The last react type video did so well, so i decided to do another one! Let me know if you want more of them but they will be less frequent.
Moar
The insights into the decks and the players make these videos great. It's not just a react video, it's pure knowledge sharing and funsies
The knowledge shared and insights def made the video!
❤❤❤😂❤❤😂❤😂
The greatest HS moment ever, disguised toast's meme sac pact is missing.
Hit me right in the feels seeing all the pros of this era, man do I miss it.
I really miss the old generation. Amaz, forsen, reynad, ropecoach, ekop and so many more
@@zaer-ezart Massan 🤖🤖🤖
@@zaer-ezart Paveling book is a core memory. Truly a golden era of gaming as a whole.
All these combos are so nostalgic, back when I still used to play hearthstone.
Always nice to remember Hearthstone used to be a fun game
@@Morchunkis True. Games so unfun these days because the powercreep just totally killed it. It's suffering from yugioh syndrome.
@@nickp8041 yugioh is just wild in terms of HS
@@nickp8041 the powercreep killed it? the removing of gold quests ruined it for me, bcuz i was a f2p gamer and till this point i could play competitive upper legend rank without spending money just by doing my dailies to earn 100 gold a day for playing 1 hour....im happy i saw the game grow up and im happy i saw the game die, bcuz thats what this game is for me now - DEAD.
Same!
To add to Rarren’s point on pros finding the lines to win. The best example of this is a video of Firebat playing Mecha’thun druid, in the video he burns mechathun very early and completely pivot is win condition to instead summon a bunch of small minions and use branching paths to buff attack. It was incredibly impressive because even players in high legend that I played in would have just given up when I did the same thing to them.
Ooo, which video was that? Trying to find that rn, but nothing comes up. Firebat played a lot of Mecha'thun Warrior and other Druid combo decks like Malygos and Togwaggle, but I can't find anything on Mecha'thun Druid. Edit: what if it wasn't Mecha'thun? Searching Malygos and Tog currently. Lots of great games to go through... Edit2: nope, nothing. As a long-time Firebat fan, I'd really love to see one more moment of his brilliance.
Typically the line is Esc > left click > concede > emote
@@KrivitskyM it’s possible it was toggwaggle instead considering they were basically the exact same deck other than the win condition at the time.
@@justinsmeer9539 I'm still searching. So far the closest I found was this ua-cam.com/video/RA68oZjPwXQ/v-deo.html He burned Azalina, and while he didn't finish the game with the buffed minions, he was able to get the opponent to low HP which later allowed him to have lethal with Togwaggle + double Naturalize for 15 damage worth of fatigue.
To be fair, on ladder, it's normally alot faster to just concede and go to the next game. But in a big tourney. You /have/ to play to your outs, bc you don't get a next game lol
No one can change my mind that Trump Malding over Lifecoach's turn 1 rope is the best moment in hearthstone history
Well, to be fair on turn 6 in that game you saw the FASTEST ever lifecoach turn and subsequent lethal
funny thing about evolve shaman back then was that u actually consistently hit those charge minions cause the minion pool was pretty small i remember spamming that deck and u started playing for the charge as a real option. Leeroy and king crush at 6 and 9 especially popped out alot
Please, keep doing this type of videos. I love watching the old times of HS, the game was incredible
Haven't played HS in years, this was a good trip down memory lane, I recognize many of the players here
I can vaguely remember some of the clips here, I used to spend so much time watching Trolden
I remember when Babbling Book was Nicknamed "Paveling Book" because of how many times Pavel got the perfect answer from it
he literally won world champion of it
8:40 there was a time when you could perform actions at the very end of your turn during nozdormu and the animations took the opponents turn time away. It was even possible to fully skip the enemies turn.
Yeah, sure nerves factor in, but even then 15 seconds is enough to do some basic plays. You can see in the actual game his turn lasted maybe 5 seconds, and it looks like at the start he may not have even been able to take any actions.
2:29 _TICKLING_ Abomination lol. Should totally have been the name of the card.
