This game was played in a state called Tamilnadu around 3000 years ago by history and may even be older. It was not actually a sport but a war practise for the soldiers. Kabaddi came from "Kai pidi". It was meant to be rough but became a sport later on with rules. Anyways my fav thing about this game is the non stop action, pacing is intense. A fun to watch❤

      Kabaddi history in the Mahabharata
Deeply rooted in Indian culture for centuries, kabaddi has even found a mention in Hindu mythology. In the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, It is said that the Pandava warrior, Arjuna, mastered kabaddi’s skills from Lord Krishna, who adored the sport. The story goes that Arjuna would breach enemy walls inconspicuously and would walk back unscathed with his kabaddi skills.@@RealFansSports

@silverrahul, please check the rule number 37 in rulebook. If a player loses his cant while being in opponent half, he will be declared out.
Also, rule 32, raider must start his cant before entering opponent half. Otherwise raider has to restart the raid and opponent team can get a technical point.
Cant is still required in Kabaddi. It's just that the raid time has been limited to 30 seconds now instead of until raider can hold breath, so raider focuses less on how they do their cant.

The defenders hold the wrist of the guy next to him , so that he can form a chain to tackle the raider or dash him out of court and if he wants to hold the ankle or waist of the raider he can quickly leave the wrist of his partner and attack the ankle or waist of the raider, that's is why they are called a chain tackle or a solo tackle

@@RealFansSports not exactly..all defenders who have touched the raider in pursuit of tackling him will be out..(irrespective of whether the raider touched the defender or not)
In simpler words..a touch is a touch if a defender touches the raider or raider touches the defender before he crosses midline
To counter this what defenders do is..when one defender tackles the raider..they tend to hold the defender without touching the raider..so if at all raider reaches the midline..only that defender will be out who is in direct contact with the raider but this is instinctive and the defenders need to make a decision whether to tackle directly after the first touch or hold defender..you will understand that while watching in realtime)

It is partly rule based, but lots of times , especially the wild crazy ones on youtube are more like performance art, in the vein of professional wrestling etc. where it is pre rehearsed and they are putting on a performance

Also about chanting kabadi in one breath, the way the word kabadi is pronounced, the ka(badi - this part is said by blowing out and the start ka in kabadi is made with in take of air. So it's not like he is not getting oxygen, one just should not stop saying the word for a second while raiding

It's not I wonder why he even brought that up.

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 4 місяці тому

@@RealFansSports He brought that up because that is how this game has been played for thousands of years. It is only now that competitive Kabaddi is being played like a modern sport and that the need for more "fair" rules was felt and they switched from the breath rule to the time rule.
This game is older than Yoga, and since Yoga itself is at least 6000 years old, that makes this game older than that. Although the academic debate on how old it is is still on, academia has concluded that it is at least 4000 years old. Ancient Hindu Epics describe the Gods playing this sport thousands of years prior to even that era, so some even believe it has been around for around 10,000 years. And the breath rule is how it has been played for literal millennia.
In fact, if you see the Pro League raiders carefully, they do chant the word Kabaddi repeatedly out of force of habit. Even I was completely unaware of this time rule instead of breath rule system until I saw the Pro League for the first time.

    Kabaddi history in the Mahabharata
Deeply rooted in Indian culture for centuries, kabaddi has even found a mention in Hindu books. In the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, It is said that the Pandava warrior, Arjuna, mastered kabaddi’s skills from Lord Krishna, who adored the sport. The story goes that Arjuna would breach enemy walls inconspicuously and would walk back unscathed with his kabaddi skills.

This sport is like team chess but physically demanding and being agile asf. Its a very old sport which was more of a war training but now it's more standardised with set of rules which make it even more fast paced and fun. Me and my friends use to go in a ground with grass , emove our shoes and place them straight to make a court and it was so much fun but its dangerous as well if you will not play it with caution cause one student in our school fractured his hand while playing!!!

i have played kabaddi in fierce competitions and it was serious to me and let me tell you it's not a kid's play at all. it's a very serious game you have to play tricks and mindgames with your opponents all the time you're playing doesn't matter if you're on defending side or an attacker.

Oh yeah ofcourse. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting what we are saying. We are saying it reminds us of a school yard game. Ofcourse the games have serious strategies when you play it competitively. That goes the same as with playing tag, or dodgeball as a kid and then playing it in a league.
