- In this video Taren talks about How to Change Road Bike Pedals Without Special Tools. Beginner cyclists need to know how to change the pedals on their road bike or gravel bike without having a pedal wrench, they can do so with a crescent wrench, an allan wrench, a pedal washer, and some basic grease.

Nice basic information... and, yet... you omitted the biggest reason newbie's have a hard time taking off pedals. It is because they are turning the wrong direction. Showing (in detail) the correct way to determine the direction you should turn would have gone a long ways to making the video more informative.
that's right ! also the number of this crenchtool
Very true! I found this to be helpful: Looking at the pedal from the side, if you turn towards the front wheel = tightening, if you turn towards the back wheel = loosening
Never be surprised when Taren makes an obvious mistake. Some say he does this on purpose to make persons more likely to comment and more comments is better for his videos. Others say he is just not that smart. You decide.
@@PatrickDelorenzibe more specific.. turning from the inside using an Allen key and turning from the outside using a spanner is completely different . I still cannot remove pedals !!!
hi"! no it's the same, if looking from the side of the bike, you turn towards the front wheel = tightening, if you turn towards the back wheel you are loosening, regardless of allen key on the inside or wrench on the outside. So practical example: bike is leaning against a wall touching with the left side of the handlebar, and we are standing on the right side of the bike, looking at it (so we are standing on the drive train side, looking at the right side of the bike with the drivetrain. if you now put an allen key in, or a wrench, and turn towards the front wheel (looking from the right side) you are tightening, if you turn towards the back wheel, you are loosening.@@manwithnoname6580
Advice to squeeze the wrench and crank arm together to release a stubborn pedal was exactly what I was after! Much appreciated
Simple and straight forward 👍🏾
What size Allen key and what size wrench
Could also use nylon tape on the pedal threads.
How do you loosen the pedal on the drivers side? It’s really hard to prevent the crank from moving to remove the pedal.
Straps are always good too.
That's not a crescent wrench. It's a combination wrench. FYI.
Called it a crescent wrench 😂