After the news about competitive HS lately, this was so fun to watch. Took me back to 2017-18 when I used to wake up at 5am to watch EU tournaments to cheer for Pavel and Firebat
I think you also should have explained how the mechanics of Yogg changed. Originally, the battlecry would keep going no matter what happened to Yogg. It was nerfed after 6 months so that it could only continue casting spells if Yogg was still in tact and unsilenced on the battlefield. FOUR years later and once it had long since rotated, our lord and saviour returned to his original form, unnerfed.
The yellow border was retroactively introduced well after knights of the frozen throne/league of explorers mini set was released.
How do you not get hyped for plays like these? Amazing stuff.
Loving these kinds of videos. If you wanted to do more I would love to see you watch some old Trolden videos. He was an important part of the HS community that I feel often gets forgotten
I completely forgot about those but everyone was stoked waiting on those and they always topped the Reddit page
I'm loving these old HS react vids.
Man this video was hilarious. Nothing made me laugh more than rarran saying he was a good player
What a fun watch! I still get reminded of the Nevada/San Jose Devolve clip by one of the guys on the San Jose team whenever we see each other online. (I’m in the middle on NV). Fun surprise to see the clip made it into this compilation! And if I remember right this was KotFT like he said during the Collegiate season. Would love to know the math on how unlikely it was to get 1) exactly Ticking Abomb 2) the rest of the minions all have stats die to it and 3) none of the other minions gain taunt to protect against the trade.
Anyways fun blast from the past, cool to see it show up and live on. Praise RNG 🎉
For people who dont know hs is a game with cards
Ohhh now I get it
5:46 So I actually went and watched the match, the reason Raza doesn't activate is because Pavel had previously used a Psychic Scream to shuffle his opponents _and his own_ loothoarder into Roger's deck, having played it from his hand in the same turn to clearly force his opponent into needing to wait and draw one of them before playing Raza and being able to combo off.
And to answer your question: Yes, cards did glow yellow when they were active during this match, I could see it when they both played Kazakus on turn 4 since they both had him in their opening hands, but I guess Roger was just under a lot of pressure and wasn't thinking clearly. Pavel went on to win that match, making the score 3-1, getting to proceed to the quarter-finals and then ultimately got 3rd place in the tournament.
Rekful's missed lethal is one of the most iconic moments of hearthstone in my memory.
Rest in peace rekful. And to everyone, talking about mental health does nothing if everyone keep treating it as the same taboo topic it has always been once it really has to be talked about. And, a problem is as big as the person having it makes it.
TIL my favourite era of hearthstone is when all the best pro clips came from. I remember all these decks and combos and most of the moments.
I haven't played hearthstone in years, but most of those clips were from the time when I was actively playing. What a trip down memory lane, this was a blast to watch!
18:05 Yogg just decided he's the new hero now with his new crew of invincible minions
Rarran, i love the way you cover a lot of ground on hearthstone content. Sometimes I wish you would go deeper on your thoughts about the meta and stuff like that, comparing to old hearthstone, maybe talking with old players that still play. anyway, love your videos, keep it going!
Loved seeing all the old faces and meta’s, great video!
There will never be another card game like HS was during the first few expansions.
Every time i return to this video 18:44 this laugh man it always cracks me, its so good
Defile plays in cubelock matches were peak hearthstone gameplay.
Rarran is figuring out the reaction meta boys, he's gonna go far
This was even better than the first one. So much fun.
I really love content like this! It's nostalgic and also very nice to hear your comments about it!
banger video. miss the old days of hs
God this reminds me of the hearthstone finals in Amsterdam. The only esports tournament i've ever been to. the atmosphere was just so good
Thanks for this one, loved seeing the metagame from when I was seriously into the game, esp. that last dog play. I miss even warlock!
"you could just lose games on turn 4". looks at rogue before the nerfs, "ok so not too much has changed"
"people love this deck" my gaming PTSD kicking in every time I hear antonidas effect sound
As someone who stopped playing a while ago, you said Mecha'thun and I'm sitting here like "wtf did i miss??"
