Thanks for this review. It's great to hear that either of these are going to add tona cocktails and at least i know to look for them and know that they are good!!
I've just recently purchased a jar of Luxardo cherries and would have to say that though the taste and texture are a bit interesting, I was still slightly disappointed. They tasted much more candied than I had expected. The best thing about them is the texture and the crack of the skin. I've never tried the Amarena, but what I have used frequently and still seem to prefer are the Tillen Farms Bada Bing cherries. I'm sure that I'll be scoffed at by many, but to me, they are the best thing to have at the bottom of a Perfect Manhattan.
New subscriber. Costco sells a GIGANTic jar of those Amarena cherries which are also great on vanilla ice cream on those non drinking nights. Luxardo cherries and a little syrup in a good Rye whiskey are also delicious. Enjoyed the video you have good personality for this. Thanks for sharing
Welcome to the channel and thank you for your kind words. I have another video where I try out the Toschi amarena but they were not on par with Fabbri and Luxardo.
Sounds crazy, but the “great value” brand from Walmart, cocktail cherries are amazing! Much better than most of the “premium” cocktail cherries I have tried!
We have all 3 in our gelateria. The alcoholic (in liquor) is my favorite but my Vietnamese wife hates it. Luxardo cherries taste like a candy. Fabbri Amarena cherries are okay - we have another brand from France that taste better IMO😊
Thanks for the comment. I tried some griottines (the French cherries under kirsch) here in Japan and they are excellent, but only bars can get them. I will try to get some though as soon as possible and add those to this comparison.
I do refrigerate them, just so I'm sure they won't spoil over the long time it takes me to finish one jar. Still, most bars in Italy used to have these big amarena Fabbri jars on display on shelves. So I'm not so sure refrigeration is an absolute necessity. On the other side, once you drop a refrigerated cherry in a Manhattan, it takes really no time for the cherry to reach the temperature of its surroundings, so I don't see a problem with refrigeration either.
If you read the luxardo label it specifically says NOT to refrigerate. It will cause some of the sugars in the syrup to crystallize. Totally true, as I learned to my distress the hard way a few years ago.
The English label says "do not refrigerate". The Italian label says "Please refrigerate". Back label here www.amazon.it/LUXARDO-ORIGINAL-MARASCHINO-CHERRIES-400/dp/B07PVBKRLC I don't know why the discrepancy, but in my opinion you can just refrigerate for longer shelf life. I refrigerate them and they are fine. Probably the best would be keeping them in a cool cellar.
The image of a manhattan with 3 different cocktail cherries is the chaos i want. Great breakdown!

You're welcome!
Luxardo and Amarena are both very good but I recently found US Peninsula Cherries and they are also very very good.
Sounds really interesting, hopefully somebody will start importing those US Peninsula Cherries to Japan, I'm really curious to try them 😋
Yes, they are tart, sweet and delicious.

They are maraschino flavored. Not real

Prefiero la amarena, su sabor, textura y jarabe me parecen equilibrados para mezclar....el bramble me queda genial con esta marca...
Fabbri have been my go-to for a few years now. I like a barspoon of the juice in there too. I'll have to try the Luxardos.
The juice of the Fabbri cherries should be considered a schedule I substance 😋
It is! Seems like a waste to not use it. I have tried the Herring as well, but I just prefer to get some of that juice!@@giuliosbar

i enjoy both luxardo and amarena cherries. fun lil experient. cheers
Those are the two best cherries I tried so far. But there are still more to try. My quest is not over 😂
Yum! Any and all!
Nice video. Came here by way of Cocktail Time with Kevin Kos. Subscribed.
Thank you so much 🙏
Amarena Cherries. All day everyday and tomorrow.
Surprised you don’t have more views. Very good video! Subscribed!
Thanks for the comment and the sub!
I find Luxardo sort of waxy. My favorites: Bada Bing.

Do you refrigerate your Luxardo...? I'm finding there better when at room temp...

You don't have Amarena Toschi - the only ones I use.
I have a few more amarena I want to test, I will compare them in a follow up video in a few months 👍 I will try to get my hands on some Toschi
I've had those. Flavor was ok, pretty close to Luxardo but they were much smaller. 🤷🏻♂️
Nella lista ingredienti non c’è “aroma naturale” credo sia quello che da il sapore della Fabbri.
Wal Mart has their store brand called “premium cocktail cherries” They are more than good enough for me
