I was born in 79. The first time I heard, the doors was 1994 not long after Cobain died, I was bummed and looking for music to listen to. Somebody had a cassette and the first song was, The End. Changed my life forever. Took up poetry, published poetry books... all from hearing his words on that day in 94.
I'm 26 and just now deep diving into the Doors after first hearing a song on a need for speed game when I was about 12. I didn't realize the impact these guys had and I want you to know I'm here to carry on this musical art for the next however many years I am here.
I used to carry a sharpie with me and write this phrase in discreet places everywhere I went - in remote corners of buildings at eye level, vertically along the edge of a squared wall or street sign, on top of the faucet in a dive bar bathroom, etc. It brought me joy.

Cal in the late 70's the radio stations simply did not play The Doors, the only person who did was Jim Ladd from KLOS ( The Last DJ) at his 10 PM show, I would buy a 6 pack and share it with my friend and go to the cul-da-sac and listen to his show in my car and wait for Jim Ladd to play The Doors. Then the book No One Gets Out of Here Alive, comes out and then the Doors were being played all day and night. My Mustang had a Concord tape cassette deck with Pioneer 6 x 9 speakers. Good time good old days. Back when So Cal was a great place to grow up.

He was on LSD but shy as phuck due to the trial before that date, that incident, by many accounts, took a tool on him, and he was spiral sadder. But thats a great performance by him despite the excesses and mental struggle. Fame really took his happiness away more so than vices, it's just that vices put the last nail on his coffin while alive. Jim was truly one off a kind, but i never understood the pure hate John Densmore had towards him. I get it, he was fed up with Jim s antics and unreliability, and lack of professionalism, but it was way too much hate to boot. Not like John wanted bad for him, but it was a thing between the two and Jim couldnt care less 🤣.

I was 14 when I first heard them. By then he was having problems and had the big beard. I've read a couple of biographies of him and read some of his poetry. As you may know,he wanted to be a poet. Sad life and a waste really,but that's life hey? But they left us with some unbelievable music!

I was 14 when I first heard them. By then he was having problems and had the big beard. I've read a couple of biographies of him and read some of his poetry. As you may know,he wanted to be a poet. Sad life and a waste really,but that's life hey? But they left us with some unbelievable music!
