I owned 4 of them... and that was about the exact price I was paying, when I bought mine between the years of 97-2005-ish dollars. Cheapest I pad was $1500, most expensive was like $3200.
Bought a mint red 88 gt 5 speed vert with just 60k on it in 99 right out of high school paid 5500. The car was perfect showroom quality. Pretty sure the old man I bought if from cried when he saw an 18yr old me light the tires after making the deal and pulling out his driveway. Was a great car with alot of bolt on power. it took all the punishment a 18yr old with a lead foot could throw at it. Did go through 2 trannys though lol damn 3rd gear. So wish I still had that car.
Fox mustang prices are so high now it's insane to me. These were never meant to cost a lot. You can't find one under $10k, bone stock mustangs going for $15k like someone would actually cherish a bone stock fox body Mustang. No one in the history of sports cars has purchased a fox body mustang to keep it stock, it's ridiculous. Modified fox body mustangs going for 20k or more. Wtf has the world come to? I know with inflation you can't expect a built mustang to cost $5k. But a 10k fox mustang now is like a beat up POS.
Finally a fox body that isn't just built for drag racing like 99% of them(also almost all of them are LS swapped) I'm glad they've kept it Ford powered too
There Should Be A Law Against Bowtie Guys Buying Foxes And Putting LS Motors In Them. I Like All Makes Honestly. My Dad Was A Mopar Guy, Raced Mopar And Fords. I Don't Like Brand Swapping Power Plants Though. Chevy In Chevy Etc 🤷🏿♂️.
Not surprised to see Fox shocks on cars, like 20 years ago Ohlins was only present on super bikes and now they are present in cars too, once you have the knowledge to develop a shock making a smaller version isn't too difficult, great that they went with independent suspension, having a solid axle means a lot of unsprung weight, it couldn't be much better than this! Awesome project!
Fox Bodies always been great... this just modernized it. The 3rd/4th Gen Camaro could use a suspension upgrade like that. The ITB look thru the hood is pretty sick.
The Heidts kit includes the CV shafts, this kit does not. Once you factor in all the extra parts for the differential/third member and rear brakes, both kits end up around 8-9k from either Heidts or Ridetech @@massivedelusion
I grew up in the 80s- 90s and I still cannot fathom why people build these Fox Body mustangs... They were the epitome of hot garbage. I cannot see them as anything but slow, ugly, cigarette cars for trailer park boys who just want to park at the high school and check out girls when they are in their late 20s-30s. That being said, this is the coolest one of them I've ever seen. So mad respect to this builder!
Awesome car l love it l have a 85 white coupe love the four eyed cars Ford power forever baby a real Chevy and dodge killer l love it keep on bringing it great setup
Great video, thanks Larry. I want the Ridetech suspension system on my Fairmont. They have put together a slick package front and rear for us Fox chassis fans.
I have 2 79s, pace car, stock. And a Kona blue 79 4 wl disc stock int, 358 roush Nascar motor with ac, 6 speed, looks stock, sounds sinister. Saleen wheels. Love them
I have a buddy that has the same model foxbody Mustang and it has a TT LS Stroked out making 1500 hp with a 6 speed with full tubular front end and believe it or not its actually a streetcar ! So this car is actually the 2nd best mid 80s mustang ive seen done besides his !
Someone did a UA-cam short of an American version of Initial D where Fujiwara drove a 5.0 Foxbody hatch in panda Trueno colors through the Blue Ridge Mountain backroads, it just seems so right! This reminds me of that video!
You're in my backyard Larry! Yeahman they are doing some amazing things with trackday Camaros and Mustangs around here, glad you're giving them some coverage! The past decade or so I've seen so many domestics really do well at VIR and Summit Point, definitely moving away from the Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Honda, Corvette, VW/Porsche fest it used to be!
I found my first car again after 30 years gone. My 85 gt. I was the second owner and now the 6th owner and it needs everything updated and will start this winter
It's going to be interesting to see how its lap times will compare to factory built benchmarks from major manufacturers. Once it lives up to the promise of the sum of its parts, it should be pretty ridiculous. Probably down to how much more they can spend on continuing to tune and develop this iteration.
That fox body is running basically a C4 Corvette Suspension.. Van Steel C4 Corvette coilovers looks very similar. The Double "A" OEM GM C4 Corvette Suspension Syste 92-96 looks extremely close to what is on that car..Good Job it definitely needed it.
@reginaldbowls7180 yes it's a horizontal leaf spring set up in stock form..But the car suspension pick up points are still double wish bone front and back.. That's why coilovers set up are easy on them and a lot of ppl use the C4 as suspension swaps into their project trucks and cars..mostly 92-96.. early years are completely trash for the C4. I used to own a 92 for 5 years with a lot of suspension upgrades..
Damn! I guess that's how my car would look like if I went 100% racecar. I've been stuck in the middle between street car and full racecar. 03 cobra irs t56 and coyote swap flared out with 315s squared. But I still have a complete interior working stereo and heat.
the thing is thats what the AE86 originally was meant to do(that car is the japanese version of our foxbody mustangs. in fact most parts that run on our mustangs will run on an AE86. weird but makes sense as to why a foxbody can do more than just drag racing
Good observations! I don't think JME's website has been working for a while now, but could be wrong. We enjoyed building out our own version of what we thought a double wishbone should be capable of! It was a blast!
@@ridetechtv I used to want one so bad. I'm happy yall had fun with it, it's great to see somebody else make one, especially if JME is gone. Makes me want another fox body.
So - you designed a Mustang 2 steering/suspension system for a Mustang 3. Larry Chen seems like he hasn't seen anything like this before - calling the strut as a coil over.
Yesterday I was talking with a friend about how cool a Fox body would be for road racing, today you post this... it's a sign
That’s what I’m doing with mine! Definitely mostly a street car, but I’m building it so I can take it to my local road courses and tear it up
check out Craig 909 he is building something similar
A third gen is better all day long for road racing. Unless you dump so much cash that it's not a fox anymore...
That is not multi-link, it's double wishbone.
People known them to be good track cars for decades.
Was a blast hanging with you Larry! Great job on the episode!
I love Foxbodies. I remember when you could pick up clean cars for $2500.
I owned 4 of them... and that was about the exact price I was paying, when I bought mine between the years of 97-2005-ish dollars.

