I love everything barbs, loved his tanks. I own, tigers, green, albino, gold, cherry, odessa and black ruby.
Really liked the Kavali barbs, so cool looking. Great vid thanks :)
Sometimes both talking at the same time so some of the information can be missed. That said, fun to watch and quite informative, both very knowledgeable. You even identified the dwarf striped loaches for me, they are in a local shop here in Thailand currently but labels are in Thai so... Now I'm going to go pick some up.
Another note. We have some dawkinsonis and the filter box is regularly full of babies without any effort at all on my part. They started breeding at less than half full size. Fish are fun ))
Could you recommend common barbs from Sri Lanka? I have a US 50gal 36X18X18 tank with a 4400ltr per hour submersible. What my dream is, is to have a slice oi a Sri Lankan creek. Thank you for any help you can give...
Dan when you are interviewing someone and ask him a question for God's sake let him answer instead of continuing on and telling him how much you know about the fish. Can't make any sense out of what you are both talking about when you are both talking over one another.
I hear ya, Phil. I did not realize I was doing that to Mike until I went to edit the footage. It's a good note and it has been taken.
No offence was intended Dan, and I am glad you took my comments the way I meant them. I always enjoy your videos immensely. Keep up the good work buddy
those swords were insane
After near 50 years,I've settled on fish from Asia and Australia...they seem so much better adapted to Aquarium life then South Americans...less nippy, easier to feed, less extreme water needs. Barbs,Danios ,Rainbowfish,Loaches..a world of color and interest in a 240 gallon.
I added six Snakeskin barbs and right off the bat they were shoaling with Giant Danio's like old buds. Eating hearty first feeding from me today.
Tiger barbs? Should be banned!..just pure killers. I used to breed them and if not? A tank of 50 would become a tank of one 3" fat female as they killed each other off.
Otherwise...what big tank (with no plants)isnt better for high quality Tinfoils? Red fins, black edged and steel gray bodys...the best.
I love this video so much good info, could you help me to find this parapetrazona that he mentions as the true toger barb? I tried searching the web but I couldnt find anything. I only found petrazona.
The name that uniquely identifies a species is always and only the Latin name, also called scientific name! If that doesn't come, we don't have anything in our hands!!!!!!

Common Tiger barbs , 'I think that fish is just a butt-hole and shouldn't be in the trade'
Classic and Genius
Dang Michigan has this whole underground of aquarium fanatics I'm just learning about.
So, please, give us all the right latin names!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Dan did he say the Normani were suitable for a 15 Gallon?
... You have no idea, how long I've been looking for this video after the first time I saw this video 😆... Glad I found it again 😆... I wanted to go over that "perpetual" egg scattering/ barb breeding tank.
"If you build it, they will breed" I think Kevin Costner said that...right :)
Wow, what a great tour that was
I learned a lot from Mike and enjoyed myself immensely. Glad you liked it too!
@@DansFish cool fish room
I used reef roids to feed some of my baby kribs and limia what brand do you like
my snakeskin barbs are breeding or about to breed...
Really a nice video Dan! Such a cool fishroom. Thanks for doing this. Thanks to Mike for allowing you to video his fishroom.
I agree...it was very generous of Mike to let this video happen...thanks Mike!!!
puntias hexazona is commonly called the six banded barb...also barbs are only aggressive when they aren't kept in a group
Just for the record, most barbs are NOT aggressive nor fin-nippers. Your comment is no doubt referring to the common Tiger Barb that does best if kept in larger groups to control their aggression. I keep and breed P. hexazona and they are the most timid, peaceful, and are very non-aggressive.
Sure Keeping groups can help curb aggression in most any species of fish...well, as long as said species tolerates conspecifics as most barbs do. As Fishez notes, it is hard to generalize about barbs because their are so many diverse species. For example, my drape fin barbs have always been mellow and never bother anyone. Howver, I did recently have a customer who had trouble with conspecific aggression in some clown barbs she purchased from me. Adding more clown barbs to the tank solved the problem. So, yes, if someone is keeping a species of barb that is being aggressive, adding more barbs to that group is generally a good method of solving aggression issues.
Barbs are sick. My Tiger Barb tank is my favorite to feed
No odessa barbs? Or did i miss them?
Thanks Dan that guy has a great fishroom !!!!
Glad you liked it, Chattanooga Ed!
The breeding tank design is genius. Going to try and replicate a similar set up. Enjoyed the tour. Always great getting a glimpse into a specialized fish room, especially that of someone with years of experience.
I like the design too. I don't think it will be too hard to replicate. A vid on how do build it would be awesome...hint, hint 😀
What's the barb? Cavali or Cabali... I couldn't find anything on Google. 🙏
Dan, I live your videos. They're so informative and you show different behaviors. Thing is, you're talking about fry and we can't see them. I've filmed my husbands Kuhli Loaches for him on my cell using a magnifying glass. Worked great and was super cheap. Will you try? If you can keep the glare off you can film through it quite easily.
You've got such a wonderful subject each and every time. Come on. Learn some filming tricks please. I know you are a person looking for particular things and when you can show us you'll be so 😊
This is awesome. I read of walking into an amazing home like this. I was a personal gardener though. Must say, not many tanks in the senior crew sadly
I totally agree...filmography is an Achilles' Heal for me. Working on it...slowly, but working on it.
