This shredder is a Garland 100e. I forgot to mention in the video. Most of the small electronic wood chippers are pretty much the same, look for the highest watts, mine has 2500w and its a beast for what it is. Check the amazon links in the description to find online, and before you buy anything make sure to carfully do your reaserch, check the reviews. If its a known brand it helps also. Reviews from other websites helps as also as we get so many fake ones these days. Hope you all keeping well guys. Alex
Small job? Great option! But after hearing the shredder bog down on each branch as it SLOWLY pulled them in, I am convinced that there is not enough time in my day to spend shredding the quantities you had at the ready. I would love to convert to electric as I have for my other battery-powered and plug-in lawn care equipment and stop buying gas and breathing in the fumes, but unless I go for a 220volt model, electric chippers are out as an option. My 10HP I.C.E. Troy-Built Tomahawk yanks branches in and shreds them in a couple of seconds, and the chipper funnel accepts branches up to 3" diameter. It makes quick work of giant piles like you see in this video.
Its brilliant for a small yard I agree. For where we lived back then, I could have done with something much bigger but I did not have that in the budget.
Hi there! You don't mention the make of your shredder. I've seen similar on amazon, but some have really bad reviews and don't chop leaves properly, or shred any branches which aren't perfectly straight. I'm not sure whether to splash out and buy one of the more expensive machines, or whether to rent a better one for a day, but that's pretty expensive too! ps: I was born in Sheffield, but grew up in Bedford. I now live in Thurlstone, which is 8 miles from Barnsley! I made some banana peel powder today - we've had a few scorching days, so they dried quickly. My blueberry plants are already starting to flower, so I can't wait to get them into my (very wide!) pots. Keep up the good work - glad I found your videos!
Hey Alec, thats awsome news! Im from Barnsley but living out in spain at the moment. This shredder is a Garland 100e. It has 2500 watts which most electronic ones Ive seen are 2000 or less, so less power. Its a powerful thing for what it is, you just have to treat it with respect, and not over load it. Watch that the blades dont go blunt. They are easy to sharpen yourself which it good. Look for one that has mostly possitive reviews, you always get somone complaining I find. Yes wide pots! it really set my plants back.
Looks pretty impressive! I've just bought a similar second hand one. It costs about $53 including shipping fee which is super cheap. Haven't tested it yet, instead I found this video 😂. Can't wait to try it tomorrow
they pretty good. as long as you treat it respectfully and don't over load it, give it a clean out around the motor area after a few big loads as bark tends to wrap around the motor disk. then it shpuld treat you well and last a long time. so far I've been pretty impressed with the little mashine.

mine is a Garland Chipper 100 E-V20 Electric Wood Chipper but I could not find it any where on amazon. I'm not sure they sell that brand in the USA. This one is the same type of machine, just a different brand, but works in the same way. Hope that helps amzn.to/3TVELOO
Yes they are easy to sharpen. these type have 2 big blades inside that are double sided, so you can switch it around to the sharper edge or replace it. if you have a nice Dimond stone or a wet stone they would be easy enough to sharpen. thanks :-)
I have a similar one. They are great for small yards, but it really needs some kind of funnel attachment when you are processing leaves and green stuff as opposed to the branches used in the video. Anyone have a good idea for a DIY funnel for these?
@@GreenthumbsGarden I guess I should clarify, I don't really have a ton of just leaves, more like small branches that still have leaves attached, some of which are so small it'd be nice to stuff some of them into a funnel as opposed to feeding one at a time through the hole.
Well I wouldn't want it on while I'm reading that's for sure 🤣 shredders are generally noisy mashines. The ones that work on a rotating gear cutter are much quieter but don't shed as fine
@@GreenthumbsGarden It!s ok...let me know if you find something less noise because I want to buy one of this machines: Idon!t want to annoy my neighbors.... ciao

@@GreenthumbsGarden The USA has a 110v electric system so most of the Amazon reviews here are for motors half the power.

What size are the chips? Good for making sawdust for smoking meat?
I suppose, it depends on the wood and thickness. Also it handles greener wood better. The shavings are more like slices, around 5mm thick.
That thang ate everything just about insight!!!!!!!
for what it is, I'm really impressed with the machine.
Please advise how I can get it online

Great video 🌍💚 How often do they blades need to be sharpened, and can you sharpen it yourself?

Yes your right, a funnel would help a lot for leaves and such. I don't process leafs in it unless the still attached, it would be too much bother.

Hi there, thank you for the review. Just curious, having a hard time placing your accent, if you don't mind sharing where you're from?
I grew up in Yorkshire, but also from 13 grew up in South Spain. So it's a diluted softer Yorkshire accent.
@@GreenthumbsGarden Thank you for the gracious reply.
if we use dried leaf or twig ... does it do as well as fresh ones?
it'll do them but it cuts better though fresh material as when it's dry it hardens and I noticed it struggles much more
what model was this i cant find it
it was a Garland 100e I couldn't find it available in the US. I put a link to something similar with similar wattage and power in the description.
Super helpful thanks 👍👍
You’re welcome 😊
what a racket, do they supply the headache tablets.
😂🤣😂🤣 they don't... wont be as loud as a petrol engine I can guess that.
Hands !!!!
Cheepah!!!!
Uncle @ 1:25 What are you doing with that piece of plastic? Don't be scared. Just use your hands.
🤣😂😅 safety man, safety!
@@GreenthumbsGarden Then you should have worn goggles, a hard hat, and steel toe boots. I think you are just scared of losing fingers.
Dont stuff it in ! You will kill the motor ! Feed it slowly . It will last much longer ....
Good advice Bernard!
I feel like I’m getting hearing loss from watching the video so you’re ears must have been crying without ear plugs. Very informative video though.
Sorry what did you say? I can't hear you 😅
Electrical chippers, very little electronics envolved.
not good, requires you to push it. It should work just insert and go to find next branch while it chews the first.
hello to everyone...to me ,this machine it's a little bit noisy

Wandering on UA-cam videos I've found that Worx shredders are less noisy....but it's my point of view....ha a good job
@@impuddile cool, I'll check them out. I just got this because I found it on a second hand app for super cheap. Was a great buy.

You gotta push it in gently...you gotta treat it with a bit of respect...
Wear ear protection.
its not that loud, maybe sounds worse because of the microphone. If I was at it for hours I would use some.
