The Night's Watch sucked, a bunch of assholes ready to betray their commander time and time again. It always turns out bad for them in the end, always, yet they keep pulling this shit. No wonder they stuck these jokers on the wall.
Craster needed to be tolerated because he provided one of the few wilding friendly outposts North of the Wall. Jeor Mormont was commanding an organization that was a shadow of its former self and leading old men and criminals. The Watch only barely survived the winter because Northern Lords were generous during the Summer Years.

Yeah mee too. How long was their arrangement been going on, months, years? What made them not kill craster at first contact? Was he the one that pleaded to not be killed in exchange of giving them sons? Or did they go to craster with the intention of striking up deal with him? Why sons, not daughters? (I guess coz they needed them to give birth to more babies) How did they communicate whem making the deal?

Jon gets insecure from how. In the book he never sees the others he knows craster gives his children away. And when he realizes they're bastards like him. Then he ends up getting truly terrified.
Craster has connections with wildling folk, and remember even a skilled ranger is nothing compared to a wildling who knows the land better than any ranger could know. There are no laws beyond the wall and that's a fact you have to accept whether it makes you squeamish or not
@nunyabiznes33 many characters in the nights watch say they defend the realms of men which includes the wildlings. Therefore jeor should have killed craster.
Two sides of the coin. He could kill Craster because that'd be the right thing to do, but then he would also lose an important "ally" and supply point in the region, because Craster was basically the only wildling who'd let a crow live, even inviting them into his home and feeding them, even if it's only sawdust bread.
@evanhayes5891 I think maybe Craster gets information from the white walkers when they come to collect the babies from him, and then he gives that information to the Night Watch.
@@abongilezolanipeterson5588 Maybe, but wouldn't The Night's Watch be asking about this very thing? And wouldn't the White Walkers be smart enough to know this info could be shared with the Crows?
@@evanhayes5891 Why would the Night Watch ask him about that? The deal was pretty clear. He gives them info and they leave him alone. As long as he has the info, the Night Watch stay out of his business. That's the deal. It's a pretty simple one. I love the image of the White Walkers walking up for their latest baby and spending a few minutes gassing with Craster about how's life going and do they have any big war plans.

IMO a GOOD Commander would have Slaughtered Craster and just placed a rotation of Rangers and brothers at the outpost

I want the comics
Lol the scene where they kill craster in the book is funny as hell.
If I remember correctly, Sam watched Craster's head float in a bowl of soup
Wait, I thought Jeor was trying to teach him how to follow in order to lead.
That was what he did

Why do you keep making click bait titles with no follow through?

I hope Jon does something about the incest problem along with the stigma around bastardry. He'd be my fav character in the books if he does that.
