For me school was a lot of "you don't get it? Why don't you get it? This is easy, you should get it!" attitude from my instructors. I was definitely one of the few students there who had no background experience ever cutting hair in my life. It was just a possible career path that interested me and would make me more than working 40 hours a week as a barista at Starbucks would. I ended up learning most of what I know through observing others, trial and error, and, yes, youtube. Your channel has been a valuable resource for me throughout this journey Sean. I'm one month into my second shop and feeling better than ever about my own skills now.
Just graduated barber school in CA at age 55. If I didn’t have UA-cam tutorials I’m not sure I would’ve learned anything relative to barbering. Our school was cosmo/barber with a heavy dose of cosmo stuff and very little barbering. I survived and got my license…signing lease agreement today to open my shop 💈
I am turning 40 still thinking I am not sure if learning the art of barbering is quite late for me. I am graphic designer sick and tired in front of the computer. I am also an amateur tattoo artist. But now looking for a new carreer as a barber to have my own small shop in the future. Thanks for sharing . I just got pumped up to learn barbering.
$14k in Cali 1000hrs no practical. You really gotta be hungry to learn both in and outta school. All I did was watch UA-cam tutorials and cut as much as possible all day every day it was tough but I made it 😂
I averaged 40 hair cuts per week in barber school. When looking at schools, find out how heavy the client traffic is. High clientele is probably the most important thing while in school. Barber students learn best when doing alot of cuts. The more the better. I attended Moler Barber College in Fargo ND.
About 20k in FL for 1200hrs. Right now I just started about a month ago and working full time as a mechanic. I’m clocking 9-10 during the day and 4 hours of school at night and school every other Saturday. Big sacrifice financially and for time but the vision is there and makes it easier.
I’m a cosmetology student and about 8 weeks from graduating and have been using your videos to help me with my mens cuts. I’ve highly debating barber school since it’s 300 more hours. I didn’t notice you were based in Owensboro but that’s about an hour to hour and half from me.

Cali in LA County. Barber School is just under 9k. My school has cosmos, barbers, esthiticians and even spa/masseuses. So far going good! Definitely have to learn to cut off of UA-cam and yourself. I got a few clients from showing off my self-cuts. So far a month in. Learning a lot of anatomy, and girl cuts. Was a bit surprised that I'm not learning men's cuts yet, but in a month I will once I test out onto the floor. Good luck to everyone! Stay in that soil!

In TN depending if u go to an actual barber college or u if u go to a community college, it’s anywhere between $7k-10k. TN requires 1500hrs of schooling for a TN barber license.
Man he talks about looking back and hating old photos while you're learning, but man some of those really give that satisfaction when you cut that same client again a couple weeks/months down the line and show you just how much you've improved since in those early stages your skills are normally going up at a crazy rate compared to where a lot of us are at now where we may get slightly cleaner or learn a new method, but our cuts are at a certain standard that we expect from ourselves.

Buy your own kit. If the school is selling a kit DO NOT buy it they should provide a list of all the things you need and just get what the list has
💯💯💯
They’ll probably try to pressure you into buying it too

Yo sean im using the stacking guard technique should i start making a bald guide line then go up how you did
I’d clear the bulk with your large guards first, then come on from the bottom
