- In this purple pillow long-term review I give my honest thoughts about this expensive pillow and whether or not you should actually spend your hard earned money on it.
It costs a LOT. We hummed and hawed for awhile but both my wife and I tried it out and thought YOLO let's give it a chance.
So do we regret buying them? Was the purple pillow worth it? I give my honest opinion after 14 months with the pillow.

@@trinity1168 Well that little Ikea one I got was pretty good but the material just ultimately didn't give me the support that I've gotten used to with the Purple pillow. I'm still rockin' the Purple. It's not perfect and still sucks when we watch TV at night lol, but I'm happy with it. Trying to get my moneys worth too! You thinking of getting one?

@Noah-qg2vq I sure do! I've tried a few others along the way but I always go back. I keep it as low as it can go and honestly the best part is how cool it keeps your head. It's not 100% perfect but I've tried a lot of pillows and it's the best one for me.

I've had my Purple pillow close to 5 years now, the original or first release. It has actually gotten harder to sleep with. It feels like the material has hardened a bit. I wake up sometimes with really sore ears and sometimes with neck pain. I am currently on the hunt for a new pillow.
Really eh? That's interesting. I'm still using mine as my daily driver, so it's been around 3 years? It's still my go-to. I'm not sure what I would get next... my neighbour swears by his water pillow! My Purple is still going strong for now... that would be annoying with the sore ears though.
I feel like we have similar needs and preferences! I might like that other pillow you got. This pillow is killing my neck. I sleep in all positions.
The purple one is killing your neck? That Ikea one was nice but it didn't last..It got chunky. I actually went back to the purple pillow for quite a while but now I'm on just one of my older pillows which conforms well. It's quite flate since we're on a memory foam mattress. What mattress are you on? I feel like that really influences the pillow type you know?
i got the purple harmony tall standard and the pillow cube side pro, side kick and knee pillow. they are AMAZING. the pillow cube is so great i havent had neck pains waking up in two years. im going to get the pillow in this vid with four boosters to make a Purple Pillow cube . being that im a side sleeper im not purposely trying to collapse my pillows lol
Haha that is awesome. You know, to be honest, SINCE this video I have gone back to my Purple and use it everyday. I love it. I always go back to it and it feels like the day I bought it (although the color has faded). I was tempted to make another video about it since it is standing the test of time. I use a body pillow for between my elbows and knees as I too am a side sleeper. But with this purple pillow, I don't use any of the boosters as I find the size on it's own feels right for my alignment..
Did you try those purple products somewhere first or just take a chance ordering them all online?
Also out of curiosity, what mattress do you use?
I got a harmony pillow a few days ago and woke up first night at 2am with horrible lower back pain. still wearing off after 3 days and the previous 2 nights, I've gone back to my trusty goose down pillow but once the pain is totally gone, I'm going to give it another shot to see if maybe I just happened to fall asleep in a weird position or if it's actually the pillow.
If it's the pillow, my next in line to try is the Saatva Latex pillow.
Yes these pillows can be expensive but I've had my tempurpedic pillow for over 12 years and my down pillow for at least that long also (I keep the tempurpedic pillow on my side because I like to roll over onto a body pillow). These things are expected to be decade long products that you use for over 1/3 of your entire day. If someone could come along and offer me the greatest pillow ever made, literally any dollar amount could come out of their mouth and I'd pay it.
I am right there with you! You know, I just keep going back to the Purple pillow. It is still my main driver and I love it. My wife still rocks a latex pillow which she's had for at least a decade. They sure last.
I will be very curious to hear what happens with your harmony one. How do you find the height of it etc?
I personally think the pillow needs to compliment whatever type of mattress you have as well. Something to be mindful of... some pillows might lose their structure on a soft mattress.
@@TheSAHDLifewe’re on a tempurpedic mattress. I have spondylolthesis in my lower back L5 vertibrae and upgrading to that from a sealey was a MASSIVE quality of life improvement.
Anyways, I’m 2 more nights and 1 nap into the medium height Harmony and it’s fine but the lower height one should arrive in a couple days and I feel like I’m going to like that more.
I’m intrigued by the OG purple pillow but may need to find a local showroom to try it out. It just looks SO different and weird that your gut reaction is that there’s no way they’re serious but I’ve now read tons of comments on UA-cam and Reddit of people swearing by them but also the opposite.
@@FastRedPonyCar You know what's funny is we have a spare og Purple pillow since my wife prefers her latex, so when we have guests over I always let them try it and I would say about 50% of them absolutely LOVE it. lol. In most of my reviews on my channel I try and take a stance on a product but with this product it just seemed to risky to say it's good and everyone should have it.
Also I don't use any of the risers, I love it as short as possible. Every time in life when I've bought a medium or tall pillow I regret it. I'll be curious about that lower Harmony one.
@@TheSAHDLife Yeah I think if nothing more, it's still a massive curiosity piece to me and I'm glad that Purple have a generous return policy and testing window. 100 days is a lot. Sooooo.... I've got one on the way HAHAHA. who knows I may like it more than the Harmony. The down pillow I've been on for over a decade is really low so maybe the purple will feel "right"??
I do have a question though. Have you tried sandwiching the main squishy part in between the two risers or put one riser on the top so your head isn't on the purple grid? I'm curious how that would change the feel or performance.
@@FastRedPonyCar I'm excited to hear what you think about the pillow! And no, I have not done that. It's an interesting idea but to be honest I personally love the feel of the grid... plus it stays so cool which I love maybe most?! Plus the height is just right for the memory foam mattress we have which is maybe firmer than I would like since I'm a side sleeper but it's almost perfect. I would love to try the mattress since I get quite hot. Maybe one day!
Had to take out a gym membership just to be able to lift it.

Haha, so I checked for you but couldn't find it! To be honest though, I don't use it anymore. I actually use.... the purple pillow! 3 years later and I keep going back to it. Ultimately I think the fact it sleeps so cool is just awesome. It turns out that is, surprisingly to me, really important!
I like that this review just came out, I've had mine for years and I used to enjoy it but now it doesn't feel cool anymore. I like the flatness and support it gives me but I'm too used the cooling and how it bounces my head back. Does anyone have any suggestions besides getting another purple pillow? I don't like the bigger fluffy pillows anymore

@@TheSAHDLife the harmony pillow looks a bit too fluffy tbh, I bought a purple pillow and a ghost pillow to see which one was better and they're coming Friday/Saturday so I'll see soon. I'm kinda iffy with memory foam because I did use one for my bed and ended up being too hot
@@Mr.man712 IF you remember please keep me posted, I am really curious about that ghost pillow! And ya, tbh I agree with you about the harmony pillow. The only reason I consider it is because one of the comments from my other video said his (harmony) was saggy in the middle and I was like ORLY!?
@@TheSAHDLife so I ordered both and ghost pillow is gonna take until next Monday. Amazon has their version of the purple pillow at half the price of the original and it's not great. Feels hot to the touch and cheaply made
I really like my latex pillow. It has slightly more give than the purple pillow but doesn't get hot like memory foam as it is full of little holes for air circulation.
I love my purple pillow so far

Yeah it's still crazy high price for a pillow. I keep going back and forth with mine... years later it still is the exact same shape which is reassuring. Sometimes I really like it... but other times I miss being able to fluff up a pillow. I've never been able to fully endorse it but I like what they are doing over there. I'd like to try the mattress but can't bring myself to spend that kind of money!
