March 1997.....the month this movie came out on VHS....Have you ever walked into a movie not thinking it would be anything special, only to find your soul splintered into an infinite number of pieces because of how blown away you are with the sound track? The Saint and this ending love song is that movie for me.... I was 27 years old when I watched this at home on VHS back in 97'....Whenever I listen to this particular track, my wounded twenty something soul gets healed more and more...thank you Graeme Revell for creating such a masterpiece...a million thank yous...
That's EXACTLY what my thoughts were. It's an astounding piece. I was going through a breakup with a chick I just knew I was going to marry. I was hurtin pretty bad and this track help me get over her. Can't explain why though.
This score captures the soul. I saw this movie 23 years ago and I still remember how well acted this movie was, the chemistry between Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue was amongst the best I have seen on screen and this soundtrack just wraps up the whole experience perfectly. Brilliant!
I purchased this movie and for 100.00 dollars the movie billboard, copy of course, but what a great memory. To be a Saint, you have to perform 3 miracles, You have to be a very good, and usually very dead person to become a saint. And more importantly, you need to work three miracles. Now, get to work.
Hahaha! Agreed! When I used to work at Blockbuster Video (ages ago 🤪), I recommended this film to a guy who needed something for a nice Valentine’s evening for him and his wife. He came back later and said I saved his ass! 😂 Great movie!
"Listen, if you think giving away everything in front of the whole world that will stop us from making an unimaginable fortune will accomplish anything.......you're absolutely right!"
As Templar drive's away at the end of the movie the news bulletin on his car radio is heard, the news announcer is the one and only Simon Templar Sir Roger Moore
Im too. In 98 it was the first VHS film what we bought in Moscow, then we returned back to Atyrau, Kazakhstan. I re-watch this film and listen this beautiful music already 10 000times)
Not many know this but Val turned down his second Batman Invite to do this movie. Younger to see the documentary on Prime called Val. This song always elevates my emotions. Great stuff when you're manifesting. 🙏🙏🙏
What a surreally beautiful, crisp morning. Sitting in a café in Paris, raining out, glancing up every so often trying to absorb the denseness of T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom, listening to this on repeat. Perfect.
This music was and always has been one of my favorite instrumental melodies, It brings me to tears of sadness and happiness when I listen to it, as it reminds me of my late wife Barbara, as I met her in the same fashion as in the Movie and was mysteriously captured by her smile, like no other woman ever had. she was a former runway model to Betsey Johnson. May Barbara rest in peace and may this melody last a lifetime.
I always watch this highly underrated film with utmost pleasure. Well acted, well photographed, well directed, masterfully composed score...I'm glad it begins to have a cult status, which it fully deserves. It was made in times (1996- 1997) when the West was brimming with confidence and optimism & for someone living on the fringes of the Free World, in Romania, so close to the Evil Empire, this movie conveys in me a feeling of menthal comfort the depths of which I cannot really express in words. Very good movie, indeed.
Your words gave me goose bumps! I hope you are still free...I’m afraid that my country (America) has come dangerously close to losing democracy recently.🙏🏻
@@bellafaye27 Yes, the evolutions in Romania's recent years are in the good direction, all things considered. And the USA is on a good track now, since November the 6th- on which it should remain, because if the USA falls, it will be as cataclysmic as the fall of the Roman Empire. Civilisation as we know it would cease to exist.
@@damianhoratiu2287 Thank you for your response...I am glad to hear that there are positive things happening in your country of Romania. I am very relieved that we will have new leadership soon here in America. Happy New Year & stay safe!🙏🏻
This whole soundtrack, but especially this track, it's arrangement with full orchestra, percussion, harp, synthesizers etc.... it unlocks some kind of cool, dreamlike, international intrigue...makes it very easy to fantasize that one was actually THE Emma J Russell from the movie.... on her way to meet her Saint! (I would imagine) 😉
Hey ya know, there's nothing wrong with that at all! =)If we lose our power to imagine and fantasize, there's really no greater loss. So having that ability and these kinds of moving "experiences", as I would like to call them, it makes for a very creative lifestyle.
Yes! I’m a middle-aged man who loved this movie upon its release and I still make sure to watch it at least a couple times per year, and this theme gives me frisson EVERY time. Like you all, it pulls at my heart strings and my imagination... it makes me wish for THAT energy that Emma and Simon had... it is the ultimate in love’s aspirations... when they meet back up in that sleepy Cotswoldian place... that amazing house... ❤️
Still an amazing movie and easily the most stirring track from any movie of the era for me. I still get chills from this piece. It just makes you want to find a romance that matches the feelings that come through in this track!
This song is PERFECT! And that movie... such a classic. It's always been one of my favorites, and as time passes, the heavy 90's feel it has just adds to the nostalgia. A very romantic movie, and to me, the character I remember Val Kilmer by. Thanks for the post :)
Some of the best music I’ve ever heard. Back when movies meant something - I imagine this film was misunderstood at the time, but it’s only gotten better with age. Saw it for the first time about a year ago and was blown away.
This is a fantastic song coupled with a movie that is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Graeme Revell did a fantastic job capturing the spirit of this movie.
I'm as blown away with this track today as I was when I first heard it in the movie all those years ago. This track got me over a breakup back when the movie was out. It even sprinkles in a couple of notes from the original television show score. It's a masterpiece.
I love this love theme it reminds me how Simon and Emma been through a lot traumatic experiences but, they finally fell in love. Simon met Emma he finally met his match. Mr Graeme Revell you are cool in my book. It teaches me how to overcome adversities in my life and solve problems.
It is impossible not to fall in love with the harmonies of these very special Graeme compositions, every time I see the movie I do it especially to enjoy its music
Just watched this film again after many years. loved it since I saw it at 17 and its always been a favourite. Awesome memorable chemistry and romance between Simon and Emma. This music tells their love story so beautifully. Just adore the love themes. Thank for sharing.
Yo, I literally burst into tears the moment I started listening to that song now . do you know how long I’ve been looking for that thing and you just posted eight years ago man so thank you. Thank you thank you
You are very welcome! I know what you mean, I've always thought that this was an awesome soundtrack and that the movie stands the test of time pretty well, at least better than quite a few from that time period. Thanks for your comment, cheers! =)
I have to confess that for me is still the one of the best movies and best songs for a movie way ahead of its time in 1997; l saw it completely recently with no reservations and still brings this nice feeling. Since the movie From Russia with Love in 1963 and later Casino Royale on 2006 for me there is no other movie that can compare between those 43 years; only Daniel Craig superseded after with James Bond sequels like Skyfall shooting to almost dead the main actor on the first scene; and improved with the Rat story by Javier Bardem later.... Thank you for sharing the song
Revisited this film last month; a childhood favourite. It's quite naff, but great fun and the chemistry between Elisabeth Shue and Val Kilmer + the soundtrack 😍
I adore this song and always have since the first time I saw this terrific movie. I bought the soundtrack on CD ages ago but unfortunately this song was not included. Listening to it puts me in such a wonderful and loving place.
Val Kilmer acted in this movie coming from the success of Batman forever. I became a Val kilmer fan after his take on Batman . This movie was a fun movie and the theme was a probably under rated but an outstanding song I still watch The Saint once in a while. I feel sorry for Val Kilmer now due to his recent health issues. He is truly an outstanding actor.
Actually(2018) i'm in love with an beauty russian women...I hear this amazing and exciting theme and I imagine that i'm The Saint and her, my love is my Emma Russell....definitely, this is magic made music! For a better experience, close your eyes, and think beauty moments with your couple while you hear this song...the result? Magical! Thank you Scottish Basement for post this jewel from the master Graeme Revell!
The saint books are hard to find and yet more were sold than James bond books before the movies..... Imagine if all those Saint books became movies.. JUST WOW!! I wish.
I love this movie about it all. I was in an adopted house like this, but worst and abused worst than that. I turned out to become a pathetic person that can never love again, but I love listening to the love theme song.
The opening notes and strings run, 24 seconds in, reminds me of the counterpoint strings in John Barry's "Midnight Cowboy" theme. A nod to the great man himself maybe?
Thank you for this. Just watched The Saint again for the first time in years and forgot how much I love this track. Does anybody know if it’s on iTunes? I’ve searched but can’t find it.
I loved this as a kid and as an adult, I dig that it's a little bit "You Only Live Twice" (terrible film, great theme song) and a little bit "Han Solo and the Princess" from Star Wars.

