Pulsar Synthesis Basics - Max/MSP Tutorial

- Pulsar synthesis is a lesser-known variation on granular synthesis. It uses periodic oscillations between a waveform and silence to blur the borders of rhythm and timbre. In this video I build a basic pulsar synthesiser in Max/MSP, all by manipulating a simple sawtooth wave.

fantastic tutorial!
Thank you for detailed tutorial on Pulsar.
❤❤ thanks for a helpful and inspiring video)
Eyyy thanks for the shoutout @ 1:23
Thanks!
Tasty as always
nice one
hmm I tried to replicate step by step but my sine wave is not behaving as expected on the scope. I then found out it is because i gave the cycle~ a non-zero default frequency value. Interesting to know cycle~ can work without a input to the frequency inlet.
Stimulating!
Thanks so much for this great tutorial. It really helped me understand the basis of Pulsar synthesis and how to develop a Max patch around it. I played around with this, experimenting with more features - then found that the GOST book has a section on Pulsar synthesis in gen~. I built a patch from that and combined some of these ideas - using a buffer, and randomness on the ratio value. Here is a performance improv using it: ua-cam.com/video/Xk0ceWXeppg/v-deo.html
Thank you - really liked the improv!