@@DansFish well... You do have a hard subject to capture! Small Won't stay still. Behind glass. Iruidescent or even sometimes holographic. Oooh!
GO PRO IN THE TANK! Woah! Imagine your shots! Wow. How come none of these youtube whipper snappers have tried this yet?
I'll bet you could calmly approach a fish in an aquarium with a go pro. Especially if ya gave it 5 minutes. Oh my goodness! Imagine the shots you might get! Might be like swimming right along with them!
Why dont even the pond guys show off their ponds with gopros? Hmmmmmm
Don't you know you have to boil those pond rocks?
Just kidding, his friend was the true genius though.
Love your videos, you have many fish I haven't heard of, it is kind of hard for me to understand when both of you are talking at the same time. Thanks will watch the next one, later!
Yeah, we did talk over each other a lot. I hear that for sure.
That breeding tank is amazing
Dan stop talking over him when he is trying to speak, lol
I know, right! I did not realize how much that was happening until I went to edit the vid. Lessons for next time.
25:50 I got those barbs! Super beautiful, full of colours and always in front of the glass
I'm officially jelly...those are such cool fish!!!!
Great fishroom tour. Love his set up. Thank you for sharing! - Little Bobby
It is awesome to see in person...such neat species every where you turn.
My checker barbs are in a community setting and are peaceful
That breeder tank is kinda cool. The current pulling them through to the other side doesn't harm the fry at all?
I know they were not the main reason for the video but those platties with what almost looks like a shark fin on them are really cool ive never seen any with fins like that!, but i do know I WANT SOME!!! LOL FR
They were pretty cool to see!
if a fish is wild caught, are some ever bred and then rereleased at the source location?
Lots of healthy fish. Awesome stuff and Excellent video
Where in the world was all the Sahyadria denisonii or Dawkinsia !!?? you know all the cool Barbs...lol
They are at PetCo...just sayin'!
desmopuntius hexazona's common name in the uk is "Six banded barb" hope that helps with your lists.
Yea. Six banded barb. Black water species from Malaysia. I have a few wild specimen & still trying to breed them
Dan those little barbs you loved that looked like tiny tigers are called five striped barbs or five banded barbs. Desmopuntius pentazona. I have a school of 11 and thought they were juvenile snakeskin barbs, but they stayed a little less than an inch and the bands stayed tight.
Awesome...thanks for the info.
노란색고기 이름 머예요?
Is there a way to email him? I like those Tonoka maple leaf guppes
You can reach him through the contact field at the bottom of his Get Gills store. Here's a link: getgills.com/store.detail/ExstreamAquatix
only mother of nuptune. This is awesome. That longfin Barb breeding set-up is EPIC
I like that breeding setup too. How are all the fish doing for you?
Dans Fish they are doing well. Survived the tornadoes and 6 days with no power. Hope to get the Pom poms next!
Hey Dan
Could you provide a link for the coral food that Michael is using to feed fry?
I would if I could. I'm a freshwater guy, so I don't know anything about coral food.
That barb breeder tank reminds me of a sump. Cool stuff!
Yep, I totally see that...egg collecting sump.
"$50 word for a 5cent guy!" fuckin love it hahahahaha
I's is what I's is :)
gold barbs name?
Watching this one again! Thanks Dan! - Little Bobby
Mike's room was fun to visit...thanks for watching!
Totally stealing that breeding tank concept if that's ok lol!!!
It's not mine, but I doubt there is a patent. I think it is the best barb breeding idea I've ever seen for hobbyist diy. Might take some doing to build, but once built it will take a lot of the work out of breeding these beauties.
Q. What is that material?
A. It’s plastic.
So it is!
Any chance of you posting the design of the spawning tank?
Peter, I don't have a drawing to post. I think it could be copied just based on the side profile seen in the vid by anyone who has built a sump before.
I could stare at the group of Hatchet fish for hours!
What a fabulous tour! He has a ton of goodies!
Thanks, Catfish. I DO watch those hatchets for hours!
Great vid! Very glad to hear you describe the shoaling behavior; and dispute the highly overstated "nippy/aggressive" nature of the tiger barb. The reactions I've received over the years when stating I've kept large shoals of barbs with... (mollies, various tetras, etc)-- peacefully-- still seem to shock most ppl...
Great Video Dan! Love your stuff!
Scown, Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome video!!
Thanks, Ash!
Hey u inspire me to make videos
Do it! Please let me know when you have made your first one so I can watch it.
I love specialized fish rooms!
Glad you liked it, Snics.
Great tour Dan!
I liked it too, Fish Tube...thanks!
👌
🕶🎸
your hatchetfish!
I know, right !
Genius ideas
Mike is a mad scientist...in a good way!
👍
🕶🎸
Love the fish room tours!👍👍
Glad you liked it, Grassy. Great to hear from you.
Fantastic video dan, thank you
Thanks, Ed!
Does any one know what the clear/white things on the glass of the white clouds tank at 6:15 is? I have some in my 10 gal
If it's a glob of clear jelly with little spheres in it, its snail eggs. That's the only thing I saw on the tank.
