I have some grin news for you: I bought a 56 Caddilac relic like yous (Even the same color) and have restored it to Showroom condition. By the time I got the motor, transmission, all the fluid pumps rebuild, got all the gages, windows, steering, suspension, brakes, and other things in top shape, and refinished the interior and all the Body work, etc etc etc... (All done by top grade professionals so it is a Classic prize) I now have as much invested in this car that I could have bought a brand new Cadillac! * (it's true!) Now what do I do with it? My kids don't want it. It's really not good for anything, (like driving a big old pick up truck), * but "it makes people smile." * Older people love it! They remember when. Young people don't know what it is . (10 year old boys like it) It gets lots of waves and smiles. Sometimes guys jump out of their cars at a stop light, run back and tell me "Cool car, Mister!" and run back. I got my Driver's license in a car like this.. Used to smooch cute girls in the back seat And you can get into a lot of trouble in a back seat that big.. (Probably why you bought it!) ..but this is going to cost you a lot of money! A nice new Cadillac is much nicer to drive! (have one) (Except it's invisible.. and nobody cares) John (80) Canada
For the way it was stored, it's in remarkable shape. The '56 caddys are quite popular and this one is well worth restoring, it would also depend what the under carriage looks like. I've subscribed to watch your progress.

Tear in the vinyl top; be sure to remove, and check the metal for rot.
