Talk about a total beta male i was watching this movie. When her mother hugged her by the bus i burst out balling. The little girl really sold the sadness so well such an amazing actress. I regret not having a child and being a good father.

My friend has described being beaten when her aunt has had melt down over something and she took the blame. One time it was over someone had broken a pare of her sons shoes. The old air walk ones with a Buble in the middle . My friend and her son were halled into the bathroom to be interrogated while she slapped and kicked their bare arses. They were 7 and 5 years old. And it was her own bastard son who broke his shoes. He didn't own up because she would have beaten him. For breaking a pare of shoes.
Sometimes not seeing it ,but hearing it is bad enough .I don't understand why he couldn't buy the damn cigs himself .I love Robert .I don't know of I could sit and watch it.Too close to home.
Too hungover to go himself. My father was a drinker too but he never took the belt to us. Nor made us go to the shops for him as children. He would have beat this man into the ground for attacking an 11 year old child like that. For losing money. The only time my dad hit me was for going to the shops alone without telling him in a big city so he thought I had gone missing. And he certainly never whipped me. He was maybe close to it. Lol But nah this is disgusting.
They didn't show anything cos that's not the whole point of the movie. The point is the story behind it, not the abuse it's self. And anyone who thinks this is funny is completely disturbed. Amazing performance by Carlyle but man was this movie sad to watch. But I got through it eventually.
I don't why the dad would spend the last 5 bucks on cigs. It's sad to hear and this movie is sad. The mighty Celt is sad too ,but not as sad as this. Robert does a great in that one too.

The dad was trying to get the mother interested in helping out. But she seriously couldn't be arsed. Even knowing that her daughter is living with an alcholic father. Lucy knows where her mum lives. She's known her all her life but never lived with her. The dad was desperately trying to get the mum interested in Lucy but it never worked out. He's a hopeless alcholic. Who keeps losing her to social services because he beats her. Lucy's dream is that her mother would love her as she should. In the end we see she just can't. She loves her in a way but can't for whatever reason be a mum to her.
This whole film makes my heart hurt! Lauren, the girl Lucy roomed with, came off as rough at first, but sort of became a "big sister" to poor Lucy! I hate it that there are kids everywhere in this situation 😢
I get he mad she lost the money but he was way out of line he should’ve gotten the cigarettes himself she a little girl he didn’t to hit her he could’ve punished her by sending her to her room with no tv no playing outside no kid should go buy cigarettes for a adult it’s horrible
