in the oslo round, it appears that the suspect 5k'd his current position without having zoomed in. He moved to a roundabout, and the pin was exactly at his position. My guess is that the person that reported him did so because of other suspicious rounds, and reported this round too even though this would be the least suspicious of them. It would take quite a bit of time to 5k this position tho, probably for someone living in oslo too. I find it very suspicious.
I have to say, I agree he could be scripting but anyone living in Oslo knows exactly where this is. Visible are Oslo Central Station, The barcode project, the new railway "instagram" bridge. Plus the utdannigsdirektoratet building at spawn contains the police station where all new immigrants get their residence permit. Plus anyone who drives into Oslo around 9am will have sat in the queue at the roundabout! This could quite easily be a "dumb test" round for Oslo.
@@BenDohertyMusic I was going to say something similar, but figured the comment would be too long overanalyzing one guess haha. I once got a round right by the entrance of a subway station two stops away from my house, so I had a similarly fast 5k. Love the addition of the rating, think it adds good context (i.e. the Rwanda round vs the Thailand round), as different players are expected to have different sets of skills in different ratings. Would just love the addition of maybe 1-2 more rounds.
The rating stuff is tricky because you don't learn everything at once and rating is partly about consistency and not making mistakes, so it's hard to say what somebody at a particular rating would know - everybody knows slightly different things. I'm currently about 850 and I've e.g. watched Zigzag's Australia videos so I'm probably better than average for my rating on Australia and I know things like some Indonesian pole tops and Brazilian phone codes, but I'm not great on the USA yet, don't have a clue really about Russia and sometime panic and make silly mistakes when my opponent guesses really fast. I can definitely recognise both Malta and Iceland pretty instantly though :-) I would have suspected Rwanda on that round, but checked the car before I guessed. I think it's definitely a really interesting question what proportion of rounds are suspicious. Everybody has a lucky guess occasionally - I've plonked in cities without zooming in and got very near 5K fairly randomly. Likewise you'll occasionally get a spawn in a country or region you know well where you recognise smaller place names (and that might not just be your home country). There's obviously still the problem of generally good players who just cheat on the odd critical round but they will hard to catch regardless.
Something that I think will make this system better is if you can spectate other rounds. It would make it a lot easier to see if someone is googling. Because people who Google will commonly have horrible guesses when there is no writing, but as soon as there is writing they will guess the city.

One counter-argument for that Nova Scotia round is that if someone were to Google Walton, Windsor, and Maitland, they would get the identically-named places in Ontario first, which would kind of lead me to expect a worse guess. I guess if they already 100% knew it was Nova Scotia they could avoid that problem, but I'd also think a player good enough to immediately recognize NS would also be able to find the route pretty easily, where the names then all appear on the map (you said you only saw the two but they're all there). Really baffling round, certainly suspicious and worthy of voting guilty, but not *completely* impossible that they simply knew.
Well it can be said a niche fact, but Windsor, Nova Scotia is claimed to be the birthplace of Ice Hockey. So if you are hockey/hockey history fan there is decent chance you know it. I was SO scared they were going to report me for cheating but luckily they didn’t 😭🙏 or if they did I didn’t get banned so
That rating display is great. It would be helpful to also know the multi level though as i might just plonk a big city on that Switzerland round on low multis.

I don't like that rating is added for context. What's the point? Makes lucky guesses from low rating (or good players getting back into the game after rating reset) more likely to get banned. And makes cheaters that cheated their way into high rank less likely to get banned. Rwanda round is a good example. zi8 Guesses it in 0.5 second, says that it might be someone good at low rating doing nmpz for a challenge, but then still decides that there is 0% chance of that, and that it is 100% scripting, and votes to ban the person. Without rating context he'd click on the "not 100% sure" option, which is the correct judgment IMHO.
Nah, that's a recent change. Kinda makes it more obvious when script plonks a perfect 5k right away, but in my opinion it most of the time just creates unnecessary information noise when looking at the map to see what the guy is doing
I feel the first guy might have been a scripter. Even though it was a very gettable location he still managed to get the exact road very zoomed out. You even commented on that fact. Otherwise I agree with your assessments.
I am almost sure this MaltaIceland guy was either my opponent in a Master I duel, or i got to investigate the same round as you. All I recalled is my utter confusion and bafflement, as well as doing the same thing as you and googling that sign. Still, I could not come up with any explanation at all. Edit: seeing the rest of the video: I had the exact same investigation seed, every single one. It was interesting what your thoughts were, but they mainly matched what I recalled from my investigations.
Usually the cars sold in a certain country have the steering wheel on the opposite to the side you drive on. The point of this is that the driver should be the closest to the middle of the road to increase their view of the road. Some rare exceptions exist. On the US Virgins Islands they drive in the left, but they mostly use US import cars that were made for driving on the right side and have the steering wheel on the left. In eastern Russia there are quite a few import cars from Japan that were made for driving on the left.
10:38 I don't know whether you have an unclear screen, but it clearly said Las Vegas. And I hope that a 1000-1100 player wouldn't have to Google that :D

