Mini 6 the best iPad. It really is not trying to be anything spectacular but does everything you need it to do in 2024 and beyond.

Without 120hz it feels like a slog to use vs the pro models. With that update it would be a no brainer, but without its a no go for many. In addition to making the overall usage experiance feel much faster, it also improves the pen latency which is a benefit for drawing/note taking.
Why not get normal size? Does mini do anything different big enough to browse watch Netflix
@Fashionista-ny7ce it's a fair point, but "they" have been saying that for two years now. There will always be something newer on the horizon and Apple has great resale value, so if you need one now and there is no real sign of an update, just get it.
As this video was only published 2 weeks ago,.. I would definitely wait. It's been over 2½ yrs since the device has been released. I wouldn't waste my money on the 6 now. They say the 7 will be released later in the yr. The WiFi standard has been no more than $100 the retail price of what Apple sells it at But the cellular models haven't come down in price.
If you've waited this long to buy an iPad mini.... then the best time is NOT now. it's as soon as it goes on sale when the next version is announced. OR, if you happen to find the perfect situation where someone you know that takes care of their devices is selling theirs for a discount.

After 7 years of heavy work, bachelors, masters in architecture , +30 flights, I just need to replace the original battery and buy a new cover.
I really think I can use it for 3 more years easily. Although the chip is old, I don’t need a faster one yet with how I’m using my iPad.
The iPad mini 6 has been my daily work and entertainment companion since its launch. Totally agree with what said in the video. Of course in case an ipad mini 7 comes out... I'm getting it as well :)
Thanks for the video. I’ve had mine for just over 2 years. It’s used daily for reading, surfing, and email. It’s still as fast as the day I bought it. I got the starlight colour, 64g with cellular. I don’t go too far without it and it fits perfectly in my purse. This is one of the best gadgets I’ve ever bought
It doesn't seem to deteriorate for me either. Like you, I use it daily. Pretty great :)

I have a iPad Pro 12.9” and a mini 6. I love both of them for different uses. The mini is my reader and note pad. The pro is my gaming, web surfing, video machine.
Mind if I ask, what games does the iPad pro shine at?
My iPad Pro is 14 months old. I can count on 2 hands how many times I used it & now it will not charge or power on. I’m reading about a lot of issues with the 12.9 size.

Thinking about not bothering upgrading my phone and running 7th gen mini as primary with the old phone as the source for a phone number.
It’s a tough call in a world of “almost good enough” products.

I own iPad mini 6 for about 2years already. Im a master student and working at the same time. This machine really helps me a lot. Online classes, online meeting, taking a note during meeting or classes, watching netflix, you name it. It can handle well. Recently i put a paper like screen protector for better feel during my writing. I have no complaint. Im waiting for new iPad mini 7, hopefully it comes with refresh rate 120 hz and it has a better display.

18 months ago, I bought my 2nd iPad Pro, to replace my old one. Then in March of 2023, I was teetering on the fence to also buy an iPad mini 6. I just wasn’t sure if I could justify the expense. After watching your channel where you highlighted the mini 6, I was sold. I bought one, and absolutely love it. The iPad Pro stays primarily on my kitchen island, and the mini 6 goes wherever I need it to.
Then, in late January of this year, my 6-year old iMac failed on an auto update (for the 3rd time since I bought it), and I just grew tired of taking it in to have it reformatted. I was planning to replace it with a MacBook Pro, but saw the new iMac with the M3 chip and went that way, instead. The iPad Pro is near enough to a laptop for my needs. The iMac is the power I need for some things. And, the iPad mini gives me the versatility to move around wherever I need to go with it. Thanks for keeping us informed, Patrick. It has really helped me a lot. 😊

