Budgie was so tight, and muscular on this album. They're last really good album.

John Thomas is a great guitarist of Budgie. He makes a good riffs and solo🤘🏻🔥. I love this song so much, I'm 19 years old, but this song is never getting old but gold🤘🏻🔥

Well I've grown up in a ring of tangles
Gonna make my move gonna use all the angles
Somebody said you were a spitfire cat
Burning love gonna put an end to that
    Wanna clean break, clean fight
Shake my hand but you don't try anything rash
Catch you with my long throw
    Take you by surprise
Gonna get you with a forearm smash
    Baby, forearm smash
    Baby, forearm smash
Seconds away gonna break your back
If you don't wanna play then don't give me flak
People spend money just to see you fall
When you're out for the count
They won't care no more, no more
I wanna clean fight baby so you'd better move over
I'm a heavy weight killer with a featherlight mover
It's a long time holding my arms around you
I'm gonna fight dirty `cause I'm gonna get you
Oh, he hit me, he cut me
Pulling my hair, aiming below the belt
It's a prize fight and I was right
It's a grudge fight over woman that gives me hell
    Baby, forearm smash
    Baby, forearm smash

I think that "Power Supply" by Budgie is a really good hard rocking album... it was 1980... the band had been doing it for over a decade... making the music more straight forward R&R was a smart move... keeping true to their selves... but also creating an album that had more mainstream appeal... at the end of the day, it is called after all, "The Music Business!"... P.S. Burke Shelley is a Christian... he never compromised his faith in the music... and that is tuff to do in R&R...

no need to make excuses... Tony Bourge was a monster creative force in the band, and without him it turned into Ac Dc cover 🤣okay it's a bit harsh way to say it, just poking fun... but yeah I find strange nobody ever mentions Tony Bourge

Okay, let me just preface this by saying that I’ve recently grown to really like Budgie’s ‘70s albums, but I’m not a fanatic or expert on them, like a lot of you seem to be, so I have a sincere question for that group of people. Also, I am not making fun of them in any way. I was just recently introduced to this album and on the one hand, I love it, but on the other hand, it sounds absolutely nothing like classic Budgie from the ‘70s. To me, the music sounds more like Motley Crue at their aggressive best, than Budgie and the vocals sound more like David Coverdale at his aggressive best, than Burke Shelley, who as we all know, had very distinctive vocals. I usually have a pretty good ear for stuff like that and to me, the lead vocalist on “Power Supply” sounds nothing like the lead vocalist on “Impeckable”, just 2 years earlier. At first I thought maybe it was the new guitarist, John Thomas, but I have found nothing crediting him or anyone else with vocals, besides Burke Shelley. Could someone out there who knows “All things Budgie”, please enlighten me?

Tony Bourge (electric guitar until 1978) was such a creative force in the band, the music had lots of changes, it felt like 3-4 songs in 1... without him it turned into... what is this an Ac Dc cover band?? 🤣🤣🤣 Same happened with UFO when their main guitar also quit in same year, similar story

did they ever reunite with classic formation?

so why did Tony Bourge quit anyway? it's a pity things like these happen

Their name and "Parakeet" theme was their biggest downfall.... With a better name, I honestly think they'd have broken through the ceiling that their parakeet thing made for them... I heard MANY people question that... Like WTF....... I mean, really, they could have been Led Zeppelin, but if they were called "Budgie", people would've been like WTF? Who does that? Put it this way... After hearing them and seeing how tight and on the mark they were, people wanted to know who they were and it's like WHAT?

Couldn’t agree more. Hard to put people on good obscure music as is - even harder when the whole bird thing makes them hard to take seriously. These guys were pretty clean and tight for decades but the parakeet theme couldn’t survive the 70s let alone the following decades as music got more streamlined.

I think there is some validity to your observation, in that in 1971, a picture of a parakeet riding on a horse on an album cover, didn’t exactly evoke visions of a typical 70s Heavy Metal band and to make things even more confusing, if you turned the album over to see if the song titles were more enlightening, you saw song titles like “Nude Disintegrating Parachutist Woman”. No wonder everyone said WTF. To make matters worse, the term “Budgie” itself, which has Australian origins, I believe, was not even part of the average American’s vocabulary in 1971 and really isn’t even now. Personally, I probably would have never known the word myself, if not for “Monty Python”…lol.
