    I love everything barbs, loved his tanks. I own, tigers, green, albino, gold, cherry, odessa and black ruby.
    Really liked the Kavali barbs, so cool looking. Great vid thanks :)

    Sometimes both talking at the same time so some of the information can be missed. That said, fun to watch and quite informative, both very knowledgeable. You even identified the dwarf striped loaches for me, they are in a local shop here in Thailand currently but labels are in Thai so... Now I'm going to go pick some up.
    Another note. We have some dawkinsonis and the filter box is regularly full of babies without any effort at all on my part. They started breeding at less than half full size. Fish are fun ))

    Could you recommend common barbs from Sri Lanka? I have a US 50gal 36X18X18 tank with a 4400ltr per hour submersible. What my dream is, is to have a slice oi a Sri Lankan creek. Thank you for any help you can give...

    Dan when you are interviewing someone and ask him a question for God's sake let him answer instead of continuing on and telling him how much you know about the fish. Can't make any sense out of what you are both talking about when you are both talking over one another.

    After near 50 years,I've settled on fish from Asia and Australia...they seem so much better adapted to Aquarium life then South Americans...less nippy,easier to feed,less extreme water needs. Barbs,Danios ,Rainbowfish,Loaches..a world of color and interest in a 240 gallon.
    I added six Snakeskin barbs and right off the bat they were shoaling with Giant Danio's like old buds. Eating hearty first feeding from me today.
    Tiger barbs? Should be banned!..just pure killers. I used to breed them and if not? A tank of 50 would become a tank of one 3" fat female as they killed each other off.
    Otherwise...what big tank (with no plants)isnt better for high quality Tinfoils? Red fins,black edged and steel gray bodys...the best.

    puntias hexazona is commonly called the six banded barb...also barbs are only aggressive when they aren't kept in a group

    • @FishEZ
      @FishEZ 5 років тому

      Just for the record, most barbs are NOT aggressive nor fin-nippers. Your comment is no doubt referring to the common Tiger Barb that does best if kept in larger groups to control their aggression. I keep and breed P. hexazona and they are the most timid, peaceful, and are very non-aggressive.

    • @DansFish
      @DansFish  5 років тому

      Sure Keeping groups can help curb aggression in most any species of fish...well, as long as said species tolerates conspecifics as most barbs do. As Fishez notes, it is hard to generalize about barbs because their are so many diverse species. For example, my drape fin barbs have always been mellow and never bother anyone. Howver, I did recently have a customer who had trouble with conspecific aggression in some clown barbs she purchased from me. Adding more clown barbs to the tank solved the problem. So, yes, if someone is keeping a species of barb that is being aggressive, adding more barbs to that group is generally a good method of solving aggression issues.

    Dan, I live your videos. They're so informative and you show different behaviors. Thing is, you're talking about fry and we can't see them. I've filmed my husbands Kuhli Loaches for him on my cell using a magnifying glass. Worked great and was super cheap. Will you try? If you can keep the glare off you can film through it quite easily.
    You've got such a wonderful subject each and every time. Come on. Learn some filming tricks please. I know you are a person looking for particular things and when you can show us you'll be so 😊
    This is awesome. I read of walking into an amazing home like this. I was a personal gardener though. Must say, not many tanks in the senior crew sadly

      @@DansFish well... You do have a hard subject to capture! Small Won't stay still. Behind glass. Iruidescent or even sometimes holographic. Oooh!
      GO PRO IN THE TANK! Woah! Imagine your shots! Wow. How come none of these youtube whipper snappers have tried this yet?
      I'll bet you could calmly approach a fish in an aquarium with a go pro. Especially if ya gave it 5 minutes. Oh my goodness! Imagine the shots you might get! Might be like swimming right along with them!

The reactions I've received over the years when stating I've kept large shoals of barbs with... (mollies, various tetras, etc)-- peacefully-- still seem to shock most ppl...
