This is the 3rd version of this song I have heard Rick sing. One from the Big Pink album, great, another from 83 when the toured as The Band without Robbie, all are great hard to pick a favorite. The one from Big Pink great, the one from 83, Rick is so good looking there, this one more raw. Just shows what a talent Rick was.
Couldn't agree more. Danko was a special one, him and levon were born to sing together. I just had lunch in his old stomping grounds of Port Dover and the fish and chips place has some beauty photos of them in immaculate suits playing the old dancehall in town. Cheers
@@finnmcginn9931 I hope you took photos of the pictures for keepsake, probably one of a kind pictures. I think about Ricky almost daily, the Band were beyond special.
That is what is amazing about them. Their concert performances of these early songs (esp. Woodstock) sound better than the studio versions on Big Pink,
Good to see Rick singing in that low hoarse register. Rare for him. I love the album version, but until now I wasn't sure who sang lead on it. RIP to him, Richard, and Levon.
Correct, it wasn't in the actual film. This along with the performance of "Rockin' Chair" from FE were released on "The Band - A Musical History" boxset.
Ahh I wondered why this was unfamiliar to me! This is one of my all time fav songs and The Band playing it my all time favorite cover so I KNOW I’d remember it. But I only saw it in theaters I never actually owned it
The Best Band Ever! Thank You!

Omg incredible! Ricks voice is… Almost indescribable here. This is definitely the best version of the song I’ve ever heard thanks for posting.
Its impossible to put into words how insane this is, Rick just kicks ass
There it is, the greatest cover version by the greatest Band ever, Rick Danko 1943-1999 will always be loved and missed by the faithful.

This classic performance by Rick Danko is so reminiscent of his performance at the Huntington Beach "Golden Bear" nightclub, 1977!
Appreciate you putting this back up in full. You're a true hero.
Pure magic.

It was actually on the FE DVD bonus features. Can't believe I don't have mine anymore either...favorite live version for me for sure.
