I ❤ Danko
I have always been a huge fan of the Band! and was lucky enough to see this performance of theirs opening for the Grateful Dead! So cool that this is all on line!!! rip Richard, Rick and Levon! They live on through their music! The best!!!
I was there also. Big fun
Sounds like one of the greatest experiences someone could have.. The Band and the Grateful Dead.. literally mind blown.. 😂
Amen, Brother!
You tube is a world treasure
Right on ✊🏽✌🏽🌹
On the day Rick Danko was born the angels sang. Rick sang harmony
Beautiful 🖤🩶
More genuine talent and musicianship here than everyone combined on the stupid grammy's last night.
Random21 Absolutely!!!!!
+Random21 you got that right
No Truer words! Levon plays mandolin like he plays drums, a solid groove.
And every grammy night after that!
Amen man, without a doubt.
I’d pay to hear this for 24 hours straight before spending a second listening to the Grammys
This Is The Band! Pure talent guys invited us to enjoy the music and the magic of their brilliancy
Love it when Rick does is "Danko Dance"
Maybe it's a Ukrainian thing.
martykate lol yep 👍
Danko Dance... LOVE IT!!
That Canadian/Ukranian guy could really sing!! My brother had a good friend name Rick Mason who looked like Levon and could play an awesome electric blues guitar. RIck Mason you will never be forgotten in Louisville, KY. You left us way too early,
Nice to see the maestro doing some right hand improv on the vertical keyboard
Greatest Country song of all-time. It is the Citizen Kane of country music.
Absolute magic! Thankful to know this!
We saw The Band in Petaluma in 1983, such a fantastic show, I will always be thankful for getting to see them, after The Last Waltz, I didn’t think I’d ever get to see them, sorry Robbie, but I didn’t even miss him.
Yeah, I love The Band too! My dad brought the records home and we listened to them enthralled. But what a raucous bunch they were!!
This is the best version they ever did of LBV
Quanta nostalgia vederli insieme felici unici!
The best version of this song by anyone ... Even other versions by the Band ... Feedback and all ...
Great but it is still Lefty's
@@larryhecksher4134 compared to robertson? there's a reason you guys lose you know
That's some damn good
I’m sad I missed these guys… :/
Dude watch their career - a lot of it is on UA-cam. Do that and you’ll have access I could only have dreamed of when I was a kid 40 years ago.
Garth, Rick, Levon
Awesome, just awesome
Favorite performance of my favorite Rick song
The mandolin in Levon's hands, accordion in Garth's hands, acoustic guitar in Rick's hands and drums in Richard's hands, the incredible harmonious voices but no Robbie anywhere around. . Do you miss him? No, I bet!
Asokan Ponnusamy not at all
Robbie being missing is literally a breath of fresh air.
Sometimes.. not when he was a prick apparently.. not for me to say. But as a fan, I've really gotten over his Bullsht. Took a while, but as a fan of The Band and all their solo work, including Robbie, yea, I forgive him..

nobody missed him . Egocentric prick, third league guitarist ! A good songwriter tho, cant deny it! but hell so detestable lookin
Wow, just realizing Rick died at his home in Marbletown, NY. Guessing he settled there after enjoying the Big Pink area so much? Also, jeez, his son died while attending U. of Albany? That is awful.
Rick never traveled too far from the shores of the Erie. For anyone from upstate NY or Ontario, something about the region - the weather, the lakes, the mountains, the seasons.
RIP Rick. And Levon. And Richard.
I grew up on a farm outside of Port Dover and fsmily has a little place at Long Point. No matter where I roam that's always home to me. Lake Erie is heaven.
Holy shit, I was literally 1 day old when this was recorded. That's kinda tripping me out.
im 36 yo and I love this song
+random 21
stole the words from my mouth.....who can make that emotional connection with the audience Rick danko thats who.look at the emotion in his voice when he sings makes makes no difference
and i also dig how in the end talent obviously glaring he still seems like a dude...a tussled hair cool dude youd wanna know
I remember them at the concord tavern !! they were the goat.
The soundman was obviously struggling. But what a gem!!
this is the best version
Completely disagree. best version is by levon helm dirt band - featuring Larry Campbell, His wife Teresa Williams and Levon's daughter Amy Helm. Far better than this version (although this is good
@@allanbriggs807 come on bro ... danko in his prime .... with harmony of levon and manuel ... Campbell and co are cool but cm'on .. thats second league
good
Don't usually see Rick playing the electric guitar, or at least its the first I've seen.

E o gigante da música levon relmis
One of my favourite songs that The Band ever played amongst many great others . I believe on the album that it was Robbie Robertson who actually sang the song even though he didn’t like to sing cause he thought his voice as awful, I totally disagree lol
rick danko sang this, robbie never sang
Rick always sung this song. Robbie never sang on any songs. His voice was so bad the mics were always turned off. If you listen to songs from the 80’s before Richard died, you would think it’s the original members. Robbie’s guitar was easily replaced.
Robbie Robertson never sang with the band, he can’t carry a tune, bad voice, they always stuck a dead Mike in front of him & he mimed singing.
Robbie could sing and often did. However, with 3 great voices, Richard, Levon and my favorite Rick Danko, no reason for him to lead singer. A voice is something your either born with or not. Robbie wrote most of the songs for The Band and played killer guitar, why pick on him because he dosen't sing well.@@jimrebr
Garth Hudson & I doin my tune Gypsy River recorded at Levon's and Magnetic North in Saugerties NY www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_3575356
Garth Hudson Keys and 3 Accordion Tracks..
Guess I never realized it, maybe since Levon was often behind his drums. Rick looks pretty darned big...and Levon looks pretty darn skinny and quite a bit shorter.
Garth's playing here is awesome! As is the whole song, of course!
Later in life Rick gained quite a bit of weight. Here he is still good looking, and in The Last Waltz he was very sexy. According to IMDB he was 6 ft tall. Levon was a bit shorter. Love Rick.
Levon shoulda kept his beard and longer hair. Still love Richie Danko
Richard Manuel playing drums
A/V guy what was with that feedback.....bet the boys had a few words with him after..
The Band do this song better than Cash
Lefty did this song. I think he would be proud of them.
Where’s Robby? Oh right, he wasn’t part of The Band “sound”. Knew how to write though.l
This is why they killed them.
let's take our music and culture back from gangsta rap and degenerate music. lets rediscover the 1970s European music in America. good stuff.
