If they fly 50 - 100 miles in radius of concentric circles, & 50,000 feet up, they'd see hundreds of miles into the horizon, 360. Protecting a battle group of around $25B worth of weapons systems with two dirt cheap unmanned killer drones that could do 23 hours of flight with full weapons load... nothing beats it!

    They should put 360 degree cameras on one drone so it can provide real time GPS coordinates for 10 targets at once. Then use guided MRLS and longer range HIMARS to take out the targets 10 at a time. Multiply that by 100 surveillance drones across the battle space and you take out 1,000 light and heavy military targets in a matter of minutes.

    The first bomb to be dropped from a plane was in 1911. This warfare was extensively used in the many wars that arose during the 20th Century. The US first used a weaponized drone was in Afghanistan in 2001 shortly after 9/11. This advancement in technology allows for bombing by remote piloting, which has a psychological effect on the remote pilot and the people on the ground.
    Drones can be used in a Balanced way. "To say that drones are media apparatuses points not only to their capacity to represent and communicate data, but also to the constitutive role within drone systems that of mediation, defined as a vital process of informational and energetic transformation between materials, systems and subjects" (Richardson 2023). There are many ways that drones are utilized, offering a wide variety of information: pictures, videos, surveillance, entertainment, etc. But drone warfare narrows that use to one thing: to destroy and kill. "Militarised drones are martial media, with their structures and logics direct towards lethal surveillance" (Richardson 2023).
    The use of drones seriously lacks Attitude Awareness, however. The military looks at the advantage of drones as putting zero American lives at risk when drone bombing a target; however, the mental impact on the remote pilots of the drones is ignored. It can be compared to a video game. When playing a video game, you kill other players. For the operators of these drones, those people you kill are killed in real life.
    The use of drones is also Motivated and Relevant to Experience because the remote pilots who operate said drones do this often and have been trained for the purpose of remotely bombing targets, and could not be done without this experience.
    Very often, drone strikes are widely inaccurate. "In doing so, drone war’s algorithmic systems enfold the production of trauma through the decision to kill into a zone of indistinction and inscrutability, in which chance, error, probability and potential collide in ways that cannot be legible and knowable to humans" (Richardson 2023). There are many civilian casualties, which does not uphold The Dignity of the Human Person, as these risks are known and pushed aside.
    Drones, and all air raids for that matter, are not completely Truth-Filled. Throughout history, warfare has always been a level playing field. Its like football. The Chiefs might be better in every way than the Eagles, and Eagles fans can go cry about it, but it's a fair game. But if the Chiefs played a hard and heroic game on the ground while the Eagles flew around on unicorns, no one in their right mind (that by default excludes Eagles fans as they have no brain) would call that fair. In the same way, it's not completely truth-filled to drop bombs on the enemy.
    Using militarized drones is arguably Inspiring. Drones have been used for various reasons. Many terrorists and leaders of ISIS, including key figures in 9/11, have been killed from drone strikes, and many Americans have been inspired to join the military and stand up for their country.
    There is no doubt that weaponized drones are Skillfully Developed. The technology that is needed to make and operate these drones is an incredible advancement in the industry. "Increasingly autonomously weapons systems also mean more media-saturated warfare, with sensors, algorithms, networks and interfaces shaping more of the material media (atmospheres, terrains, buildings, oceans) through which bullets, missiles and other munitions travel" (Richardson 2023).

So if I can hear you before I see you, your drone ain't schit pretty quite where I'm at not commercial a.c. around couldn't see lights but heard that thing from a mile away. Sorry for the long comment just wanted to tell my experience with seeing this thing fly over. I wonder if it heard my yell to my bro and cut its lights out after that?

    I'm sure this has been discussed, but watching this video makes me wonder if there might not be a transition to pilotless military aircraft. The weight saved by eliminating what is required for an aviator/pilot could, instead, be used for additional defensive or offensive equipment.

    • @edsherwook5196

    • @ObvStar48
      @ObvStar48 11 місяців тому +1

      actually they're already testing it, major problem with it is latency issues. If I remember correctly once a drone is deployed it can have a 5 second delay between what the drone is seeing and what you're seeing. 5 seconds would mean the death of the plane if it was in a dog fight or dodging an S-400 missile.

    They might actually be better off. by supplying Ukraine long range armed drones in significant quantity in the near term, rather than fighter Jets. i.e. like the Reaper drone etc... These could be deployed far sooner. i.e. within 3 to 6 months. The Reaper drone has a payload capacity of 362.8kg. Thus it could carry 100 GPS guided switchblade 300s at 2.7 kg each, plus the weight of a rotary drone deployment cartridge system. Basically meaning that it could be deployed against 100 light armoured vehicles with a 90% hit rate. Thus it could destroy or disable 90 vehicles in one sortie, with near zero risk to the remotely situated pilot. They could also have it able to deploy the Phoenix Ghost drone and Switchblade 600s for destroying heavier targets. This could extend the range of these weapons, as the reaper has an 1,800 km total range, thus about 700km each way allowing for a 20% fuel reserve. This effectively means your switchblade 300 gets an extended target range of 700km, plus it's original 40 km range, thus totalling 740km, there about. That effectively means they could cover almost the entire country of Ukraine from Kyiv using this Mother drone ship tactic. They could take off from roads and of course runways, thus making them less easy to detect etc... With some software tweaking, they could incorporate Tesla style drive auto pilot for taking off from roads etc...

    • @JoeyBlogs007
      @JoeyBlogs007 Рік тому +2

      If Russia has about 5,000 APCs and 5,000 infantry fighting vehicles, thus around 10,000 light armoured vehicles, then it would require about 100 MQ9 Reaper sorties ( carrying the 100 x Switchblade 300s per sorties ) to destroy the entire Russian fleet of vehicles of this type. Russia would then be playing catch up and only have tanks remaining, against which the switchblade 600 could be deployed, along with NLAW, Javelin, Stugna-P etc... for mop up operations.

    • @tmw007

    • @JoeyBlogs007
      @JoeyBlogs007 11 місяців тому

       @tmathew7297 No it wouldn't because they would be too small and too numerous to cost justify firing missiles and using jets to bring them down. You are talking about missiles worth tens of thousands, vs a small drones that might cost less than $5K. It would send Russia broke using that strategy. They are already in deep financial trouble with the Russian Ruble crashing 30% in the last year.

    At the war you can create high capacity signal jammers for air drones remote signal crash, ex. Lot of commercial drones are use satellite signals , so in some areas you can jam the signals or create new remote signals to jam original controller for drone's, don't ask how. find out yourself to save your people's. In near future drones can be hedech to the world.