Great video though!
ungoro and frozen throne went so hard
the fact that rarran is explaining all of these old cards makes me feel oldddddd
Just to add context, at 7:50, tyler had missed his 50/50 lethal shots for 7 turns in a row. After being unlucky for so long, and finally going to lose, he hit it
Pavel was one of my favorites of all time, came out of nowhere and had such an typical behavior. Really enjoyable even if he did nothing except sitting there stoically
4:12 The fact that he keeps doing plays like this one to this day is why I'm an unashamed Bunny stan.
How did I not see reckfuls play in here also RIP in peace. He was the greatest
dude, i miss firebat so much
what happened to him?
@@HyperKryst He was friends with Zalae and Purple, who both had some sorta (sexual?) accusations levied against them and due to him being friends with them Firebat caught a bunch of flack. Then he ended up quitting HS because he no longer found it fun, switched games and lost 80% of his audience. He hasn't uploaded anything on his YT channel in over a year.
I made a video on it cuz I missed him so much
@@BigChimpEnergy damn, I remember zalae. don't remember purple tho. kinda got interested what other og hs streamers that I watched back in the day are up to now and I'm glad that at least Alliestrasza and Kibler are still making content. And holy shit, kibler looks so old lol (still looks good tho)
@@HyperKryst Kibler's dog, Shiro passed away last year too, it was a good run 🙏
(mentioning it cos he has Shiro's portrait in his stream overlay)
Late to this video, but fun fact. There was actually a poll by most of the hearthstone community and a lot of the pro players, wanted to get babbling book renamed to Paveling book, because he had absolutely crazy RNG with that card. Always created the perfect card for him in every scenario. It was awesome lol
After every single clip... "So for those of you who don't know.." BROTHER PLEASE
7:03 omg I forgot the cards used to spin around when you saw them being played haha
6:11 Pavel used Psychic Scream I believe the previous turn(or some turns before) putting duplicates of some minions in that highlander deck.
I remember this match, Pavel had played an Albatross. It was quite early in the game.. That's probably why Roger forgot about it and didn't pay as much as attention as he should have to the activation of Raza's battlecry.
6:00 Pavel intentionally shuffled a loot hoarder into opponent's deck by psychic scream.
Also at the time, Raza would be yellow when activated but he didn't notice that.
Nothing beats Amaz topdecking Harrison Jones.
18:50 DO IT DAD forsenSS
21:25 You don't get it he is so smart he insta picked the best option forsenIQ
Dog has the sickest mind plays I've ever saw in Hearthstone 👌🏻
I normally dislike reaction vids but rarran is so charismatic I can't help but watch.
Pokrovac - pronounced with "ch" at the end and both "o" are short (like in "offspring").
Also, worth noting, the person sitting next to him is StanCifka, arguably one of the best TCG players (primarily MTG but also Hearthstone) of all time.
Glad to hear we both first hit legend playing taunt warrior in Un'goro. The best time of Hearthstone.
Amazing to see these back, also feels like it was more fun man. The only fun now are the weird combo decks and battlegrounds. There are no random wtf moments anymore.
Not a single 'everyone get in here' clip, the prime hearthstone meta
The pro moment I can never forget is Kolento's comeback from 1 hp
I really enjoy watching these react videos. These clips are all cool, but what really makes them entertaining is getting that extra commentary!
I was about to ask you to elaborate on the plays a bit for those of us that don’t know all of the cards by heart, but then you started doing that anyways. Appreciate it man, keep on keeping on :)
Love the clips where Yogg just stopped when he died and they essentially paid 10 mana to hit the end turn button
Man it just takes me back to a netter time. I miss Ungoro/Frozen Throne Meta. When Warrior had a winrate above 30%
The ancestral healing into Black Knight was nuts, the man is a madman
Man it's really awesome to remember what HS used to be.
Trying to play it now just is not comparwble.
Great vid, had me feeling very nostalgic. Some of the RNG in these clips are disgusting 😂
2:20 Tickling abomination is what they called me in university. I mean... wait. What?