I love mine. It’s the perfect size for me. I gave away my 12.9 iPad Pro once I got this. It’s basically my CarPlay alternative since my vehicle doesn’t have it and maps look perfect on it when driving. It’s easy to hold and pick for casual web browsing, reading and other content consumption.
I’ve been patiently waiting for a Mini 7 announcement ESPECIALLY after I lost my iPod. I have a Mini 4 but surprisingly the Mini 6 is a little smaller than my 4 and would be great as a replacement and will fit better in my pocket. I’m willing to wait a little longer but if there isn’t an announcement by May, I’ll probably cave and get the Mini 6 =)

Got the mini 6 last year, mainly for reading kindle, and watching downloaded UA-cam and movies, for offline when car camping and away from net services… excellent device size, and convenient … also have a 12.9 Pro, and a MacBook Pro, each for different purposes and functions, "work" … cheers .. appreciate your story/perspective 👍🏼

I’m planning to get an iPad Mini when it’s time to replace my iPad 6th Gen. I would have happily settled on the newest “regular” iPad, but they keep making them bigger and bigger! I already have a MacBook Pro and am not looking for a hybrid or laptop replacement.

After getting 3 M1 16inch MacBooks last month, I bought a mini 6 256 LTE and I am loving it. If a mini 7 will come this year I will just resell the mini 6 😊.
I have two Apple devices I literally use every day, my M1 Studio Max and the Mini 6. If a Mini 7 ever releases it's going to have to be pretty amazing to get me to upgrade (although I am known for impulse buys).

Still using a Mini 5, and its good for 95% of the private administrative stuff when I hook up a magic keyboard 2 and mouse and for media consumption. its my daily driver - the other machine I have is a MacBook Air M1 configured solely for development.
I have iPad Mini 5 and it started slow down for the last few months.I'm waiting for the 7th to replace it finally.
Agreed that the Mini is great because it's not trying to be a laptop replacement or anything, but I still would have liked a magic keyboard for it. Sometimes I like using a physical keyboard even just for texting and I love all the angles the keyboard can do so easily when watching things.
I'd prefer to hook up a Bluetooth keyboard. Imagine how crammed a tiny magic keyboard would be, I'd have a hard time typing on that.

Great video as usual, I was a hair’s breadth from trading in for a mini 6 from an 11inch M1 yesterday…there’s just that *something* that’s telling me to hold off. Unfortunately, like you said there’s zero indication of a 7 coming, and if it did, the mini’s battery wouldn’t handle the M1 processor. In saying that, I reckon it’s only a matter of time until I have to bite the bullet! Keep the great content coming!

I agree with what you are saying about the mini. If the new iPad Pro is worth updating. I am thinking to go with the 12” this time. Which will make the mini to me more valuable. The 11” is the right size to where the mini get’s neglected. The 12” will force me to use the mini more.

I have the m2 12.9 pro. I love it but the iPad mini does look so cute and dinky, very portable etc. Do I need one, no but I like the fact that it's compact and could be used for say reading e books etc. Great video. Thank you.

Is the IPad mini the only one that has a MagSafe charger like an iPhone and can therefore be held on magnetic chargers on the back? I have a stand / dock that holds my iPhone extremely well and I want to know if I can mount the mini on it and use as a secondary screen
Patrick, as always thank you for all of your recommendations. I recently upgraded from iPhone 11 to the latest 15 Pro Max, I pretty much traded my MacBook Air and iPad Pro M1 for the phone. But I still miss an iPad, for that I regretted of trading the iPad Pro but after pondering if I really need all that power on an iPad but I travel more I find that the iPad Pro is too cumbersome and a tad heavy to carry. Now after watching this I can say confidently I will def get iPad mini 6. It fits the budget and still have all the task and power as a regular iPad, I did thought of Air and Gen 10 but I still feel this is best way to go!

Mine has been problematic. I live in a hot/humid climate and it overheats and drops Wi-Fi. There are many apps not optimized for the form factor and the battery life is terrible. Only thing good about it is the performance and form factor. And 64gb for the base model is a joke.

