Just found and bought a scramble start for my fat track. Not easy to find in England but once I’d seen yours I just had to have one. Great track, great racing, great channel. Thanks for sharing 👍 2 million likes
I had this as a kid, absolutely loved it! mine had an extra feature though, two people had a controller linked to a flipper on the track, if you let cars straight through they hit this barrier that slowed them down a bit, or max flip would guide a car into rotating hay bales on the insdie of the track that slowed a car down a bit. The right pressure would guide your car between both 'hazards'.
Our next door neighbor had one of these when I was a kid. We loved it when we got an invite to go race those Sizzlers. Great fun and a wonderful memory. Thanks.
Mattel came up with some really clever mechanical ideas, the lap computer is genius. Never realised that how the fat track fitted together, looks pretty substantial, like it would stay together and not keep braking apart. Great video thanks.
Ok!! Well, once again I had a question about something hotwheels and found the answer right where I thought I would--right here on Smakeral Cafe!! Saw the 4 car "Scramble Start" for Sizzlers on Ebay, and wondered how's that work?? And now I know! Thanks!!
Why would they stop making these kind of tracks? With new technology they could come up with really sweet stuff.... im gonna buy a fat track with sizzlers cars for my son but wish they had some new stuff too
so had one of these. I swear the one I had had a mechanism that propelled the cars around the track everytime they made a lap though. like 2 little spinning wheels that the cars went through. could be something else I had though
Orange track segments fit on these Fat Track curves...makes an off-ramp if you offset black track to the inner two. This is the California 500 set. First time seeing "Scramble Start", and lap counter "computer". I had simple Fat Track set, loop shown at the end. No memory of rubber bands to secure curve sections. I set small barbell on top of charging station "pump", and let cars go in school hallways before other kids showed up. White w/ green stripes car is 69 Trans Am sizzler...only 2nd one I've ever seen. First was at a Super Chevy Sunday swap space...for 50 bucks in early 90's.
Any guesses on how many cars you can charge with new batteries in the Juice Machine (how many cycles do you get)? Does the type of battery in the car influence how long each charging session should last?
I get several hundred 3 minute charges out of 2 fresh D-size batteries. The original Nickel-Cadmium batteries took a 90 second charge but the new Nickel-metal Hydride batteries can take a 3 minute charge. It depends on the capacity of the car batteries and their metal composition as to what kind of "quick dump" charge you put in.
As someone who grew up in the 2000's, it was genuinely disheartening for me to not know about these sets. I would've LOVED to have this as a kid. I seriously think that Mattel should give the Sizzlers series another run. Maybe give some sort of spin on it for new audiences.
Mattel brought the Sizzlers back out around 2007-2008 they were only sold at Target. I remember seeing them and bought the track and several cars for my son who was nine at the time. I always wanted one when I was a kid, but never got one. We still have it today.
Hot wheels, Johnny Eagle guns, Knock Hockey & table top hockey were the best .toys in 60's were the best toys ever. Do you have the Bat Mobile & Green Hornet car ? If so race em would be interesting. My kids would have that carpet ruined in no time! lol

because they made this stuff so good that nobody wanted to upgrade because this was better than the other stuff. you know how it goes....
Right? There's so much potential for the Sizzlers series in the 21st century. Maybe make themed sets or something.
Mattel should produce something similar, with powered cars on a wide track with a lap counter. Today's kids would love a toy like this for sure
doubt it....if its not something with a screen nowadays they want nothing to do with it.
As a kid in the late 70s i would have adored this idea
so had one of these. I swear the one I had had a mechanism that propelled the cars around the track everytime they made a lap though. like 2 little spinning wheels that the cars went through. could be something else I had though
That was a Hot Wheels Super Charger you had.

thanks so much for this! I learned a lot! *cheers!*
Love those sizzlers! Took me back to my childhood. Are they coming back with sizzlers?
Who knows next year is HotWheels' 55th Anniversary after all.

awesome. Where can we buy these now a day besides eBay ? Your set is black tracks that must be newer than the orange tracks set?
I got mine on eBay. The single lane orange tracks came out in 1968. The wide black Fat Tracks for Sizzlers came out in 1971.
Would you be able to please tell me, where I could get the metal bumpers for the antennas? Thank you.
I got mine on eBay.
What's the difference between the yellow connectors and the black ones?
I think they are the same. Just different colors.
Can you tell me what I can use to charge these car's as I don't have the original charger .
Sizzlers battery powered Juice Machines are readily available on eBay. Plug in Power Pits are more expensive but fairly easy to find on eBay also.
i have a nascar fat track got it when i was 3
FUN TIMES😊 WOW...
Cool technology, but simple! Didnt have Fat Track as a kid.
Will this connect to the orange track
I believe that it would.
MORE MORE MORE ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!
Any recordings of kids getting snapped by rubber bands on Christmas morning?
Hi, Is there somewhere that you could direct me for picking up some connectors? Thanks much.
Retro719 eBay will have Fat Track connectors for sale by themselves from time to time.
Retro719
Awesome!!!!
The 100th lap looks like a computer glitch, did they really do that?
That's real footage. Sizzlers can be quite unpredictable. That's part of the fun.
No, its like 97-88-99 then the 100th lap looks like a chip,im not pertaining the camera.
Oops 98
I wish I could get my hands on these, but they are so expensive
Had one as a kid, brother killed the cars
G
Wow...
it's still fast
hot wheels is my favorite toy