Sure Grandma, let's get you to bed :p
03-05 for sure. I remember in that era $5,000 would buy a very nicely setup one.

These mustangs were so overlooked for so long. And now that i want one of course they're expensive lol

Heidts makes a rear IRS kit for Camaro's but its extremely expensive, this Fox body rear IRS at $4500 is a bargain.

Keeping the 4 eye good decision .
It needs a scoop over the ITB trumpets, the airflow over the car spoils the flow into them.
The lifted crv in the back at 9:00 made this video for me haha
Great video, thanks Larry. I want the Ridetech suspension system on my Fairmont. They have put together a slick package front and rear for us Fox chassis fans.
IRS's are going to be available to the masses shortly. We just shipped the first 20 or so and are working on building more out!
So cool, love seeing a fox on track!
What a car! ... and a joy to see young bright automotive engineers in the US Midwest, love it. Thanks for the vid Larry.
Any car would be killer with this much custom work.
So happy to see Larry at Hyperfest this year and seeing all the vehicles he is featuring at my home track in VA😁🤙
What made me fell in love with the car was that i didn't know it was a mustang, but i loved it when i saw it in Menece To Society

I want to build a fox with a BARRA MATE.
YOU CAN FEEL ET IN DA STREETS ON A DAY LIKE THIS THE HEAAT I FEEL LIKE SUMMER
You know why I was never interested in the fox body’s, solid rear axle… IRS rear AND double wishbone front. YES! PLEASE!
That is clean and sounds so aggressive. Love a sharp race car.

I love ❤️ these Fox Body Mustang! Had a Fox Notch SVO storm trooper color combo like this too. Sold it during financial hardship.😢❤
SVOs did not come as notchbacks
@@ItsDaJax I modified a stock base notch with a manual with a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe engine. Late 80s 90s conversion.

We saw that too @anydaynow01! Can't say the YT short you referenced didn't cross my mind when we were building the car out.
Yelp my type of ride . All around race car the curves or straights .

Fender flares would only have to be 1.25" to be able to fit square 305's... 👍🏻👍🏻
Man you know that thing is fast and a handful to drive with that much power and little weight. Looks amazing though.

Love it! I have wanted to see the aftermarket make American autos able to turn a corner. It all starts from getting rid of the solid rear axle.
They corner just fine.
Gotta be a better IRS than the Cobras.
47 is my favorite number 😭 it looks perfect on this car
❤ In Virginia? VA is for ❤ers 🤙🏽🙏🏽
2800lbs is crazy I thought it be more like 3200 plus
Never mentioned the year but no worries i had the exact same car (tail light covers and all) except for the ride & motor 😆

The only thing ever holding back older mustangs is the solid axle, this is perfect.

Nice to see a Ford in a Ford. Roush Y45 that's how you make an Ls cry lol
TAKE IT ON THE,,,,, CHEN!!
Awesome build!
Nice car ,but what’s up with the wheel spacers? If it’s for brake clearance, why not get wheels with offset to be compatible.
Lol it's a foxbody Miata. Using the double wishbone setup for better suspension geometry.
I’ve had a poverty spec version of this build for a few years. Fox bodies are fun track and autocross cars.
Thanks Larry@!
Needs a JBA Dominator GTC Widebody kit.
Timestamp 3:56 It’s not “dampening” or it’d be getting wet. It’s “damping” as in to control compression and rebound. Cmon now! 🔧
ha! good catch. Try being on camera. You'll say all sorts of crazy things!
JME Enterprises has had a double wishbone kmember for years. Even has a removable center section to drop the oilpan.

so low it makes the stock vette look like a monster truck

Unibody is weak wondering how it holding up
I like Larry's content,
But how has he been around cars/a car guy this long and still not know the most basic things. I just dont understand
Wow

What's a car?
Again ?
yo
It is really hard to make a fox body keep up with the cars today. The chasis is so out dated
Fox bodies suck! Theyre ugly and the first thing everybody wants to do with them is get a real motor!
Amazing photographer, horrible sound guy
Who cares
Idk why but none of that suspension interests me.
Man, I LOVE this car! So freaking bitchen!
DID YOU KNOW THAT SAME FOX BODY RACED IN THE DTM. 🚅🚆🚝
Looks like it understeers like crazy lol.
