How to trick a stream sniper
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 сер 2019
- Featured is a chess game I played against a viewer during a stream. At a point I suspected my opponent may have been listening to my commentary while we played. There was almost a tricky tactic for my opponent in the opening phase if not for a zwischenzug (in-between move). What followed was a sneaky “stream tactic”.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. Never in human history have I thought that we would have "stream snipers" in a game like chess...
Well, if you think about it, chess is an incredibly competitive game at the advanced level. At its base, chess is generally a more serious and complex game than Fortnite or Minecraft.
And there are a lot of chess streamers, if you dig deeper.
Fact chess was invented by the chinese to help strategize during wars leading to it becoming a game
@@p2np713 Its actually an indian board game with 4 players but sure
@PrinzVonLangdelberg nobody is saying chess is less competitive then fortnite/Minecraft.

And I thought the streamer was at a disadvantage when playing viewers, Jerry is so resourceful
honestly unless hes saying IM GOING TO DO THIS THIS AND THIS
most the time a chess streamer is listing out just possible moves. if their opponent is as good or better than them id assume theyd see the same moves. if the opponent is worse i doubt a few hits is gonna change the result that often
I can play against people worse than me and be very transparent and tell them what my ideas are and what I'm planning and still win easily as they stop my original idea, but blunder something else terribly. Chess is a game of perfect information.
If your plan is good, it doesn't matter if your opponent knows it or not. If you're playing for tricks, then you have to be sneaky and conceal your intentions. It's a minor disadvantage fur a streamer if they're playing someone roughly equal in strength.
@@12jswilson all that would be great if it werent for the fact that streamers tend to analyze the position for their viewers and as such tend to explain all the ideas and concepts for them and their opponent. this would help a lower rated player greatly because they could start to play towards the weakpoints of the streamer while reinforcing their own.
When playing chess local, sit opposite a mirror so you can sneak a look into your opponents’ pieces
And that's why you always wear sunglasses when playing a chess match.
@@Danbu1988 Just make sure they're not reflective or your opponent will actually see into your pieces

I'm very low rated and I couldn't believe when jerry was saying that bishop b4 was winning because i was seeing that queen check... did not expect it to be a stream tactic... laughed hard after that
@StrangeDeimos I think he meant he was there when it was happenning, during the stream, because it is a "STREAM", i guess he isnt the one who didnt read what he was suppoused to :)
Didnt know this “Call the Ambulance, but not for me” could be translated to chess
Jerry: I'm gonna do what is called "a pro-gamer move".
Stream sniper: “Haha this fool has made a grave mistake and even told me how to ruin his career on his own stream”
Chess Network: “Yes, but actually no”
LOL! I love it. I couldn't understand why such a strong player thought ...Bb4 was winning. "I can basically resign after ...Bb4." Hilarious!
Best part is the entire twitch chat discussing temperature conversion between celcius and fahrenheit followed by discussion in the comment section over which temperature scale is better
yeah dude, LMAO
Actually there is no discussion. There's only denial from one faction, that is arguing the way they do, because they are used to something while the other faction overwhelms them with logical arguments why their scale is better.
@@Pintkonan One could have problems with either supposed approach, although there isn't a clear separation between logic and some of the considerations at play. For example, hypothetically, would it be logical to switch to something that would make things less clear due to its lower intuitiveness, simply for the sake of being able to say that you are doing it the "correct" way? One might start to wonder what "correct" is supposed to signify, and if one might "not want to be right" at that point. Ultimately, no matter the criteria, it's going to need to relate to use in some way, and that will give way to "human" factors that might require one to understand humans in a separate kind of way from other, perhaps more erudite-looking, considerations.
Staying with something just because it's intuitive at the moment has problems as well, since making the effort to change could make things harder in the short term and easier in the long term with the latter potentially being more than worth the former. It depends on considerations like that. If, on the other hand, one switches to something because it has a more sophisticated-looking origin but functionally is no better, well, that would be a tempting (to many) but ultimately poor and specious argument against sticking with what is currently intuitive. This stems from a disparity between one's value of something being smart versus one's value of something whose use makes the user appear smart.
This is one of the best “Call an ambulance… but not for me!” moment 😂