I will say a lot when I am in that EU part of the world the different languages are just kinda subtle different so I'll stare at a sign trying to remember if it's Poland or Slovenia or whatever Or even just trying to remember the so if I do guess wrong I'll learn from it. I sometimes guess knowing I am wrong and then use it to try to remember what the right place is.
that feels like a weird thing to do when you could just google the place. i reckon they were legit and they were just wracking their brain trying to remember which language has "strange" characters like that, then went iceland because Icelandic also has quite a few unusual ones
I have a question. I won against someone I am 99.9% sure is a Googler (after checking one round I thought was suss). I didn't report him because he was high rated and I won a lot of ELO, and I was worried that if the game is ruled null and void, I would actually lose those points. Is that the case? If so, hopefully Geoguessr can stop that (ie you don't lose points gained against a cheater) because this person ended up going unreported just because I felt so chuffed about beating him in spite of him cheating. No, I can't remember who it was, it was ages ago!
I see it says at the start "If enough evidence is collected for us to take action against a cheater, we will let you know". So, have you been informed of any action taken from your previous investigations?

edit. But even then I would start to scan Nova Scotia for Windsor and not stare at the sign.
I think that first oslo loc is a repeat from a pretty old geowizzard video
16:22 Windsor is also right by Detroit
Plot Twist: Geoguessr gives you your own round from months ago to see if you judge yourself cheating!
Hey zi8zag! I have been watching your videos for a while now and they really help me with geoguessr and are also entertaining. I was in the top 0.3% of zi8zag viewers this year and watched 20X more than the average viewer. Keep up the amazing videos!!!
thanks my friend :)
I once had this duel round in the town of Huntsville Ontario, which is not a big place by any means, and is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I immediately knew where it was since I’ve driven through it countless times on road trips. I was SO scared they were going to report me for cheating but luckily they didn’t 😭🙏 or if they did I didn’t get banned so
i love how zi8gzag said he was gonna try and be reasonable and in the first one thought the scripter was clean ahahahah
The Canada sign one was against me. This ELO is full of cheaters and this exact scenario happens every other game
I can't wait for the storm of extremely accurate instasends when "Lockeport" or "Wabasca-Desmarais" come up on a duel round.:D
Two times I could have been flagged in front of a sign : mouse dead battery at the worst timing and cats doing their worst 😂
That rating display is great. It would be helpful to also know the multi level though as i might just plonk a big city on that Switzerland round on low multis.
In 10:33 I can read the blurry sign at first glance and it says "las vegas" so I immediatly thought about nevada. Maybe in border with california doesn't make that much sense but it's understandable.
Windsor is actually a decently sized place in Canada, but the fairly big one is near Toronto, it has over 200k population
They should let you review several rounds instead of 1. It would be much easier to notice patterns instead of having 1 good round.
Bro has a different sponsor for every video💀🙏
Yeah I live in Canada and if I saw Windsow I would got to Ontario, the city neighboring the Detroit... then would get confused by Nova Scotia road markings on the sign...
That'd be funny for a troll map tbh.
Same with Las Vegas (where you have it be the New Mexico one instead of the obvious nevada one)
I think the Iceland guess was a classic case of your cat jumping on your keyboard lol
I like how when he was doing the sponsor he was looking at the script which shows he never tried the product 😂😂
How does someone with a 900-1000 rating make that Iceland for Malta guess?! I swear I've never been fortunate enough to come across anyone that bad at that level in Master II duels...
Trolling
6:48 wasn't this round in the world cup or something? i swear it looks so familiar
Favourite type of video i hope you keep it up :)
Im new no geoguessr, are these clips from the multiplayer part, or is the single player also being clipped. Im currently only doing single player and i stop a lot to google things to get more information about the countrys. When i play like the daily ones i dont google because its against other players
You really need to take in consideration that not everyone has great internet and sometime need to wait for the street view to load
the only possibility i can think of is that he used bing instead of google
"Suspect" sounds a bit serious 😂😂
How do you find out your rating? Also someone can be low level and just know geography/ meta right?
It would be cool if you could stream this format so the viewers can say their opinion too
Fun fact, this comment is not a automatic fighter jet.
smart stuff james
@@zi8gzag isn't it so unovious to that that comment isn't a automwtic figher jet

