  • Using only open strings and the 3rd and 5th frets.... these notes comprise the minor pentatonic scale, perfect for Blues and Rock Licks.
    A LICK is a stock pattern or phrase consisting of a short series of notes that is used in solos and melodic lines and accompaniment. Also, a LICK is different from the related concept of a RIFF in that a riff can also include repeated chord progressions....

      I’m not 60 but I did grow up without the internet-and physically and socially isolated. It was like living on a desert island. 😂😭 (p.s. I LOVE the internet:))

    Really enjoyed this video, did you make a video of how you made the head stock on this guitar. Looks wider so you have more room for tuners. Very nice look.

    As always, masterfully insightful. Hey Del, when you can, post another video of that 12 string style 6 stringer you made. I know, I know, 6 strings are too many but you really captivated me with that thing. When I get time I’m gonna build one. Cheers man 🍻

    Thanks Del, I've learned a lot already from your vids man!! But I would like to find a chord chart for EBE, I've looked all over and can't seem to find one.

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar

      same chord shapes as GDG just different names. i've been a guitar player all my life so i just visualize the bottom two strings of a guitar.... and the top string... thus E B E - it works in my mind...

    Which do you proffer GDG or EBE? Also, are all the chord patterns the same or different as I'm a VERY new CBG player.

    Thanks Del, that was a great lesson. What string gauge do you use?

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar
      @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar  5 років тому

      acoustic mediums (all wound A D G) . .044 .034 .026 . i like tuning down... creates a looser feel and a deeper tone that i think really lends itself to CBG

  • @TheDigitalMurder
    @TheDigitalMurder 3 роки тому

    Random question, but why do you prefer the E B E tuning? I find it's just the same as playing an 6 string with missing strings, to me why not just use a six string guitar when your tuning like a 6 string (but with 3 missing strings)
    It just sounds like a normal guitar with missing notes
    But when I listen to stuff in the open G (G D G) it feels and sounds like different instrument, since your not just playing in the normal tuning it makes it sound so much better to me (anyway I'm not knocking what you do i just wonder why tune it like a normal guitar....)
    it sounds no different than me than someone just playing an electric guitar

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar
      @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar  3 роки тому +1

      i use many tunings. E is my singing key. The beauty of the instrument is you can tune any string to just about any pitch... i also like the looseness of having less tension in the string. easier to bend.

      @@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar thanks brother, as I said I knew there had to be a reason, I love your videos but I couldn't find one where you explain why you mostly use that tuning
      Thanks for the reply, I was going mad trying to work it out