I liked Val Kilmer so much . What a movie ...Thx for that song . Emotions ares back on me . Take care 🍺
I can listen to this over and over and over.............

Indeed. I so hope they release a true director's cut on blu-ray one day! Phillip Noyce really wants to.
It really is an underrated movie. Val Kilmer gives a great performance. A shame it didn't have a sequel

This is the only movie that makes me believe in true love
Me and my true love of almost 30 years favorite movie...it does exist
Music composed from an era with substance and meaning..
I love this film and this theme. Such romantic melody
This makes me feel like I am in love or was in love. Its rather strange but it does.
Me too
Me too...
The "love theme" from this highly underrated movie I have been looking for a long time!! The best song in all the soundtrack. Thank you so much!!
It's actually the "hate theme" ...
I never get bored of this piece of music it grows on me every time I listen to it
Absolutely love this movie and soundtrack ❤
Still one of my favorite movies. So underrated
I’ve always loved this score. It reminds me a bit of John Barry’s theme for You Only Live Twice, which I’m sure was his inspiration.
No only that, but also Midnight Cowboy by the same John Barry (similar to You Only Live Twice)
One of the best soundtrack songs I’ve ever heard!! Brilliant

It just made me ball my heart out.. I. Glad I’m not the only one
Grahame Revell great job.
This song is PERFECT!
And that movie... such a classic.
It's always been one of my favorites, and as time passes, the heavy 90's feel it has just adds to the nostalgia.
A very romantic movie, and to me, the character I remember Val Kilmer by.
Thanks for the post :)
The distance between parallel worlds of a modernist Bond movie score and a '90s Graeme Revell score is subatomic.
Some of the best music I’ve ever heard. Back when movies meant something - I imagine this film was misunderstood at the time, but it’s only gotten better with age. Saw it for the first time about a year ago and was blown away.
If this theme was on wax it would be on HEAVY ROTATION!!! It is an amazing composition.... thank you Mr. Revell for sharing your genius!
This is a fantastic song coupled with a movie that is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Graeme Revell did a fantastic job capturing the spirit of this movie.

Wow… this track made me cry

I love this score. Needed to go back to it after I heard 'You only live twice' (James Bond) which sounds very similar, prefer this one though.
the Saint is on Netflix right now. ❤️
Ok, grazie.
Does anyone else sort of feel a 'You Only Live Twice' vibe from The Saint? I mean its all very Spy themed anyway. I love it.
Never thought about it, but yes there is a resemblance!
