I’m itching to start work on the goods yard but I just have to finish the hard to reach areas before moving on. Time to think about the large field and decide exactly what I am going to do with that area.
I am going to be splitting the field, with a sheep field at the rear and some derelict farm buildings at the front.(I’ve been looking at buildings but they are quite expensive!!)
Once the rear field is complete I can finally start on the goods yard, the front area can wait - exciting stuff!!
Let’s see how far I get this week.
Thanks for watching.

i have only recently discovered Beechcroft and I am hooked. Love the work in progress.
Thank you very much ☺️
Hi Andy. Curb that impatience - it'll all end in tears! Love the sheep - love roast lamb!
Ha. You and me both! 👍
Good morning Andy. love the scenic's. just a suggestion, make the farm a working farm. you have the space. Love what you are doing. thank you for sharing. Tony. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Hi Tony. Thanks very much for that. Didn’t think about a working farm. I’ll have to have a look. My scratch building skills are nowhere near the level of yours so most likely will be ready made! 😂. Take care, Andy
Why i suggested the working is you already have the road crossing the track. ideal spot. i built a farm last year. and i just think it will work. its just an idea. its up to you my friend. cheer's Tony.
Thanks Tony. I will certainly have a look. Really appreciate your support. Take care, Andy 👍
Going well but go on, get on with the goods yard. You know that is what you really want to be doing!
You are so right. I’m itching to get going! 👍
Wonderful, it's great to see you are enjoying yourself, can not wait for completion of goods yard.
Thank you. I know, I’m desperate to get started! 👍
For the area where you want abandoned buildings but havnt found any, you might consider using bits of leftovers from kits or stone sheeting and then setting them on fire. You would have higher corners and lower middle sections, used toothpicks propped up where a beam collapsed etc. I often do this
Thank you. That sounds really interesting 👍
It's really coming along, many thanks for sharing
Thank you very much 👍
It looks fantastic. I'm so envious of you. My railway is in boxes in the back bedroom. I'm hoping to buy a new shed this year.
Thanks very much. I bet you’re itching to get going! 👍
Looking good Andy. Always an interesting watch
Thanks very much ☺️
The best part of it warming up is you can gather small stricks, interesting stones and other things for the layout. That portal in that color looks great.
Thanks. It’s funny you should say that. We’ve had some windy weather recently and I’ve been out collecting small twigs\branches to use! 👍
Some good progress there Andy, coming on nicely. Chris
Thanks very much Chris. 👍
You could use the Dapol village church, in a state of falling down, tree growing through it, abandoned when cut off from the village when the railway was built.
That’s an interesting idea. Thank you 👍
How about a film crew filming `One man and his dog` in the field where the sheep are😂😂😂😂 !!!!!!! looking good .. I have put a simple out and back in `o` gauge in the garden , i have something to watch as i do the garden .....
Ha. One Man and his dog. That takes me back. I bet that makes gardening more bearable! 👍
Looking good Andy.👍
Cheers Nick. Might give you a sneak peek next weekend! 👍
Nice job. Looks good.
Thanks very much 👍
Hi. Loving your work on the layout. Very detailed and so much to look at when the trains are going by. I recently added a farm to my layout and used the Metcalfe farm house, barn and machinery shed. Much cheaper than the Hornby ones. Perhaps you could use them and semi destroy them to achieve the derelict look you want? Cheers, John.
Thanks John. I’ve never used Metcalfe before but they do look like good kits. I’ve seen them on your layout. Look really effective. Cheers, Andy 👍
Looks great.
Thank you 👍
Your welcome, I've just extended my track and now no power it's shorting out, something has crossed some where,
That’s one area I’m not very confident with - electrics!!
Hi. I think what you have made looks really good. Could you let me know where you brought the flexible wall and field gates from. Look very realistic. Thanks.
Hi. Thank you. I got the flexible walling from Osborn’s Models, and the field gates were from Rhuddlan Models. Both can be ordered online. 👍
Nice
Thanks 👍
Thanks 👍
Looks good mate
Cheers 👍
Hi ya Andy.
Brilliant job buddy.
Love the covered track you've made it look great. As I've said before the different levels are superb. Lot of people having a kip on the top though.😀
Farmyard meadow fantastic, like those foam walls, do make my own real pain. Could you tell me where you get them Andy please?
Thanks mucker another great vidio.
....Pete....
Thanks Pete. I got those flexible walls from Osborn’s Models. Ordered them online 👍. Take care mate.
Making good progress looking good - love the walling what make is it
Thank you. The walling is: Arch Laser Flexible Cotswold Stone Walling. I got it from Osborn’s Models 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt Thank You
Have a look at a company called Bunters Yard for your buildings
Thank you. Yes, I’ve seen some good low relief buildings they do for the goods yard 👍
Time is a thing we always rush job get home holiday time off. Relax have a beer run some trains because that is the point hobby. Not a job a place to be calm no stress a get away so breath or a beer ether works. but play trains.
Thank you. Good advice 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt You are welcome.
Hey there, quick question if you don’t mind me asking, what the engine sheds you use on your layout? They look cool and I’m maybe interested in getting one if I still can for my future layout. If you can let me know that’d be great. Kind regards Callum. Look forward to seeing how your layout progresses further.
Hi, not at all. I stumbled across them on eBay. Spent ages looking for a 3 lane shed and these seemed ok. They are listed as ‘Triple Track Engine shed 380m Roof Vented & optional wide entrance OO Gauge’. Hope that helps 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt I’ll have a look thanks, i was just wondering as I’ve got a 3 lane engine shed aswell but it’s looking a bit tired atm as it was apart of my grandads layout in the loft, and he never really got round to doing anything with it, so I’m hoping to do an engine yard scene on the new layout, as I like moving engines around, on and of a turntable etc.
Sounds good. The turntable and loco yard is my favourite part on the layout. It’s good fun moving engines around on the turntable 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt yup I’ve always liked doing that, just got some new diesels, such as a class 45, 42, 43 and 52. Got like 8 diesels, planning on at least 10/15 to compliment my 50 or so steam engines 😂. Grandad had a lot more in his collection than we thought.