Whenever I see stuff I like this I wish for old-school format tournament's where you have to play through older metas.
Much like Smogon does with Pokemon
Hearthstone reminds me a lot of Poker in a way. You can play absolutely flawless and to the best odds, but in a really crucial situation where only one single card will beat you, your opponent might get insanely lucky and get that one card… brutal.
So for those who don't know, this is a Rarran video.
*literally any card is played*
Rattan: “Okay for those of you that don’t know…..”
This almost makes we want to download Hearthstone again, but then I'd have to spend so much money catching up on all the cards I've missed.
What happened at 7:39? Does devolve not work on 0-costs?
The card transforms a minion to a minion that costs 1 less mana, you can't reduce below 0 mana
16:00 omg I can’t that was too funny 💀💀💀
God I miss these tournies back in the day.... Now I don't even know when they're going on
Wait, Ice Block used to be able to proc on your own turn? When was that?! I started playing in Naxx/GvG but I don't remember it being like that. I used to play mill rogue and other decks like Fatigue a long time ago so maybe I never came across that particular moment of interaction until later though.
Damn! I never knew that lol holy shit! Great vid, it was good having you give the greater context on a lot of these.
Secrets procing on your own turn hasn't been a thing since open beta so technically it was never a thing in the "actual" Hearthstone. Fun fact, there used to be an interaction where you could Alexstraza yourself to deal 15 damage with Eye for an Eye.
This honestly was the golden age of hearthstone. Knights of the frozen throne was the peak, the following expansions were cool too with uldun and the new quests until galakrond for me
Dragon priest will always have a special place in my heart
I like the time Toast sacrifical pacted Jaraxxys, that was back in classic or maybe Naxx.
Trump saying "Oh sick, we won!" And laughing so calmly reminds me so much of chess GM Hikaru . 😂
"Pros finding the lines to win" well paveling book might have a say in that
at 9:00 I think you also missed the context that nozdormu counted animations spent after your turn ended towards the opponent's turn, which resulted in Crane having much less than 15 seconds for his turn.
Those OTK cheese cancer decks trigger some serious PTSD. Years after.
I believe the first deck I've ever hit legend with was Tempo Dragon Warrior, with stuff like Alexstrasza's Champion and the discard Deathwing.
Hs most watched pro play moments, 80% crazy random bullsh*t, 20% actually spotting lethal or way to clear or smthing that normal mortals would not do.
I played my dragon pala deck once, i was dead next turn, i drew Embers of Ragnaros, they had a full board, Embers of Ragnaros went face 3 times for exact lethal. THAT felt good!
I have a question. When he played the devolve and the minions stayed the same. Why? Was that not a bug of some kind? At 7:41 time stamp
Frog is 0 mana so it can’t transform into a -1 mana minion
'This is one of the best meta games in hewrthstone' as Raza Priest and Exodia mage face off
The best meta control aggro they all had a chance
It is hard not to be impressed by how big the hearthstone competitive scene was years back given how many games came down to pure RNG.
Very nice video, bringing back good memories from the good old days :D
I feel like such an old woman saying that. I need to take my pills and a bowl of soup before going to bed ;)
Did they change ice block PROCing? I remember always dying to boombots and firebats a few years before that.
OH YEAH, have you ever had Amaz on this channel Rarran? Maybe for "do you know hearthstone" or something : D
Oh God YES PLEASE!!!!
I have asked, unfortunately he declined
@@Rarran Scamazed
Most funny moment was watching competitive Boomsday Project Control Warrior mirror match Kappa! 40+ minutes of games, you go eat, you return and what to see - the game is still going!
16:28 Barnes, king of the goons summons a random 1/1 copy of a random minion in my deck. So I get Barnes in my opening hand and I summon a Blood of the Ancient One. FOOL! IT'S THE ONLY OTHER MINION IN MY DECK.
I pre-ordered TGT too, that was the first and last set pre-order I did lol
Ungoro was when I started HS, aside from at launch, truely peak hs
First time watching ur video and ur such a homie my man you have my sub and like
For me the feels is when everyone just get in here you know?
