It is Larry....I could definitely envision some folks picking on a front porch, having a good time playing this. It's definitely a classic tune for sure! Glad you enjoyed it. Take care...
Ich stimme zu...aber ich muss auch sagen, diese Musik hat DEFINITIV europäische Wurzeln! Danke fürs Zuhören. Freut mich, dass es dir gefallen hat! Aufpassen...
Thank you for your performance! Thanks for putting which harp and the Key (of) in the description box! It helps us learners to learn better. God bless you.
You're welcome Nathaniel.......believe it or not, that's the question I get asked the most. Any questions you have, feel free to ask. We're all on this musical journey together......
Great old time playing in my opinion, You had quite a lot of variety.Kudos, well done. I love this style, Now you inspired me to get back to this style.Fun fun fun to play.
Thanks for the kind words Irene.....I try. For me, the whole song was an exercise in old-time. Plus, it's just a happy sounding song. The neat thing is you can do most bluegrass songs in an old-time style, if you want. Though people like Trip Henderson and Seth Schumate go a lot deeper down the rabbit hole, if you know what I mean. Check out their UA-cam videos......
Thanks James.......it's a neat old song for sure. If you like this, go to the bluegrass-old time page on Facebook. TON's of this stuff there, by people who really get it.
Sheesh, has it really been over a month? Thanks Trip. I actually do like country-tuning. Been working on Forked Deer, Cherokee Shuffle, and others, and country tuning sure makes 2nd position easier. Though I like Forked Deer in 1st position too.
celtic and Hillbilly music runs in my veins. even tho my fam is from Upstate NY which kinda make some since cause my famliy was never in NYC for long and the move to the country YEARS ago before the civil war but aslo before WWII)
Hi Darth....well, if you can find a backing track in C, you could do it. I think there's some places that'll make it for you in any key. Have fun searching!
Gotta love a name like Moist Cornbread! What can I say Moist, I got some tracks with the melody, slowed them down, and practiced the heck out of it, until I got it smooth and even, volume wise. Playing the 2nd verse in 1st position made it even more of a challenge. Have you ever heard of Mandozine? Incredible resource for bluegrass, Celtic, Old-Time, etc. And its free! Interested?
If you click on the show more tab up above SeeSaw, it tells you. I use 2 harmonicas, a G, and a D for the middle verse. Hope that helps! Any other questions, feel free to ask.
I agree with you Justin,.....old-time sounds, well, more old-timey in first position, at least to me. But I also know that you didn't read all of the description ( click SHOW MORE up above ). If you did, you would see that I DID play the second verse in 1st position. Listen to it again...you'll hear the difference in the verses. Have you checked out Seth Schumate on You Tube? Great old-time player. Good luck on your musical journey............
Beautiful melody

Really fine playing on this this chestnut, Brian - thanks for sharing. You might also try a country tuned G harp - best of both worlds!

How do I learn to play something like this

What key harp are you using here?
If you click on the show more tab up above SeeSaw, it tells you. I use 2 harmonicas, a G, and a D for the middle verse. Hope that helps! Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks. I never think of that show more tab.
I always try to remember to say what harmonicas I use, since I always want to know myself when checking other peoples videos out.