As someone in Oslo, you can immediately recognize that street and it wouldn't be too hard to get a 5k from not being completely zoomed in :) So I agree, not guilty
He didn’t even zoom in at all, in my opinion it was just lucky
i think insufficient evidence would have been better in hindsight but certainly good chance of legit
He 5k(bulls eye) his current lockation on the map from space!
The hard part, even if you live in Oslo, is hitting the right pixel from space.
@@zi8gzag He wasn't legit, you missed the Scripter 😂 Oh well, you'll have to make another cheater video to try and catch them again 🤣
9:35 I think given the fact he didnt even turn around makes it beyond reasonable doubt, could easily have been Kenya or something, if he was knowladgable he would have just looked at the google car too
I don't like that rating is added for context.
Without rating context he'd click on the "not 100% sure" option, which is the correct judgment IMHO.
how are you able to review these cases?? i would love to help out
i think the 1300+ player at the end was using touchscreen or track pad, the weird movement was flicking to turn
What's going on with the correct location marker being down on the map immediately? Did that always happen in these reviews?
Nah, that's a recent change. Kinda makes it more obvious when script plonks a perfect 5k right away, but in my opinion it most of the time just creates unnecessary information noise when looking at the map to see what the guy is doing
I feel the first guy might have been a scripter. Even though it was a very gettable location he still managed to get the exact road very zoomed out. You even commented on that fact. Otherwise I agree with your assessments.
100% script. Having pro players like Zig review those kinda misses the point since they usually have no idea how the cheats work.
@@NidraxGaming 100%? I think you also don't know since it could have always been a random lucky plonk. But definitely a very high chance of a cheater.
"None of these are significant places." The Shubenacadie Sam erasure will not be tolerated! 😅
In Oslo, plonking the exact location you're at (one step away from the exact location) from that far zoomed out is scripting, 100%.
And good job man.
Can you please explain what you said about the steering wheel side and Malta?
malta drives on the left side of the road, so the steering wheel is on the right side, meaning we’re in a country that drives on the left!
@ oh, I didn’t know that-thank you!
A dumb question: What is scripting??
Using a computer script (small program) to get the location/play for you
We need rules against people who report bad guesses, tryna get poinst back like that, that should also be considered as cheating
It's was a royal Canadian legion branch. It's a club for military veterans
I had an insane 5K in Nigeria on no moving the other day and I was kinda hoping it would show up here.
10:38 I don't know whether you have an unclear screen, but it clearly said Las Vegas. And I hope that a 1000-1100 player wouldn't have to Google that :D
I enjoy these videos!
We really got geoguessr overwatch before GTA6 😂😂
the rwanda one just guessed the capital city on the text.
We want zi8gzag x zarkaa Collab ......or else sidemen x zi8gzag Collab ( geoguesser ) please 🥺
Fan from India 🇮🇳
The pause in the beginning of the round is kinda farfetch though, I almost always miss the first ten secs of the first round by looking at other tabs i have open
Br.80 is a branch of the Royal Canadian Legion
"people are not happy with my choices" puts not guilty on the most obvious scripter ever XD (Oslo)
6:08 it was very easy to find the exact bridge, i tried it, yet he got it wrong wtf😭
I drove on that alberta road in early october lmao
Don't think I passed exactly where the location was but I was on hwy 88
Oslo round is 99.99 percent impossible without scripting. pls Oscar. Hope i will get the same game when catching.
how you can report ?
First round is obviously scripting, sure the round is easy but that is way too far zoomed out to just click the perfect 5k like that
I will say a lot when I am in that EU part of the world the different languages are just kinda subtle different so I'll stare at a sign trying to remember if it's Poland or Slovenia or whatever Or even just trying to remember the so if I do guess wrong I'll learn from it. I sometimes guess knowing I am wrong and then use it to try to remember what the right place is.
The Malta guy could have tried to google a description of one the characters and somehow messed it up
that feels like a weird thing to do when you could just google the place. i reckon they were legit and they were just wracking their brain trying to remember which language has "strange" characters like that, then went iceland because Icelandic also has quite a few unusual ones
@@tallemajas he just forgot iceland doesnt look like sahara
I have a question. I won against someone I am 99.9% sure is a Googler (after checking one round I thought was suss). I didn't report him because he was high rated and I won a lot of ELO, and I was worried that if the game is ruled null and void, I would actually lose those points. Is that the case? If so, hopefully Geoguessr can stop that (ie you don't lose points gained against a cheater) because this person ended up going unreported just because I felt so chuffed about beating him in spite of him cheating. No, I can't remember who it was, it was ages ago!
Yes, I thoroughly enjoy these. Mainly to see if any of the people I've reported crop up 🙂 (they haven't yet)
I see it says at the start "If enough evidence is collected for us to take action against a cheater, we will let you know". So, have you been informed of any action taken from your previous investigations?
2:54 yes they do
