Bingo. You said it all in a short statement. You also made me cry! Anytime before the 2000s, there were the authentic movements and pop cultures and styles. Grunge/Alternative Rock was the last authentic movement. Mainstream music, television, film merged the commercial side with the creative side. The quality of works was huge. But most of all, there were many works different generations could relate to and identify with.
@@jeremyschep3589 @Jeremy Schep Yes, but those indie acts and works these days, consider that now they go under "indie" because the mainstream now is phony, sanitized and dull. Trash too. If most of today's "indie" works were all created and released during anytime before the 2000s (especially in the 80s and 90s), they'd be in the mainstream or popular culture easily.
Gonna give the sound guys some credit, NPA was known to have one of the best production team in the world. That show made every band sound awesome, even Fear Factory, who were supposed to be horrible live.
Electronic91 It definitely sounds way better than most TV performances of the era. But what I was referring to is mostly how the lead singer was able to keep those notes going in time on the guitar whilst "singing" the verse. Pretty tough thing to do.
Seriously! The spoken word part he nailed. I bought this album back when you had to buy an entire CD to listen to one song. Never listened to anything else on the album.
The words to this song were lifted directly from a book published in 1964 by Gloria Winters (Penny on the 50's TV show "Sky King"). The book was titled, "Penny's Guide to Teen-Age Charm and Popularity."..
I grew up in the 90s and music was awesome. we lost many great bands because people were afraid of emo. we are at a pivotal point because people are dwelling on the past. in the early 60's rock was dead. there was this awesome band that labels didn't sign because "guitar music is dead." sort of like now. This band that was old news and wouldn't make it was The Beatles. we are at that point, rock is something macbooks can't kill. Rock will live on, we just don't know who will carry the flag. Heartless I used to think that too. I thought they got more credit than they deserved and while that whole scene went on I definitely like Pearl Jam, Alice and soundgarden better. However they were the first to break through (I know pj and soundgarden had albums before them) and I think people forget how bad music had gotten. Shit like white snake and warrant dominated back then. It would almost be like if nirvana were to break through today. Could you imagine if they began their career during this era of electronic garbage? Kinda the same scenario

love the 90s teen angst. there's no angst anymore, just the pretense of confidence and false optimism. thanks, Madison Avenue!
you gotta listen to some of the indie music of today, there's actually a little too much angst.
Madison Avenue the early 2000s pop group?

Good fun fact. Its true
How cool is that after 15+ years Matt and Daniel are
1) still rocking
2) still playing the same bass and the same guitar?
This is the best live performance I heard on UA-cam of popular
