How to trick a stream sniper

  • Featured is a chess game I played against a viewer during a stream. At a point I suspected my opponent may have been listening to my commentary while we played. There was almost a tricky tactic for my opponent in the opening phase if not for a zwischenzug (in-between move). What followed was a sneaky “stream tactic”.
    I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. If your plan is good, it doesn't matter if your opponent knows it or not. If you're playing for tricks, then you have to be sneaky and conceal your intentions. It's a minor disadvantage fur a streamer if they're playing someone roughly equal in strength.

    • @derekg5563
      @derekg5563 Місяць тому

      @@Pintkonan One could have problems with either supposed approach, although there isn't a clear separation between logic and some of the considerations at play. For example, hypothetically, would it be logical to switch to something that would make things less clear due to its lower intuitiveness, simply for the sake of being able to say that you are doing it the "correct" way? One might start to wonder what "correct" is supposed to signify, and if one might "not want to be right" at that point. Ultimately, no matter the criteria, it's going to need to relate to use in some way, and that will give way to "human" factors that might require one to understand humans in a separate kind of way from other, perhaps more erudite-looking, considerations.
      Staying with something just because it's intuitive at the moment has problems as well, since making the effort to change could make things harder in the short term and easier in the long term with the latter potentially being more than worth the former. It depends on considerations like that. If, on the other hand, one switches to something because it has a more sophisticated-looking origin but functionally is no better, well, that would be a tempting (to many) but ultimately poor and specious argument against sticking with what is currently intuitive. This stems from a disparity between one's value of something being smart versus one's value of something whose use makes the user appear smart.
