    To reduce the amount of product used by a sprayer you can back off the water flow from the garden hose

    I use gorilla easy connections. They don't leak and if they do you can put a new o-ring on them. When i need to spray 4oz per gallon, i use the 1.5oz per gallon setting. Worked pretty well for my 4k ft2.

    With most product, you could just dilute it 50-50%, as adjust the dispensing rate. Also, I added a quick-connect on my Ortho Dial N Spray.

    You do a great job with your videos. Clear, to the point, and your commentary answers a lot of questions that we have. Just curious; is there a wind chime in your backyard? When I watch your videos, I keep thinking I'm hearing something around my house.

    There is a You Tube out there from "Tommy Tester" that includes a chart for the settings.
    It only covers the Ortho. It is worth checking out.

    Hi, well, I don’t know much about grass but I have an emergency. FYI, I don’t care if grass dies :( I need to spray my yard for Parvo, I want to use Clorox, 1:30 ratio. Can you recommend which one of those sprayers to use and how to set it up? Thank you!

    I use a strip of velcro around the trigger and then there is no hand fatigue.

    I purchased the ortho sprayer and I find it applies Wayyy more product than advertised and it states 2 gallons per minute but when I tested this I sprayed 2 gallons in 45 second which is much faster than stated so between appling more than stated by 20%and shooting more water per minute I am blasting through product. I am currently working on dialing it in to compensate for this but I shouldn't have to even with the lower price point

    I always had a little trouble using the hose end sprayers. I did a flow test and found that I empty a 20 gallon hose end bottle in two 5 gallon buckets. I bel;eve that means I am spraying twice as much spray as I need. So I believe I need to cut the amount in the bottle by half. For me a 20 gallon bottle is a 10 gallon bottle?

    If you trim the Ortho suction tube down you’ll have better success and less product leftover in the base. The JP modification works great. The Chameleon was a bust for me on the two I tried. Good info Brian. 👊

      You know that might make it get lower for sure and potentially suck up more stuff but honestly I like that the filter is there and I like how it makes the straw heavier at the end. For me I just refill the last bit in the jug with extra water and reapply the diluted stuff, afterall you gotta clean these out after using them anyway.

      @@TurfMechanic The filter definitely has its pros and cons. I always had issues with the filter when spraying the 0-0-2. As of late I have been having issues with the last two ortho dial and sprays I bought. They are hit or miss.

    Why did ortho ever change the design ?

    I prefer my Hudson hose end sprayer, adjustable and accurate in my testing. About $30 for one.

      I've also got a Hudson out in my garage too but its probably different from yours. It was about 10 bucks at my local hardware store. It doesn't leak and its adjustable but it doesn't ever seem to suck the product up and mix it so I just decided not to include it in this video. I think Hudson makes the Chameleon too btw.

    I have the Ortho. I have not had any issues with it. Emptys out completely every time. I did cut the hose right the the bottom of the jar with the weight. You do have to keep it perpendicular to the floor, no pointing down or up. Just keep it straight. Empty every time.

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  3 роки тому

      Thats good to get an I ther good review, I get mine ti empty too problem is the last few ounces always take longer than than the others to get spit out. Do you care to explain why you cut the filter off the straw?

    • @graceortiz9494
      @graceortiz9494 3 роки тому +1

      @@TurfMechanic I cut the hose and put back the weight. I work with paper folder/ invserters. We install a tank of sealer solution. We tie a rod to the hose in the tank with cable ties so that the hose stays straight in the tank. I was going to do that but the weight kept the hose in place.

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  3 роки тому

      Aha, that makes sense. I kind of wish the bottom of these tanks were contoured to drain all fluids to the center then it would be so much easier to get all product out and your rod solution would definitely help even more. Thanks for the explanation Grace.

    Neither of those. The Andersons hose end is better. Two bottles for $18 or so on Amazon.
