p.s. without your videos I do not think I would have had the courage to tackle my current project ( 2002 WRX sedan ). Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Dude, you never cease to amaze me with your craft. How much does something like this cost? I'm in the states but if I ever need something like this it would be worth the drive.
Awesome work again, you guys genuinely give me so much inspiration to keep going with mine. I’m doing my 99 SF 2.0 Turbo ‘shade tree’ style, but in reality in between rain showers and real life. It’s not nearly as bad as this one but needs the normal rockers, arches and rear turrets welding / replacing. It’s purely sentimental after 18 years ownership, but what a car! I contacted Subiesavers for prices after watching you guys have so much success with them but I’m still waiting for their local agent to even supply prices more than 5 weeks later. The website looks as though the panels will cost twice what the car is worth as salvage. It’s almost like they don’t want to sell any! If only I was local to Canada…
For real! If next one pulled up like this for rust repair it would be denied. We were so far into this that there wasnt any turning back. Did turn out fantastic in the end though!
Great work saving another rare XT manual in WRB. My 07 Silver automatic here in WA held up ok as we don't get snow as much and don't salt the road. We'll just shut down everything for 2" of snow. LOL.
This is totally amazing! I have my (inherited) mother's 2002 Subaru Forester (2.5L) and it's rusted out, too. I thought about getting restored somehow, and your video gives me hope!
Love the fact you restored this I own a 2004 FXT SG5 2.0 EJ205 wrx engined in the uk here in Scotland its Red had a new rear subframe before my ownership and mostly undersealed tho i out my fingers through the Rear suspension turrets not a huge hole but its there
@@TheSubieSanctuary definitely im gonna try restore it my dailys a 2015 Suzuki swift sport vvt its fast good ish mpg no rust , but the Subaru is so much fun worst case scenario if its a couple grand too get though a annual test pass I’ll do it being manual its worth saving
Love the detailed content and appreciate the skill it takes to have that outcome, keep up the awesome work. For the true enthusiasts its a tough choice at this level of rot. Im in new england stateside so salt and weather is similar. Its such a weighted decision especially on the more rare cars, with the XT sports being a more rare car than most of the mass produced other subarus. I wanted a sports xt in manual but that was a needle in a haystack to find around here. Long term I think the investment will pay off for the owner. That car new was hard to get, nevermind now or in 5 years time. I have an 05 baja thats on that edge of save/dont save right now, but I also have a roller 03 thats in better shape, time is the enemy for me.
No doubt brother! Id definitely put the baja up with the rare’s for sure. I see a lot of subarus, seen a total of 4 fxt sports in my life. 3 auto and this one being the 1 manual. Ive had 1 baja in the shop over the years, just mechanical. Ive went to look at few baja’s over the years. They get rust like most subarus but under the cladding they get it even worse then most subarus unfortunately. Time is a bugger, its a challenge for myself and my personal cars id like to do as well.
@@TheSubieSanctuary I have already put new metal at both rear jack points and a bit on the rocker panel in the same area. I hope to move forward with more work this summer and full paint! I’ve had the car for 13 years and take care of it. I’m in Halifax
Salvage the good parts and crush the rest once it's rusted that bad it'll just continue to grow no matter what you do so you're just throwing your money away.
Wow! This is the first video where I've seen someone tackle a car as bad as mine and actually finishes the job! Good to know I'm not totally crazy. It would have been great to see some of the work you did to recreate the inner structure behind the rockers. Did you replace all 4 layers of metal and did you fabricate it all on your own? I've been cutting parts out of junk yard cars to rebuild mine and it is not always easy to find what you need in good condition. I'm very curious to know how you rebuilt it.
The center structure is basically just a straight piece that get sandwiched. Its easy to replace with rocker cut off at least. Key is coating the welds inside before putting rocker back on
I don’t get it…if the rockers were that bad, how come the rear strut towers were ok??😮 my forester is in way better shape on the outside but the strut towers are really rusted…I’m watching your restaurations and almost crying thinking of my forester sg that I would love to bring back to good shape. Right now I don’t really have a solid plan of doing this and it’s making me really sad and hopeless😢 Great video. I love how you show the process that you take the subies through!
I would not jack on these ones in particular. Yes correct about the panel not lining up. I ended up going with, favouring the door side. To then make the rear arch and body line come back. I hammered and dolly’d. Easier to re work rear then to fill a 1” gap along door.
I really have been meaning to for a long time. I feel it will be a good tool for others to use as a gauge along with inquiring customers. There definitely is a tipping point, truly id say this car was just past the tipping point. However we were so far into it, I pushed through and it did turn out great in the end.
Hey buddy! Our normal body/paint hourly rate is $65/hr, then cut and weld work is $75/hr. Typically these repairs with a full repaint exceed the value on most subarus
Hey shot in the dark, but at 7:13 - I'm looking for the part number for that exact plate and bolts. Is there a chance you would know the part # or what its called?
Doing gods work keeping these alive!
p.s. without your videos I do not think I would have had the courage to tackle my current project ( 2002 WRX sedan ). Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Amazing work as usual Jessie. You truly are the Subie Sanctuary. Southern Ontario Subaru owners appreciate the work you do for us!
ay ay ay.. hurts me to see Subies in this condition, but Jesse always finds a way to bring them back to life! Keep up the fantastic work!
You guys are the best. My dream is to fix cars like you guys
Another great repair. Owner will be ecstatic 👍👍

Pretty amazing work man.

I definitely hear the sentimental part brother. Most classic owners all in the same boat. For the love of their subaru
Makes me realize my car isn't as bad as some haha still need to get it taken care of at some point. great work!

Absolutely beautiful! It's amazing what you guys can fix! Loved the video!
Awesome! So motivating.
Watching your channel gives me hope that I can save mine. I’ve got 18 years of owning my Gg wagon and can’t let it go. It’s like one of the kids lol
Great work!! you really do save these awesome cars! I'm from Quebec and I'm really considering doing the drive to have you save my car. Love your work
Love it bro keep going up
Wow excellent work as always. Those fuel filler areas are super tricky to get perfect but looks like you nailed it

I love your guys work. I was wondering what kind of wire and size you guys use for the subiesavers sheet panels ? It looks awesome.
Ill have to take a look at our spool, always the same but cant recall until i go and run out 😂

We see 2014’s here with this much rust. Salt belt combined with not rust proofing early and not weekly washes