The Mini 6 is probably the best iPad that keeps going on sale! Its $399 gives you the A15 Chip, laminated display, front camera tracking, back camera has a good camera and flash, surround speakers, super fast, usbc, apple pencil 2 support.
I use my ipad mini 6 for education, work, streaming, and a disconnect from devices. I will leave it around me and get to my notifications when I feel like it. It’s great device for hoping online, and getting off easily.
This man is so right though Ipad Os needs a massive change. The ipad has had alot of features added to make it more mac os like but its still not there yet. You literally need a folio keyboard to have applications close like a macbook which I thought was weird.
But I digress! With Minis have a weird release schedule. I posted on another video about new ipads the mini 6 doesnt really need an update this year. What will they even do give it the 17pro chipset? More ram? A little bit bigger display and maybe brighter? If so I would skip it to be honest.
The iPad 10 & soon 11th generation is really the only other iPads worth buying imp. Because the M ipads are so expensive and do the same thing. But have stage manager, which is great but they could have easily made that a function on all ipads by choosing stage manager or the typical way to close apps.

As always older ipads are capable, but firmware limitations brick them earlier than they should.

I might be the only one, I had to sell mine because the screen looks blurry. On my 14 Pro or even on my iPhone 13 text and video appears very crisp and clear. The iPad mini 6 felt a little underwhelming for quality.
I would buy an iPad with Mac OS in a heart beat. It would be all I need to sync my iPhone's music.

I got the iPad mini 6 to take handwritten notes and I’ve been really disappointed in the performance.
The notes app constantly freezes and I have to exit and return to continue taking notes, this doesn’t happen at all on my wife’s iPad Air 5.
To test this, I wrote out the alphabet ‘a b c d . . . z’ about 10 times on both devices and the iPad mini 6 froze FOUR times, while the iPad Air didn’t freeze at all.
I don’t expect iPad mini 6 to perform as well as an M1 chipset device, but the notes freezing makes me really regret not paying the extra $100 for the iPad Air 5.
Sounds like you should bring it in. That is not normal.

I'm holding out to see how the next revision of iOS forms up. I sold my mini and picked up a Tab S9. The software situation on Android makes it a much better device for an all day productivity carry.
If I could get even some of that in the Mini with the next OS, I'll consider that an invite to return.

@@PatrickRambles actually pre owned is basically used phone. They trick people with the word pre owned. Some may think that's new. But it isn't in my area.
Oh I know what pre owned means. I'm just saying I assume those phones ate intact as well, as in no defects.

I’m still on my very first pencil tip , so I think the wearing effect is quite exaggerated. The orange tip is from PenTips, you can use those in conjunction or as alternative to Paperlike.

Did Apple add a calculator 02:22 ? Or is it an extra app ? The iPad mini size is perfect for reading but I wish it had an OLED screen to make the fonts more clear. I’m not able to read for long time on it :(

I tired to get behind the iPad Mini 6 but because I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and Macbook Pro 16", I hated the display quality of the iPad Mini 6. I went with the iPad Pro instead.
Well, it's not for everybody. You need to know of what u really need it for. I would find more usage for an iPad mini. I generally browse my android Samsung Note 10+ more than any ipads I own... the 'handed-down) mini (3rd Gen) and the iPad (9 gen). I would prefer to use a ipad mini 6, as I've seen them and played around with them in store on display, and don't need the tasks and power of an iPad or iPad Pro. (My personal phone is an iPhone 13.) I find that the mini is best for myself, not just for note taking, but browsing as well. I don't play fast action paced games. If I'm playing such games, I only play educational quiz/trivia ones.

Here is the question ipad mini 256Gb is the same price with the M2 Pro 11" 128GB in my country (Turkey) in this case which is the best option ?
The Pro is more powerful and has a better screen and battery, amongst other things. But it's bigger and heavier, so it depends on your preference.
Take the Pro 11" with M2 processor, if u really want and need a tablet. It's definitely more powerful. The Mini 6 is already 8". It depends on what u want it for. You'll get more usages out of the Pro. I'd only use the iPad mini (which I have a 'handed down' iPad Mini 3 cellular model), which I only ever used for note-taking, and the odd reading and browsing.
