    @dokeyjones its a polished stainles so rust wotn be an issue, for sharpening use a tapere stone to get into the smal serrations, thats all...

    @LUCIFJEAR the saw was used on a wooden dowel for 5 minute then on one branch about 2 feet long the burs are still there as you can see in the video

    Don’t feel too bad about not seeing the saw; it took me five years to work out my Huntsman had a saw.

    Actual swiss soldier here...I think the reason that the knofe is leftie friendly is because most soldiers are right handed.Sounds dumb I know. In the swiss army the first thing you learn, concerning your rifle, is to allways have your strong hand (the right hand for most soldiers) on your rifle in any situation that demands it. So if you are in a combat situation you can allways use your knife and still keep you right hand on your rifles pistolgrip so you can shoot if need be.

    @B4TT3RY some knives are specificaly for lefties like the lefty sebenza but thats pricey, over at knifeforums there is a lefty section good place to go to find out more lefty friendly blades...

    I just got mines today from Liberty Tree. Mines is a used but really good condition German Army issue Soldier Knife made by Victorinox. It has the Bundeswher eagle on it.

    Hey Jeff. When it comes to closing it's really just an adjustment on our part. My review shows how I close it, and it really takes the same amount of time with the right motions.

    this knife is not for left-handers because the chisel grind and is sharpened on the wrong side for left-handers Try to cut with your left hand you'll see

    I bought this knife in Normandy France news 10 years old loved it use a ton in the woods and when I was a kid 10 years later and it's still great tool

  • @XDSamXD

    @dokeyjones I might suggest you to use a ceramic rod for sharpening, it's used to put a quick edge to kitchen knives but you can use it by sliding it downwards in every serration matching the diameter of the ceramic rod with the curve of the single serration ;) Anyway there is a video here on youtube that show this technique really well

  • @greentjmtl

    @Selax The burr wears off quickly in use, doesn't affect performance either way.

    I have alot of experience with this knife. I got it in the army. Very very useful tool. But when I runned 3 miles with 60 kilograms on my back, it kinda messed my leg up becouse I had it in my pocket. But I prefer this tool to anyone. You won't regret it.

    Wow perfect timing on the review, I planned to order this exact knife this weekend from Amazon! I've missed carrying a Swiss Army type, and this is THE one to carry now days. Their Rescue tool is also "lefty" just like this one... great left pocket knife option for you ambi folks! GOD GAVE YOU TWO HANDS, LEARN TO USE THEM BOTH !! :)

    Another great review bought this knife for 30 euro in Ireland I'm an electrician and love it, lads at work were laughing at me now 4 of them have same 1 after they seen me using the saw for cutting slab board am unsure about how to file that seration

  • @Crombie531
    @Crombie531 14 років тому

    I have this knife. It is my EDC knife. and you right it is very lefty friendly. I also didn't notice the saw for like good week. and it dose cut like butter. Glad i got it. The only down side to it is the soft metal in the blade. I have a chip on mine. But i don't acre it is great.

  • @JoeyRamone442

    @cutlerylover hey i have been quite interested in buying this knife for some time now there is just one thing holding me back... the serrated blade how do you/ slash would you sharpen the serrated blade?

  • @Schmidt54
    @Schmidt54 14 років тому

    Are those normal serrations? As far as I know, those are "flatter" serrations and I somewhere heard that they can be sharpened "easily". I dunno for sure, just heard it somewhere.

  • @mongomondomongo

    Jeff, I've had the same Soldier for 2 months now and had no clue there was a saw.

  • @tomfaranda
    @tomfaranda 14 років тому

    NIce review. The problem with the serrations - they are difficult to sharpen. The Swiss Army one hand trekker kniife is virtually the same - same tools plus toothpick and tweezer, which are lacking on this model.
    There's a package deal on amazon right now - the the one hand trekker plus an SAK classic for $30.

  • @PreparedWolf34
    @PreparedWolf34 14 років тому

    This knife is very close to the "One Handed Trekker" model. I really want this model but I think I get the plain edge model.
    Thanks for the review.

    i'm used to hand stoning my own knives (something i learned working on a kill floor) ... not sure how a blade like tha might be kept sharp... i might actually buy this knife after watching your review... any ideas on how to maintain the blade???

  • @SteelHex
    @SteelHex 14 років тому

    The liner lock is lefty because Victorinox wants the steel liner to lock both the blade and the large flat screwdriver. It's about getting more out of less. The rest of the liners are aluminum to save weight and cost.

  • @faithkeep
    @faithkeep 12 років тому

    It's practically the same actually. Just run the blade gently along the side of your waterstone. It will be bumping up and down gently when it gets to the serrations, but considering that the serrations aren't really that "toothy," rather much more of a wavy design, it will still sharpen it just fine. I actually do this with the lip of a ceramic coffee cup. It's takes off less steel and really gives that fine razor sharp edge. Literally shaves hair.

    Hey, you should do a review of the Blackhawk Mod Mark I knife. It is a tactical folder that is standard issued to navy SEALs. Its a lot of money,but super high quality. you will fall in love. I just dont understand why there are no knife reviews on it. Black hawk made a demo for it on youtube, but i cant post it here without being able to post my comment. thanks.

    I love this knife because its a great cutter, but very discrete. I carry this along with my tilite so if i need to do a small cutting job, i can pull this out instead of a stilleto looking knife. No one freaks out at the sight of a swiss army knife

    I think it's possible that victorinox makes left handed and right handed soldier knives... I realy don't know, I'm just speculating, but it would be strange that a knife used by soldiers would have such a major flaw

  • @Volklin8888

  • @skovbo65

    The reason for the design of the liner lock is so that a right-handed user has to use 2 hands to close the knife so that the risk of cutting yourself is reduced.

  • @Timothius82

  • @Edzio997

    I think that lock is properly made. You are just using wrong finger combination. Try to use right index finger to push the lock and right thumb to close the blade.. it is simple we all just need bigger hands.. :)) (office work an small keyboards ruined us)

    Tootpick's and tweezers are for small inconveniences civilians have to endure. If you're in the military and you are faced with a problem requiring tweezers or a toothpick, it's not considered a problem.

    • @maksuree
      @maksuree 7 років тому

    It'd be nice to have a slot for a pen insert. Not very silly, and it'd be possible to put other things in there, like a toothpick, small tool, tweezers, whatever.
