  • In this video I show how to convert a Low Volume Ride into a Dual Zone electronic ride, using a DIY low cost cymbal trigger, made with a guitarr pickup and a rubber foam that you can find in Ebay or Aliexpress for not more than 10 USD.
    My results triggering a Dual zone ride is tha the bow triggers very good but the bell is not 100% accurate,you can hear some false triggers, so this is a work in progess... In the case of a one zone Crash cymbals, it triggers similar as the rubber cymbal.
    ...Now working on how to convert a Hi Hat...stay tuned!
    If you tried this trigger and improved it, please share your results, Regards!

    Hey man I have a question: i have an nitro mesh module for my e-drum, the problem is that the ride, crash and cymbals aren't dual sone, so i can't have a ring sound. I was thinking to myself, the module acctualy have two more spare slots, one for a tom and another for a cymbal, so what if a build two triggers in a ride, put each trigger to the extra slots and just config the sound in adictive drums?
    I dunno, It seems to me that It would have much interfearence between each trigger, but would you consider it a good or at least a functional idea? Thanks for reading, awsome video ;)

      The challenge is to have good signal separation from both trriggers, dual or triple zone cymbals use resistors to separate signals from bell to bow but if you use two channels in the module, i guess you will be triggering both zones at the same time...but, it is easy and cheap to try it, so i your case i will try it

      Hola lo primero que hay que entender es que las entradas de cymbals estan configuradas para funcionar con piezo-switch, por lo tanto yo intercambie las entradas del floor tom con el ride, de esa forma puedo usar el ride en la entrada del floor tom que es piezo-piezo, luego soldas el cable blanco de un piezo al conector T del conector 1/4 TRS (Tip,Ring,Sleeve), el otro cable blanco del piezo a una resistencia de 10K ohm o 20K ohm y el otro extremo al conector R y las dos mallas al S

    Hello. I noticed 2 triggers, one for the bell, but you didn't show where you ran the wires. So how does that work with two trs cables coming off one cymbal? Do you run them both with a splitter into the cymbal input on your module? Or do you run each wires into a separate module cymbal input? (hope not, I don't have a ton of free inputs) Thanks

    • @undermixx
      @undermixx  6 місяців тому

      Hello, they run into a Stereo 6.3mm female jack (TRS) to a double male 3.5mm jack splitter i made, normal splitters don´t work because they split the same signal to both output, what you need is to split is TS to one jack and ST to the other jack, and also for beter signal separation, you need to put a 10K resistor between T and R, hope this clarifiy something

      @@undermixx - Thanks brother. I read the resistor is only necessary for Roland modules. I did end up buying some Y cables from drum tec (amazingly I couldn't find a trs to ts splitter on Amazon), so expensive at like 20 bucks a pop. Works great with my Alesis Strike module

      My bad, they are different. If you have successfully set up choking on a crash cymbal, I would enjoy and appreciate you sharing and making a video on it or sharing details. I've watched several videos on it and they all but one seem to be clunky and not comfortable. I understand the membrane concept but not the electronics part of it. I use a Roland and with a balanced cable I can get 2 sounds out of a roland pad, as you surely know. Using a low volume cymbal with an attached trigger works pretty good for making one cymbal sound but then eliminates my ability to choke the cymbal and eliminates one additional sound that could be assigned to the edge of an e-pad and thats such a waste. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    Yeah, how? Are you using 2 separate jacks/inputs for one cymbal (bell and bow as 2 inputs?)

    • @undermixx
      @undermixx  3 роки тому +2

      You have to cut the jacks and rewire because you need to put some resistors for channel separation, im experimenting with different resistors value, search for the wirings, in my case i use alesis cymbal trigger wiring, Roland use different wiring
