    For me the best way to explain gears to others, is using a 10 speed bicycle for example. The gears going up or down either increases or decreases resistance on the biker pedaling. Truck= biker pedaling, gear= +/- resistance. Effects gas mileage, torque. 4:56 gears will probably get you right back at factory performance if not better.

  • @NotUrDaddiesXLT
    @NotUrDaddiesXLT Рік тому +1

    Yea as is now you are running a 3.05 gear. If you went to a 4.10 you would be back at the factory final gear of 3.55.
    Give the truck it’s get up an go back.
    We talked the other day bout the direction I’m going with the 36-37’s.
    I got the 10 speed with the 3.55’s.
    I’ll prob go to a 3.73 gear because it will help with the acceleration plus help with fuel mileage.

    • @NotUrDaddiesXLT
      @NotUrDaddiesXLT Рік тому +1

      New tire size (37) / Old tire size (32) X final gear 3.55 = 4.10 ( gear you would need)

    Hey Q. Great video. What you are seeing on your MPG with 37s could be off because your speedometer is not calibrated correctly. I had the same thing when i switched to 35s. After I recalibrated my speedometer the MPG showed correctly. You are correct - when you recalibrate, input the measured tire height (mine was 33 with 35s) and it should align with what you see on your GPS for speed.

  • @mrmete
    @mrmete 3 роки тому

    Time to upgrade the TURBOSKIS😂😂😂 aerodynamics and taller gearing are the reasons for "sluggish" acceleration up top. As known, that acceleration follows the engine torque curve which is multiplied by the gearing (of course). The reason why today's trucks have taller rear end gearing is because they have shorter gearing in the transmission. In your case that's a 4.17 first gear multiplied by 3.55 and your engine torque at low speed, but when you get to higher speeds and taller gearing then you lose tremendous amount of force to the tire.

    • @KickinItWithQ

      The trucks have to meet certain restrictions so they are heavily restricted far as performance. Basically a tune unlocks that and allows the truck to perform at peak levels. Unlocking that restrictive power. Price will vary but expect to pay about $500+
